lfergs
So what was the deal there - we just let him go after his contract ended? He was a UFA and didn't offer him a contract? He was a perimeter guy but effective in certain situations. Another Gillis f*ck up: Raymond Luongo/Schneider Keith Ballard/Michael Granber David Booth/Michael Samuelson Hodgson/Zach Kassian Any others, anybody can think about? Gillis is on his last legs - one more chance!
GoaltenderInterference
I don't know if you can count Mason Raymond as a Gillis screw-up...
BananaMash
I'm pretty sure letting Raymond go was one of the successes of the off-season. It was time to move on, and open up a roster spot for some new blood.

CanucksSayEh
One of favorite players, would have preferred to retain him over Higgins. Still, not big deal, unless he scores like 20-25g in TO @ 900k, then yea that would kinda burn.
ImallinRU
Raymond is never gonna help you win when it counts... Playoffs is what its all about.... We need another Kesler...

Red Light Racicot
He was never willing to do what he needed to be an effective player, and no other team actually seriously wanted the guy. He might not even be good enough to make the Leafs, and if he does I imagine he will be making close to the league minimum. So there you have it. End of story. JeremyCuddles
Letting MayRay walk is hardly worth noting. He was a quick player and sucked at just about everything else. Santorelli could do what MayRay did at a much cheaper price.

Boudrias
Watched the TSN Laffer show yesterday which featured Raymond's tryout. Of course he has blinding speed, leadership qualities with a young club, a 30 goal potential and of course playoff experience. I wish Raymond all the luck and hope that the Laffer hope list for him works out. What I found laughable was the admission that Raymond had achieved what he has in the NHL while a Canuck. The irony of putting such a positive twist on what he might bring to the Laffers contrasted with the reality that Vancouver couldn't use him anymore. Sweet! SergioMomesso
The only good thing about Raymond was the amount of money I won in the last 3 seasons betting on how many times he would be on his arse in a game. A buddy and I started this during the 10-11 season. 5 bucks a game. Whomever was closest won and we totalled it up in April. In three years I was winning at a 7 out of 10 rate.
