Gotta throw some homerism in there. Although I do think if Gaunce and Jensen can step up, Kassian finds chemistry with the Sedins, and Booth and Edler have bounce back seasons we will finish 2nd or 3rd.

Sedin - Sedin - Kassian

Booth/Jensen - Kesler - Burrows

Higgins - Gaunce - Hansen

Booth/Jensen - Richardson - Weise

Hamhuis - Bieksa

Edler - Tanev

Garrison - Corrado/Alberts

Luongo

Lack

That line-up plus 1 or 2 deadline deals (physical winger who can pitch in offensively for 4th line and a big, mean crease clearing D-Man) could work pretty good. I'm probably being too optimistic though.

Not quite. Top 3 from each division do make the playoffs, with the next best 2 teams in each conference making up the final 2 spots. But there's no 1vs8, 2vs7 anymore. It's all within your division, and wild card.

So for the OP's case, the playoffs would be:

Central:

CHI vs PHX

STL vs NSH

Pacific:

VAN vs ANA

LA vs SJ

Metro:

PIT vs WSH

NYR vs PHI

Atlantic:

DET vs MTL

BOS vs OTT

With the winners of pacific and central playing each other, as well as the winners from the atlantic and metro divisions. Then those winners play for the cup.
