Team had more energy with the rookies

I realize it is only 1 game, but I liked the look of our team much more when Shink and Horvat were in. I can understand sending Bo down, his team is hosting the memorial cup and he has a good chance to make the world junior team. I also think Bo could use a season of offensive domination in juniors to prove he can pick up where he left off last year and produce more than a point a game.

Shinkaruk on the other hand is going to a team that from what I can tell, isn't going to be stacked with star players, or competing for a championship this year. I don't think Shinkaruk needed to work on his game other than being stronger on the puck, and maybe some conditioning. These things are easier to work on at the NHL level rather than playing in junior against smaller players.

Last night we looked terrible, granted it is 1 game, but our bottom two lines lacked any umph and outside of richardson and maybe santorelli, I didn't notice any of them in a good way.

What do you guys think?

Young players trying to impress coaches in training camp = energy.

Hard to imagine that they could sustain it for 82+ games. They are great prospects and we shouldn't risk them by pushing them too soon. Time in juniors is NOT wasted as a development step.

(i) A player on loan to a Club of any

league affiliated with the League may be recalled from such loan

under emergency conditions at any time for the duration of the

emergency only following which he must be returned promptly to

the club from which he was recalled.

(ii) Emergency conditions shall be

established when the playing strength of the loaning Club, by

reason of incapacitating injury or illness or by League

suspension to its players is reduced below the level of two (2)

goalkeepers, six (6) defensemen and twelve (12) forwards. Proof

of the existence of the emergency conditions including the

incapacity shall be furnished to the Commissioner of the League

upon request made by him.

...

(i) A Club recalling a Player from a minor

league club, under emergency conditions, must specify on the

transfer form the name of the injured, ill or suspended Player

whom the Player on emergency recall is replacing.

(ii) When an emergency condition

terminates, the Club must submit a transfer form indicating

whether the Player's status has converted to regular recall or

is assigned to his minor league club.

How it is used in real life...??

I agree, and have been wanting Horvat and Shinkaruk on this team since game one of the pre-season. But hey, Gillis injected youth into the lineup right? Dalpe, Stanton.

Absolutely weird how Gillis says we need to get younger and then sends down two elite prospects...

I think the vets got scared, they teamed up against bringing in our youth. You can see it in Tortorella's demeanor. He seemed to be rather upset BoHo and Shinkaruk got sent down.

These two are the type of players that inject a much needed energy boost in the lineup.

I don't think shinkaruk has anything left to prove at the junior level offensively. He needs to get used to playing against men in the nhl, for Bo on the other hand, I see the benefit of Junior.

I think it's hard to say they could not carry the energy all year, in shinkaruks case, I think he is just a ball of energy regardless of trying to impress anyone. I also think with his shot and some decent line mates he could have much more of an impact on this team than say, dale weise or to sestito.

I doubt he does, 4th line players shouldn't be too hard to come by, and the types of players we need should be pretty obvious. Zac Dalpe is definitely not the type of player we need on the 4th line, same with weise and sestito. It seems like our 4th line needs a good mix of players with speed, size and skill. Instead we get one of the three with each player...
