Not every trade involving prospects or picks has to be for a rental... Unfortunately our biggest pieces moved recently have yet to return much, thus far it has been a subtraction. Edler could have been a good guy to move, but it seems the NHL is starting to realize, that...well...he sucks... While all the guys he was potentially able to bring back, are tearing it up for other teams and no way they move any of em now. (JVR, Voracek, Ryan, Skinner ect)

We are kinda stuck, but it's not for any reason other than our own management. The same rules apply to all, we aren't especially screwed over. Well, at least not off the ice ;)

I would not give up on this season, Torts style goes stale quick. Maybe we can still grab someone like Simmonds or Lupul.

Gillis had a team that came within a few goals of a Stanley Cup.We lost due to injuries-a few major ones to key players that were not even called as penalties ,whatsoever.

If you read the stats again you will see that the Canucks are down in PP and goals for -and most importantly in percentage terms and placement positions VS ALL OTHER NHL teams.WAY,WAY DOWN.

It is not just because you think the Sedins aren't scoring. In actuality, the Sedins are on their career pace for scoring.

There is a lack of scoring up front and on D in comparison to all other years of his tenure-with the exception of year one.

Gillis gave away scoring talent and traded for others that have not scored as he thought they would.

His biggest trades were Booth and Kassian.

Clearly,Booth is not scoring as $4.2 m is expected and we won't go into Kassian because MG is ever hopeful for his blunder.

The fourth line on this team is far better. If Gillis and Co. had put together a proper fourth line for the run there would have been a more competitive team that could have made the difference.

This team is a shadow of it's former self with the exception of the fourth and third lines.

Still, the twins play with a third liner and $4.2m Booth props up the pluggers.Major mistakes that keep on giving.

A major reason the Canucks didn't win was because they lacked push back. They had a lot of skill but not much in the way of mental toughness. Teams could get under their skin and stay there. Teams could be down three games and the Canucks would let them back in to a series. They had no killer instinct.

I see a different mentality this year. One that works well in the playoffs. Everyone talks about the need for scoring, but the playoffs are a war. And the Canucks look ready for battle this time around.

The acquisition of an AHL franchise has long term positives for the org, more than most realize. IMHO it is the biggest development since acquiring Luongo.

Vancouver is developing player depth which did not exist 5 years ago. How Gillis transitions to the net generation by moving + 30 year old vets for pics and prospects will tell the tale. Over the next few years Burrows, Bieksa, the Twins and Luongo are all moveable.
