Canada Hockey Place
An idea to add a potential top 6 FW. NYI: Sbisa VAN: Grabner Been reading that NYI are looking for a physical Dman to add for a run. Sbisa might be a good fit. Grabner had trouble making back into the line-up after returning from surgery. This from a few weeks ago: Jack Capuano said Grabner has been pain-free since early in the week, but the Islanders aren't ready to put someone on waivers to make room for Grabner on the 23-man roster, nor will they remove a forward from the productive lineup. ^ This was just before injury to Visnovsky. Which opened a spot. Sbisa is RFA. Cap hit $2.175m. Grabner has 1 year remaining. Cap hit $3m. <- actual salary is $5m next season. -------------------------- I believe Stanton could fill that spot on the left side. But for depth/Utica an additional trade, DAL: prospect such as Blain ? VAN: Gaunce Gaunce has been called up but not played for DAL this season. Buried behind several players. Drafted 50th overall the same year as Sbisa. Played for Texas Stars last season. Is an upcoming RFA. Brother of Canucks prospect Brendan.
Rick Grimes
There was a time.... when I would have supported this; but it is not this time.

ken kaniff
Because Grabner would improve our top 6. I would be down to re acquire him for a decent price.

tyhee
Grabner has had health issues, but he could help. The Islanders are well-stocked with forwards that can play-as noted Grabner had trouble getting into the lineup when he became healthy. He's about 2 and a quarter years older than Sbisa, his cap hit is higher, he isn't physical and his production has faded, but Sbisa imo would need to improve somewhat to be as good as Grabner's been the past few seasons. It would change the Canucks F/D roster spots back to 14/7 from the recent 13/8 and would mean with Bieksa out that a defenceman, likely Sanguinetti, would get called up as the 7th defenceman and maybe get a chance to play during Bieksa's absence. On the downside, it would increase the problem with who the healthy forward scratch(es) would be. Just for fun, in the skills competition it would also be interesting to see a race between Austria (Grabner) and Denmark (Hansen.) All in all, this proposal seems reasonable to me. t
