Just thinking outside the box here and bringing it back to the Sedin draft..

If the Canucks get the 2nd or 3rd pick in the draft maybe we can make a trade to get the other pick (2nd or 3rd).

Then we could draft Patrik Laine and Jesse Puljujarvi.

To ???: Bo Horvat or McCann, Demko, 1st 2017.

To VAN: 2nd or 3rd over pick 2016

Flame away..

I think the 2 and 3 pick idea is worth exploring. Vancouver winning the lottery is unrealistic, besides I think Matthews has some flaws. Ever sen the movie "Draft Day" pretty much sums up what GMs think of Matthews.

I'm with the few others who stated that a team is built form the net out. Demo is one of the best goaltender prospects out there. Trade him for anything and you make any success harder. You just don't get a chance to have such high end goal talent all the time. The Finns are good but I wouldn't give up that bright goal future for them. There will be guys like the Finns in the draft next year and the year after. Demo doesn't come along all the time. I'd say no to any deal with Demko in it. Who plays goal for us in the future? Someone we are getting in free agency? Why? We already have it.

Rather have Mathews and Tckchuck and Boeser. We NEED snarl and physicality. Not passive players like the Sedins

How in the heck do we get Matthews and Tkatchuk?  It would be great, but...

We got snarl when we took Virtanen over Nylander and Ehlers. This organization hasn't had a true sniper in years. That's why we take Laine.

OK if we get the 2nd pick we definitely look to get the 3rd overall pick. We trade Miller while his value is high along with gaunce, our 2nd and maybe some sort of addition like the rights to vrbata or hamhuis or just give them our declining edler.  That's overpaying slightly but the Canucks would just be getting rid of players that barely or don't have a future with the team. Our new lineups are

sedins hansen

laine sutter puljuarvi

baerstchi horvat virtanen

McCann vey etem

dorset

Trade option 1: Miller edler gaunce and 2nd for 3rd

trade option 2: miller edler rights to hamhuis/vrbata 2nd for 3rd pick and 3rd round

our future top three lines

laine mccann puljuarvi

baertschi horvat virtanen

Sedins Hansen

we have tons of ppl we can trade,

edler miller hamhuis vrbata gaunce grenier and any picks past the first round

Why would a rebuilding team with a 2nd or 3rd overall trade their pick for 1 old goalie, a injury prone top 4 dman, a average prospect and a mid round pick?
