I don't buy the injury excuse, if you pay attention to other teams they had bigger injuries than us. Ei; Pittsburgh missed Malkin for 25and Letang for 11.

We're going through a transition phase pure and simple, every team will have a rough patch of 5-10 years. It's just worrisome if it lasts longer than 10 years.

We don't have a Crosby or Kessel to pick up the offense if our Malkin goes down.  Hank played injured for half the season.  Our second best centre was out for 60 games. Our top 3 rw took to sulking and quit playing 20 games into the season.

Letang for 11. Ha!!  At one point last year 3 of our weak top 3 defenders were injured at the same time. Sbisa became our number 1 D. Hammer for what, not even half a season if. Edler missed over 20 games and Tanev missed around 10.

Please say you are being sarcastic or trolling. Weak argument.

That's almost 1/7th of the season and we don't have a player on either level as those two. Henrik in his best two years might have been arguably as good or better as Malkin in his average years. (The one exception where he Was probably better was the hart trophy year).

We don't have a D-man of Letangs caliber. Tanev is really good in his own end but not an offensive contributor like Letang. Edler adds some offense but is usually atrocious in his own end hence why they needed a salo or Tanev to back up his defensive play for most of his career.

maybe 10 games injured isn't significant in your books but when it's to players that actually can be game changers I consider it significant. I don't know why it's so hard for our fanbase to accept that we're declining as our players age, but it's not a bad thing... It happens to every team and we'll be competitive again once the new generation hits its prime.

Okay,

Your original arguement was that Pits man games lost due to injury somehow equated our plague of injuries. Which is simply not true.

We lost our best three defenders for significant time last year, we lost our second best centre for pretty much the entire season, and Hank busted up his hand for half the year, was unable to pass as well, win draws etc. It clearly affected his ability to contribute on the ice.

Malkin and Letang are better than our player. And yes we have young players that hopefully develop and older declining players. No arguement.

Injuries were here the leading cause of our dismal season, exposing our terrible lack of depth at almost all positions.  Had we been healthy, we had a fair chance of making the playoffs. We would not have gone far, and I am really glad we got Juolevi. So in the end the team may be a lot stronger for it.

The Torts year was IMO much worse. If we were down 1-0 you knew the game was over. At least this past season you could say we injected rookies into the lineup, its just that our D was AHL quality with all the injuries.

It's not like our offense was any better than our D.  Soft, lazy with the exception of a few guys.
