J.I.A.H.N Posted December 6, 2018 Share Posted December 6, 2018 Ok, Kind of a strange one....could be a major fail Trade 1 Carolina trades Scott Darling + Adam Fox + Conditional 2019 2nd (if Fox doesn't sign we get the 2019 2nd) To Vancouver trades Granlund + 2020 3rd Trade 2 Vancouver trades Scott Darling 50% retained To Chicago trades Dylan Sikura + Cam Ward In the Carolina trade, we take $3M+ a year away taking Darling, which they will need next year, we get the rights to Fox, and if he doesn't sign it is our risk, but we get a small upgrade in picks. Granlund can be put in an offensive roll that might bring him back to his 19 goals per season...…. In the Chicago trade, Ward has only one year, and Chicago getting Darling back at 50% for 3 years, is worth giving up Sikura OK......maybe it is a stretch...…...but we don't have much to trade except cap, and I really like Sikura at North Eastern There is also a chance that we could flip either Ward or Nelsson at the TDL for a late pick Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Both goalies stink, so in this trade the Hawks are just giving up a prospect to save money when money isn't even a problem. The don't need a back up next year after Ward's contract expires as they have already made it clear their plans are to promote Colin Delia from Rockford. And if Ward is going to have any value at the TDL, then why wouldn't the Hawks just trade him at that time? Then they keep Sikura and get something for Ward. Sure they will need to re-sign Aho and Teravainen, but that's all the major ones they need to work with and they are projected to have over 40 million in cap space for next year. They may have an internal cap, but I doubt they will be close to it especially if they are still considering moving some dmen like Faulk or Pesce. Locking in Fox for them as a cheap defender will only help them with their internal cap as well (of course only if he is willing to sign there).
