EP40.
1 hour ago, Nail said: 2019 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 5 EUROPEAN EDITION Marko Scheweleff (LW) Scheweleff is a rare breed, a 6'4 209 lbs finesse forward. Playing games in both Liiga and the Junior league this system, Scheweleff has found great success playing for KalPa in the men's division with 25 points in 29 games. Playing against men older than him, he also possesses an incredible 7.62 AVR. Scheweleff was drafted 3rd overall to Kootenay in the CHL Import Draft, however with his recent success playing pro, it is unlikely he will end up there next year. Emil Birgersson (RD/RW) How about a player who can play both D and F? Birgesson is a offensive playmaking rover, who is comfortable playing both positions. Through 29 games with Frolunda's J20 team, Birgersson has 35 points including 13 goals, while predominantly playing in as a defenceman. Birgersson was drafted to the Vancouver Giants in the CHL Import Draft, and will make a decision on where he wants to play following the draft. Sascha Kainz (C) Kainz is a 6'2 Austrian two-way forward who is currently playing in the Austrian Alps league. Through 40 games, Kainz has 24 goals and 50 points, and boasts a 7.43 AVR. Kainz is a late birthday, so he is a bit older than the rest of his draft peers which has allowed him to find success playing pro already. It is rumoured that Kainz would prefer to stay in Europe until he is ready to make the jump to the NHL. Georgi Mirchev (LW/RW) Mirchev is a Bulgarian defensive winger who is currently playing for Windsor in the OHL. Through 59 games, Mirchev has a respectable 19 goals and 31 points. What is more impressive is that Mirchev also has 139 hits and 78 shot blocks. It is rumoured that Mirchev may be ready to challenge for an NHL roster spot as soon as next season, due to his defensive play. How high will teams attempt to draft a defensively responsible rare flag? Zdenek Stepanovsky (RD/LD) It's been a tale of two seasons for the Czech playmaking defenceman. On one hand, he has dominated in the Czech junior league with 29 points in 26 games, sporting a 7.54 AVR. On the other hand, in limited action in Extraliga, Stepanovsky still has 3 points in 6 games but has an AVR of 5.83. It is quite obvious that Stepanovsky isn't quite ready for pro hockey yet, but how much longer will it take and how high is his ceiling? Popular Post Nail
2019 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 6 THE FINAL EDITION Yannik Valenti (LW/RW) Might be one of the best pure goal scorers in this draft. Playing in the DEL against men, has 27 goals in 46 games (tied for league lead with Tom Pyatt). Pure sniper that definitely has some issues with other aspects of his game (skating, defense most notably) however has the talent to put the puck in the net from anywhere on the ice. Raphael Lavoie (C) A 6'5 center two-way forward that just put up 31 points in 65 games. Has improved his offensive output in each of his 3 seasons in the QMJHL. May not project as an offensive player in the NHL, however there is no doubts that Lavoie will one day be an NHLer. Very good speed for a big man. Tag Bertuzzi (LW/RW/C) Todd's son, just enjoyed a productive second season in the OHL with 45 points in 66 games. Plays a powerforward game similar to his dad, and has a surprisingly good shot. Loves to get involved physically, spent 135 minutes in the box this year after 126 last year. Serron Noel (RW) Passed over completely in the draft last year, Noel has come back with a vengeance this year. Noel led the OHL in scoring with 87 points including 46 goals in 68 games. His 7.81 AVR was one of the tops in the league, and Noel may be able to step into pro hockey as early as next year. This is a massive improvement off of last season, where he was only able to appear in 19 OHL games, putting up 3 points. Sasha Mutala (RW/LW) A RGMG folk hero, Mutala had an alright season with Saskatoon in the WHL putting up 29 points in 65 games. Mutala projects as a two-way forward who is defensively responsible at the next level, but is also a guy that can chip in with offence. The Vancouver native may be one of the fastest skaters in this draft class. 3 1 1
