TRADE: The Philadelphia Flyers have made a trade with the Vancouver Canucks.

Not a trade I made lightly. Losing Demek was definitely disappointing as is losing Gannon. At the end of the day though we have to many contracts and felt we could optimize some of our youth capital with a young player in Ozzy we have really liked since his draft year. The kid brings it every game and competes hard. He has a fiery side to him and he can be a real pest when he wants too. Our goal is to build a team with players who fit our criteria and Ozzy fits a lot of the boxes we envision having in players.

We wish all the others well including Michael. A player we believe could get some NHL time in the near future.  This felt like a good opportunity to shed some contracts, give theo back some of his boys as the former gm of PHI, and upgrade our forward prospect pool. Ozzy will be reporting to Victoriaville to join our AHL affiliate.

Prospects we have added since taking over the Flyers:

at the ahl/jr levels:

Oskar Olausson

John Beecher
Shane Bowers

Jay O'Brien

Ozzy Wiesblatt

Brennan Othmann
Simon Robertsson

Prokhor Poltapov
Liam Dower Nilsson

Denton Mateychuk

at the nhl level:

Filip Zadina

Arber Xhekaj

Open to trades with any of these players aside from Othmann, Olausson, or Mateychuk who could be made available for immediate NHL youth but likely stay put.

We also have Have 8 x 2nd round picks, 11 x 3rds, 3 x 4ths and 2 x 1sts over the next two years. All of which could be packaged with prospects or current nhler's in the right deal to make immediate roster improvements or help us acquire higher more elite end talent.

The Blue Jackets organization is over the moon excited about this trade. Thanks to everyone we talked to about both players - there was a number of outstanding offers on both, but ultimately this was the perfect fit for us. We needed to address both the short and long-term future of our goaltending and defence, and we were able to add quality young pieces in both areas. We needed a young forward back to help offset losing two quality young forwards, and we are very high on Shane Pinto and his IRL Senators going forward. And finally we're continuing to try to replenish the prospect pool, and here we were able to add two decent pieces on IRL teams we like a lot for the near future.

Thanks to HOH for the negotiations on this trade. This went back and forth for a few days, and really turned a corner this evening. We lost some good young players at every position here, but we feel as though we gained 2 great young players. This trade will only help us as we look to continue our push this season and continue to stay competative in the East. We felt that this trade helped us upgrade our forward group for the now and into the future. We really hope to see Jesperi turn a corner in the near future and up his game, as well as Anton round out into the player that almost made him a calder finalist last season. We really valued what we had in Shane Pinto and Nicolas Hague, and wish them all the best. We will also keep tabs on Daniil as he develops into what we could only imagine will be a starter in this league one day soon. Welcome to Jesperi and Anton. We look forward to seeing what they can both do here in Tampa Bay!

Welcome Carey!

I think we stole the trade trophy for today with this veznia caliber goalie add! Getting a future hockey Hall of famer is a huge accomplishment for our organization!

Sorry to steal your thunder @HighOnHockey
