[Proposal] Demko to Ottawa

You bet.   So ... what sort of "haul" is a goalie with one full season under his belt, injured and 3 great playoff games going to get?   Less than Schneider (9th overall) i'm sure.    And those goalies were great.

Demko's got potential to be a very good goalie for us,  and his cap hit is excellent IF he can pull off a stretch of top ten seasons and play 60-65 games for us.   Thanks for adding.   Those goalies were very good to elite.    Ranford's 90 playoffs was one of the best goalie performance's i've ever seen.   Playing against some tough, talented teams.

Yeah and in some cases very good goalies in their prime - Tom Barrasso, Mike Liut, Glenn Resch, Don Beaupre, Glen Hanlon, Don Edwards, Jon Casey not long after getting the North Stars to the final - didn't bring back a whole lot.

Well since Ottawa's starting goalie is now done for the season or longer maybe Demko becomes more attractive.  Unless they just throw in the towel for the rest of the year.

Hamonic pushed a player on top of him to injure him apparently.

The OP's deal seems even a little light in terms of how desperate they could be now.  Double MCL tears on a goalie.... yikes.  Depending on how severe the tears are, that could effectively be the end of his career.  An easily repairable injury that could just mean a couple months out and then some rehab.  But if severe, that could impact next season as well.   Just a little hitch in his movement or fraction less mobility could be the difference between being an NHL goalie or not.  If a goalie's knees or hip aren't 100%, they just can't play the position.

Demko
Myers
Rathbone

for
Zaitsev
Bernard-Docker
Ostapchuk
2023 1st round pick (top 3 protected... turns into an unprotected 2024 1st if we don't get it in 2023)

I'd be interested in something like this, if Ottawa actually wants to compete next season having a Demko could go a long way. Assuming he bounces back to look closer to what he was the two seasons prior.

With moves like the Giroux signing and the Debrincat trade there may be an appetite for some actual stability in net from an Ottawa club that wants to take steps forward.

Or maybe they'll just embrace getting what'll probably be a top 7-8 pick and try again next season, hard to say.
