  1. Rice is 24 and was an important player for West Ham. They won the UEFA Conference League this year. He is also an important player for England going forward. Being and English player, there are registration benefits AKA the English tax. If Rice was not from the UK, he would be a little bit cheaper, but not by much. Man City put in an offer of £80m up front, plus £10m in add-ons, so their price wasn't much lower than the £100m up front, plus £5m in add-ons that Arsenal bid. Havertz is 24 and is a German international. He came from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea in 2020 for £62 million, which could rise to £71 million with add-ons. He didn't light the Bridge up so his transfer is for about what Chelsea paid for him. He is young and may fit better in Arsenal's system than he did at Chelsea. He'll likely slot in the mid-field with Rice and Ødegaard.
  2. https://deadline.com/2023/06/nicolas-coster-dead-actor-santa-barbara-all-my-children-1235425211/ Nicolas Coster Dies: ‘Santa Barbara’, ‘All My Children’, ‘All The President’s Men’ Actor Was 89 Nicolas Coster (1986)Getty Images Nicolas Coster, the British-American actor who played an evasive lawyer in All the President’s Men (“I’m not here,” he insisted to Robert Redford’s Bob Woodward as the two sat in a courtroom), a fiendish kidnapper in All My Children, zany businessman Lionel Lockridge on Santa Barbara, and the father of Lisa Whelchel’s Blair Warner in The Facts of Life, died Monday at a hospital in Florida. He was 89. His death was announced by his daughter Dinneen Coster on social media. “There is great sadness in my heart this evening, my father actor Nicolas Coster has passed on in Florida at 9:01 pm in the hospital,” Dinneen Coster wrote on Facebook. “Please be inspired by his artistic achievements and know he was a real actor’s actor! A cause of death was not given. A prolific actor whose career spanned decades on television and encompassed both leading and character roles, was born in London to a British mother and a New Zealand father. Raised mostly in California, Coster returned to England to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art then studied acting with Lee Strasberg in New York. After a few early credited TV roles were in 1950s, Coster landed frequent, if small, roles throughout the ’60s on such series as No Time For Sergeants, Felony Squad, The Green Hornet and N.Y.P.D. In the ’70s he had roles in feature films such as All the President’s Men (1976) and 1776 (1972) but mostly focused on television, with guest roles on The Blue Knight, Charlie’s Angels, Little House on the Prairie, Baretta, Family, The Rockford Files, One Day at a Time, Wonder Woman, The Incredible Hulk and Dallas. His ’80s work included feature films Stir Crazy and Reds, and TV series Hart to Hart, Police Squad!, Simon & Simon, Knight Rider, L.A. Law, Thirtysomething, Matlock and many others. His most recent credits included a 2021 episode of American Crime Story and the 2020 feature The Last Exorcist. But Coster will likely be best remembered for his memorable performances, both long term and short term, on a raft of daytime soaps: Coster had regular or recurring roles on such series Another World, All My Children, As the World Turns, One Life to Live, Another World, and, perhaps most notably, Santa Barbara, in which he played the wealthy patriarch Lionel Lockridge on and off from 1984 to 1993, accumulating four Daytime Emmy nominations. In 2017, he won his first Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting or Guest Actor category for his performance in The Bay. Complete information on survivors was not immediately available.
  3. One "positive" of this is that a draw with Guadeloupe won't affect our FIFA ranking as they are not a FIFA member.
  4. It gets worse. https://www.insider.com/oceangate-ceo-said-titan-made-old-material-bought-boeing-report-2023-6 OceanGate CEO once said Titan sub's hull was made with carbon fiber from Boeing that was past its airplane shelf life, would-be passenger says
  5. This was a top comment for what I posted earlier: Do you want to know why so few accidents are a result of mechanical failure? Because of minimum safety standards such as those in class rules on the construction, installation, and maintenance of shipboard systems. Edit: I am from the U.S., so am most familiar with the classification society "American Bureau of Shipping" (ABS) which is mentioned in this letter. Here are some of the rules from ABS Rules for Building and Classing Underwater Vehicles, Systems, and Hyperbaric Facilities (2021), Section 11 which media reports indicate the Titan may not comply with. These rules if followed may aid in rescue operations if the vessel had chosen to follow this classification standard. (Other classes have different but similar rules and standards). Another comment was about how the wireless controller had no redundancy. Like, if the battery on the controller failed, they were screwed. In a lot of cases, regulations are paid in blood. This debacle should hopefully lead to greater regulation and enforcement of said regulation.
  6. Tell us of a side effect that occurred after 60 days for any vaccine. We will wait. We will shortly reach the 3 year anniversary of the thousands who participated in the clinical trials. There are millions who have been fully vaccinated for 2 and 1/2 years. It's been 2 years for me. And many of those have had boosters. We're all waiting for these long-term side effects to kick in.
  7. I like that some other players will get a go. We have a few years to get ready for '26. These other players will need to play. Atiba's spot is up for grabs. I would argue that goal keeper is another spot.
  8. Pretty good deal for the GOAT. Turn $275 million into billions. And retain a minority stake. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/37863644/sources-michael-jordan-finalizing-charlotte-hornets-sale Sources: Michael Jordan agrees to sell Hornets stake for $3B

  10. Ja was repeating behaviour that got him suspended the first time. Meaning, he is a repeat offender. Meaning that his punishment should be increased. Meaning the minimum would be double digit games. Meaning that if he continues down this path, half or more season suspensions are now on the table. Meaning he better be a good boy, or he's gonna hurt real bad. The union has to say what they said, but they really don't have much of anything to stand on here.
  11. It's a fairly new competition that was created to get rid of largely useless friendlies. Because of Covid, the format was kinda changed for this run. Its supposed to have the members of CONCACAF divided into leagues. The top teams in League A play for the trophy. The bottom ones get relegated into League B. The top teams in League B get promoted to League A. The US won the 1st edition. Mexico was 2nd. Honduras was 3rd. Costa Rica was 4th. We are in the final. We play the winner of USA vs Mexico. The European finals are also happening this Sunday. Croatia vs Spain.
