  1. ARZ would be paying 1mill salary on a 6mill cap hit. They don't have money to spend and Myers helps them reach cap floor saving 5 mill in actual dollars. Myers at 1 mill salary is a real good player. Only teams that wouldn't want him are the cap ceiling teams who are trying to win now because they want a better player at 6mill cap hit. We're cap strapped. We can get rid Myers' 6 mill cap and get a better player via trade or UFA signing.
  2. Caps look like they made the best deal of the tdl. Sandin turned 23 yrs old just a few days ago. He's showing great so far. 8 points in 4 games and playing huge minutes. Makes 1.4 mill and RFA after next season.
  3. With Horonek at RD and a solid 3C that this team will get in the summer were going to be a real good team next year.
  4. He cost a 2nd round pick more than hronek. Plus we needed a RD not LD. We've needed a RD like Hronek since Benning took over the team almost a decade ago. A puck moving RD who can walk the line and shoot the puck. Hardest position to fill similar to a 1C
  5. ARZ is a bottom feeder. They have no issues trading with west because they wont be in the playoffs anytime soon. The traded player won't come back to hurt them in playoffs.
  6. In fairness all 3 of those players continues develope in their respective leagues after being drafted. They were all high end prospects. EP developed in Sweden and Hughes stayed a year in college. EP lit up the SHL. They were both high end prospects not playing in the NHL. Podz stayed in Russia until his contract expired. He was also a high end prospect not playing in the NHL. We don't have anything like that currently.
  7. Canucks have to be the leading destination for JL. He's from BC and he fits right in at top 4 RD position. Win win situation. Very good chance he'll be a Canuck in 1 months time.
  8. We need Bedard. Tochet should roll 4 lines and work towards next season. Need the tank.
  9. Why wait? Just for the sake of waiting ? They went after a player they coveted. The Wings agreed to give them the player they asked for. So as far as JR and PA are concerned they want to get this done as soon as possible before Wings change their mind. Or the word gets out that Horonek is available and another team comes in with a way better offer. Why would the Canucks wait? Waiting would have been detrimental to what they are attempting to achieve.
  10. Initially I liked the trade. Particularly because EP40 and Hughes Demko Kuz are all solid pieces that we can't afford to lose if we do a complete rebuild. Now I'm liking the trade even more. This kid just turned 25 in November. He's just about to hit his prime. A RD with top pair skills is an extremely difficult get. Benning was trying to get this type of player his whole tenure here and never succeeded. Horonek wasn't on the market. This is where a guy like JR comes in. He called Stevey Y and asked for the player. It's hard saying no to a guy like JR who's accomplished so much and spent decades in the NHL. I'm sure in the future if Y calls and asks for something and Canucks are In a position to help it will be reciprocated. NHL teams are built on relationships. A veteran future hall of famer like JR has a lot of respect and credibility around the league Top pair RD, can PP and PK, can walk the blue line and make crisp passes. One of the hardest players to get in the NHL. And he's at the rype age of 25yrs 4 months. I think Canucks fans will like this trade a lot more in a year or two. We need some luck in the draft lottery and we're a lot closer than we were a week ago.
  11. I watched Yzerman's post trade deadline press conference. Hronek wasn't offered on the trade market. Seraveli said this on 650 previously and Y confirmed it. Canucks targeted Horonek and approached DET asking for him. So this isn't like the Canucks seeing something they liked on the market and made an impulsive purchase. They thought it through targeted a player and approached the team with an offer.
  12. Ummm yes they were. They sucked. Finished 9th from the bottom in 2019. He'll go where he gets ice time and have chance to earn another contract over being a 7th Dman on a good team.
  13. He seems to be fine on a bottom feeder Vancouver team. Atleast ARZ and SJ have much better weather. A nice, sunny, golf city over Van for 1 year? Many people would prefer that. Canucks, Sharks, Ducks, Coyotes are all within 2 or 3 wins of each other. We're all bottom feeders.
  14. Someone should post a list of all of Milsteins clients. It'll help narrow down who we're trading for next.
  15. Yes he does have 10 team ntc. But he'll be playing for a new contract. And being on a bad team playing lots of mins will give him more exposure. He wouldn't want to be a 7D on a good team
  16. Myers will be super easy to move in summer. He gets 5 mill signing bonus and 1 mill salary. After the signing bonus is payed he'll be easy to send to a team like ARZ. They have no money and need to reach cap floor.
  17. So now apparently we're after a forward who was a recent high 1st round pick... This trade deadline has been the most exciting for Canucks fans in a very ling time. Imagine we trade our own 1st this year... CDC will have a melt down. Now matter who comes back if we give up our 1st it'll be Bedard protected.
  18. Apparently Canucks went after Horonek. Seraveli says he talked to other GMs and they didn't even know Horonek was available. It seems Canucks wanted him targeted him and went to DET asking for him. Horonek wasn't on the trade market as in DET calling teams and telling them he's available.
