So this made me laugh. Apparently there's a thunderstorm and wind warning in effect for this evening.

Warnings

Metro Vancouver

10:55 AM PDT Wednesday 19 May 2010

Wind warning for

Metro Vancouver issued

Southeast winds up to 80 km/h developing by early evening.

This is a warning that potentially damaging winds are expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

An intense late spring storm will move through the south coast this evening.

A deepening low pressure system offshore will cause southeast winds up to 80 km/h to develop this afternoon over West Vancouver Island. This evening the strong southeast winds will develop over metro Vancouver..East Vancouver Island..Sunshine Coast..Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands. Winds will diminish and shift to southwest near midnight as the low moves away from the area.

Meanwhile rainfall associated with the storm will spread across the south coast beginning this afternoon. The highest total rainfall accumulation is expected over the Howe Sound region with rainfall amounts up to 60 mm expected in this area through Thursday.

Additionally throughout the Inner South coast there is the possibility of thunderstorms developing with the onset of precipitation late this afternoon. At this time it appears that the greatest risk for severe thunderstorms is over the Fraser Valley. Thunderstorms there could produce intense downpours..Hail and strong winds. The threat of thunderstorms will start to diminish over the Fraser Valley this evening.
