Thanks for the updates again Shaelon

Just one thing I am confused about: The "points to clinch" columns are great but I don't get how for example Tampa Bay can clinch the conference seed with 11 points. They can only attain 6 more points because they have 3 games remaining and therefore cannot reach 11. Is this 11 points a combination of points gained for TB and points not gained by the first place team in the east, kind of like Magic #?

Otherwise the addition of the playoff indicator chart is awesome!

That's exactly what it means.

TBL needs 11 Points to officially clinch the division title. They can not reach it thus they rely on the teams above them (WSH) to lose enough games for TBL to get the points needed. It works almost like a Magic Number.

It's the most...wonderful time...of the yeeeeeaaaar.

I just came up with a brilliant (to me, at least) idea for next season: Leafs Elimination Date Pool

1. Set up a 2011-12 calendar just before the season starts
2. Like a "Baby Pool", people buy (eg. $2/each) the specific date(s) they think the Leafs will be officially eliminated from playoff contention
3a. Correct (or closest) date wins the pot!
3b. If *snicker* the Leafs actually make the playoffs, the pot gets donated to their charity (MLSE Team Up Foundation)

Thoughts?

Biggest playoff problem in Philly: goaltending. Solution: get the best regular season goalie out there. Hmmm...I don't think you've thought your cunning plan all the way through.

Doesn't really matter to me who we play although I actually would like them to play Chicago so they can finally slay that dragon. I would say I believe there is a possibility we could play Phoenix cause they play the Sharks twice and might struggle to get more points.

Phoenix is looking like a good possibility now, that would be all home games for the Canucks!

OP, I can't see the tables on the front page, could it be a problem with my browser?

I always find it neat when, like this year in the west, there's only one team on the outside looking in, but there's 4 different teams they could knock out.

I love how Dallas' chances of making the playoffs went from 7.5% up to 30% in like a day.

According to this article:

http://www.nhl.com/i...vid=DL|NHL|home

Philly may actually lose top spot in their division. Talk about a fall from grace. They were pushing for top in the league, and now they might lose their division.

Lots of important games tonight. A Chicago win and a Nashville loss will put Chicago in 4th. An Anaheim loss might clinch them 8th. A Dallas win could tie them with Anaheim but keep them in 9th because of the tie breaker, but one more Dallas win and one more Anaheim loss and we could face Anaheim in round 1.

Standings will look very different in the morning.

And ANA-LAK, SJS-PHX play each other again tomorrow. DET-CHI on Sunday. Hard, almost like addition playoff games for them. :D

im not sure if i calculated everything right, but i think an anaheim and stars regulation wins in their final games will leave me very pleased.

then everything will depend on the blackhawks game. if chicago wins, we face la first round, if they lose, we face dallas.

personally, id prefer to play la or dallas instead of anaheim or chicago.

The Blackhawks game will be over by the time the Dallas or Anaheim games start. If Chicago gets even one point, then Dallas' game becomes meaningless. On the otherhand, a Chicago regulation loss, and the Duck's game becomes meaningless.

When I say win, I mean any type of win, and when I say loss, I mean any type of loss.

So it's:

1. Chicago win + Anaheim win = LA first round

2. Chicago win + Anaheim loss = Anaheim first round

3. Chicago OT/shootout loss + Anaheim regulation win = LA first round

4. Chicago OT/shootout loss + Anaheim OT/shootout anything= Chicago first round

5. Chicago OT/shootout loss + Anaheim regulation loss=Anaheim first round

6. Chicago regulation loss + Dallas ROW win= Dallas first round

7. Chicago regulation loss + Dallas shootout win= Chicago first round

8. Chicago regulation loss + Dallas loss= Chicago first round

8 scenarios:

3/8=Chicago
2/8=Anaheim
2/8=LA
1/8=Dallas

Edit: I read the schedule wrong. The Anaheim game is on Saturday, then the Chicago game early on Sunday, followed by the Dallas game which is the last game of the regular season. So we'll actually know the Anaheim result first which will eliminate some scenarios, though not as many as if the Chicago game came first.

9 scenarios:

3/9=LA
3/9=Chicago
2/9=Anaheim
1/9=Dallas

lets hope its either la or dallas that we end up with. good thing that those two teams cover more than half the possible outcomes.

Well Detroit did turn their game around, it was definitely one of the best games of the year.

anybody concerned that Phoenix has more goals scored than us and has a better GD? Before you guys were talking about how garbage they were and couldn't pass the neutral zone.
