He will probably go 5-6 picks ahead of us, but definitely would be happy if we got Dalton Thrower. That being said, Andreas Athanasiou would probably be more realistic.

I remember in March last year looking at the draft rankings and wishing that Jensen would be available for us to draft as he was Danish and from a town a very short distance from my own Danish family and has the same surname, but I had little actual belief that he would be available seeing as they had him predicted to go 15th-17th and I was stoked out of my mind when we picked him. So keep your hopes up, we might just get Thrower after all :)

It's between him and Grigorenko.

Grigorenko might pull ahead in many team's rankings with Nail's regular-season ending injury.
http://www.sportsnet...yakupov_injury/

honestly, If I had the 1st overall, i'd trade down to second, get an additional piece and take the bigger, tougher, Grigorenko (if i knew the team i was trading with wanted nail.)

The Wolves lost 3-1 to the Peoria Rivermen today. Mark Mancari scored the lone goal for the Wolves, his 26th of the season, with the assists going to Mark Matheson and Byron Bitz. Eddie Lack was in goal and stopped 23 of 25 shots. The 3rd Peoria goal was an empty netter.

IF we trade Cory Schneider, we absolutely NEED MAKAROV's skill!! he's a lot more solid than Eddie Lack and will flourish into Luongo's successor. So frickin good.

Drafting a goalie in the first few rounds (especially with the Canucks depth) is absolutely stupid.

Im actually really surprised that Byron Bitz is centering Rodin and Mancari, now Reintrept with Miller and Haydar...is this a demotion?

what the heck happens if we get rid of Schneider, huh? I say get rid of schneids at a high price and get Makarov. you think Eddie Lack is ready? Makarov is 2 times better at everything he does. but yeah drafting a goalie in the 1st round might not be such a good idea.

draft Tanner Pearson in the 1st round, then Andrey makarov in the 2nd.

Hahahaha, are you kidding me? Makarov is 2 times better at everything he does? There is a big difference between WHL (Junior Hockey) and AHL (Pro Hockey). Not only does Eddie Lack have much better stats at a much higher level of play, but he also has more shutouts than Makarov in 15 less games played. Eddie Lack is considered one of the best goalies in the AHL and is almost NHL ready with tons of room to improve. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way hating on Makarov and I'm sure that he will develop in to a great goalie, but saying that he is 2 times better than Lack is just ridiculous.

The Canucks also have a great goalie by the name of Joe Cannata. He is one of the better goalies in College hockey. He just finished his final season and is capable of being our next AHL starter when/if Eddie Lack moves to the NHL back-up position.

The Canucks drafting a goalie high in the draft isn't a good idea.

Who would I like to see the Canucks draft? Mathew Dumba. He can carry the puck from end to end in a big time hurry. He would add to the speed and possesion game the Canucks like to play. He is a gamer.

I just like how he played at the world juniors and how he's doing in Saskatoon. a great Russian goalie, but yeah it was kinda wrong for me to say two times better.

The Stork isnt the best goalie in the AHL.

he's one of the best in the AHL
3rd in Sv%
7th in GAA
with a fairly underperforming team in front of him all season.

we have a couple of talented offensive d-man prospects in Connauton, and McNally, and in some ways Corrado and Price. we also have a bunch of solid defensive d-men prospects in tanev, polasek, and sauve.

Just pick the best player available (as long as its not a goalie). Drafting for need in the NHL isn't optimal as you can fill those holes with UFA and by the time the guy you draft is NHL ready you may have a glut of those types of players.
