I can't believe everyone is saying no to the original suggested trade. 4th liners are a dime a dozen. A Canucks 1st round pick is nice but not too high up on the chart. Schroeder has some promise but is a prospect and not a blue chip one. Plenty of people would love to just get out of the Ballard contract and get nothing for it. In fact, plenty of people would probably give away a 3rd rounder for the privilege. Malhotra is a good player but not "untouchable." Bobby Ryan is a serious, serious acquisition. Are you trying to tell me he wouldn't be an upgrade over Burrows on the first line or an upgrade over everyone but Kesler on the second? Be realistic...
