RFA re-signing:

The Nashville Predators have re-signed Maxim Goncharov to a 3 year 3.3million dollar contract (1.1mil per season)

RFA re-signing:

The Nashville Predators have re-signed Bill Sweat to a 3 year 3.6 million dollar contract (1.2mil per season).

Very happy to have Bill and Maxim resigned. We will send them to our minor league affiliate for now.

Nashville may also move the RFA Rights to Akim Aliu, the Negotiating Rights to Bruno Gervais and Daymond Langkow for any picks in this upcoming draft. PM myself is interested.

Well this might change things this summer in Montreal:

NHL on TSN@NHLonTSN
The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed defenseman Kevin Connauton to a three-year contract through the 2015-16 season

Mike Heika @MikeHeika
Just talked to Jim Nill re: Kevin Connauton's new contract. Because he requires waivers, Stars expect him to play in NHL next year.

With 8 d-men listed on the main club as well as Brent Burns up front, news of Connauton potentially playing in the NHL next season could necessitate a move. Teams looking for a d-man should contact the Habs.

Heads up to GMs:

Anyone looking to bolster their defensive core should contact the Panthers as we currently have an abundance, and are willing to listen to offers on a number of players, looking for forward prospects and picks.

TRADE: The New York Rangers have made a trade with the Colorado Avalanche.

To NYR:
Mikael Backlund
Zach Stepan
STL 2013 1st Round Draft Selection (10th overall)
EDM 2014 2nd Round Draft Selection

To COL:
David Moss
NYR 2013 1st Round Draft Selection (6th overall)

After weeks of denial that the 6th overall was in play, I got an offer I couldn't refuse. By dropping down four spots in the draft we managed to add the Young and Talented Mr. Mikael Backlund to our forward group and added Zach Stepan to our prospect pool, as well as picking up a 2nd round pick for next years draft. An Asset added for each of the steps down the draft we took. Unfortunately David Moss was the price we paid as a club to get the deal we wanted. David is an exceptional player and he will be missed, but certainly will do well on the ice wherever he plays.

Recently we re-signed Cody Bass, who is already on board with the game plan. Cody is a strategic piece of our entire organization and if he doesn't make the team in camp, we know we will see him later in the year, as he continues to add valuable leadership to the Connecticut Whale.

Nick Palmieri was brought in as well, and Nick is also going to be there pushing our vets in camp this fall, we intended to build a deep, young, talented machine that can win games in New York and on the farm. We envision our parts as interchangeable to a large degree, and focused on one organizational goal. It is hard to rank our farm team by line or defensive pairing, and it should be, as we intend to carry young men that can compete at a CDCGML level, even if they are currently down in Connecticut. We know injuries are a norm in the new pro game and team depth wins championships just as much as defense wins championships.

Full roster breakdowns to follow, but in lieu of taking questions i will just add that we are not finished. We have another 11 guys on our target board, and we intend to bring in two of them during the offseason, if we can manage it.

New York Rangers Offseason Depth Chart

Vanek, Thornton, Hudler

Latendresse, Stajan, Foligno
Mattias, Brent, Brown

Connecticut Whale Offseason Roster

Ashton, Welsh, Shalunov
Bass, McRae, Palmieri
Cunningham, McMillan, Cowick
Johnston...................Testwuide

Carson, Wishart
Murphy Teubert
Moore

Chad Johnson

Prospect Pool:
Ville Pokka, Mikko Vainonen, Joonas Korpisalo, Patrick Sieloff, Nick Ebert, Zach Stepan.

10th overall pick 2013 draft, 66th overall pick 2013 draft
a 1st, two 2nds and a third in the 2014 entry draft.

The Rangers Organization would like to thank players who have conducted their exit interviews and wish them all the best in life and on the ice. Marc-Andre Gragnani, Niko Hovinen, Mattias Sjogren, Trent Hunter, and Zach Stortini, you all played a professional part in our story and our history, no matter how big or short that part was, we thank you and you will be always with us.

This was a very important signing for us , Tyler is a very important part of our offense and while he is a very good player we feel he is only going to get better as he has still to reach his prime. Tyler will play Left wing on our second line which is more like a 1b line. The Blackhawks would like to thank Mike V for all of the work he has put in, his professionalism and attention to detail is second to none,

We made a big decision last year to trade Brian Elliot to Give Anton his shot at the big time and now he has rewarded us by signing this 2 year contract. If Jaroslav can get back to full health and his best form we believe we have a very strong goaltending tandem.
