Primal Optimist
I have been thinking, Curt, about your thoughts on what the 2nd team location might be in the Western Conference if indeed the league expands by two teams to balance the divisions...assuming Seattle is added to the proposed Pacific Division, then I was looking around the map and thinking of metro areas with big populations that might support a hockey team. Kansas City was about one of the only places in the geographical 'Mid-West' that may fit the idea. the Greater K.C. urban population is 2million...i wonder if this is on the radar at the league HQ. Winnipeg has 3/4 of a million...phoenix is 1.5million... Thoughts? EDIT: I did not know the Kansas City Scouts were in the NHL in the 70's..relocated to Colorado and later New Jersey where they thrived as the Devils. The More You know. wallstreetamigo
I don't see the gap between the conferences as that big of an issue overall. by the time they have to face each other in the playoffs the playing field should be evened out for each of the teams left standing, shouldn't it? The overall league standings don't seem to mean all that much in terms of the playoffs. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks this way anyway. If the Eastern teams are that much better they are that much better. Not really a lot you can do about it.
