I don't see the gap between the conferences as that big of an issue overall. by the time they have to face each other in the playoffs the playing field should be evened out for each of the teams left standing, shouldn't it?

The overall league standings don't seem to mean all that much in terms of the playoffs.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks this way anyway. If the Eastern teams are that much better they are that much better. Not really a lot you can do about it.

Yes, as we filter through the rounds, and the number of active players diminish, there will be parity as we approach the Final.

Next year I can imagine there will be even less disparity in the regular season, if any at all.

UFA Signing: The Washington Capitals have re-signed pending UFA D Tobias Enstrom to a five-year contract extension.

Tobias Enstrom - 5-year deal worth $29.0 million dollars ($5.8 million per season).

*** This deal includes a full no-trade-clause throughout the entirety of the contract ***

so we can negotiate with our RFA's now right? Even if we signed our one UFA already for the 'before the trade deadline' time period?

It was one UFA and one RFA, so you can negotiate with one of your RFAs for the time being.

Lots of great young players being locked up, nice job guys!

For those that may have missed it or need a refresher :)

QUICK HITS

A few issues that need addressing.

1. Contract extension talks

Extension talks with players can begin now. Teams are limited to full negotiations with one pending UFA and one pending RFA per team. Beyond that, teams can conduct preliminary talks with 4 other players of their choice. Preliminary talks consist of one back and forth chat between the player and their agent. This is so teams can get an idea of the players willingness to re-sign with their club, and the potential dollar value and term the player might be looking for and what the team may initially be offering, so teams can assess their situation moving towards the trade deadline.

Contract extensions can be posted as they are agreed to. If a preliminary offer is agreed to, those can be posted as well, but they still count towards the 4 player preliminary talk limit.

Some players will choose to test the market. And not as many players will be re-signed immediately as there have been in the past.

2. League executive team

The members of the league executive team were put in place to help lighten my load and ensure my wife doesn't file for divorce. They are volunteers, contributing their time and effort to help make this game the best one on CDC. You will not always agree with them. Heck, we don't always agree with each other. But they are to be respected at all times. Abusive, disrespectful attitudes and harassment towards the agents or the league as a whole will NOT be tolerated, and from this point on will result in IMMEDIATE dismissal, no exceptions. If you disagree with a players refusal to waive a NTC, or didn't sign that player you wanted, please remain professional about it and move on to your next plan. It happens to all of us. But directing your frustration in an inappropriate manner towards the executives will not be tolerated. If you can't control yourself, perhaps this isn't the place for you. We're here to have fun, it's still just a game.

3. Player issues regarding ice time

There have been a number of these issues brought up to various teams around the league. While some have corrected these issues, or are taking strides to correct them in a timely manner, others continue to draw things out and/or make excuses and argue the with the players position. This post serves notice that if a player request, be it for more ice time, to be moved, etc. is not addressed within a reasonable timeframe, the player will hold out, taking up a roster spot but not collecting any points for your club until the situation is dealt with. Thankfully, no situation has come to that yet, but a few may be getting close. If that happens, it will be posted in the thread. Once things go public, don't expect to get the same value you would have before. It's in your best interest to keep on top of those situations. Everyone likes to complain about parity in this league, how there are some powerhouse teams and some that might have a tough time beating an OHL roster. We are trying to address this issue through greater enforcement of a rule that has been in place since day one, leaving it up to the GMs to improve and stay on top of managing their roster while still nudging things towards a more balanced league. If everyone cooperates, things will be much easier, and won't take away from the game at all, but add to it.

4. The draft

Our draft is currently scheduled for June 20th at 5pm Pacific time. While that date is not likely to change, we will push it back as late as the 22nd if we have to, if we can manage to hold it after the Stanley Cup final is complete. If not, we will leave it on the 20th. We won't know until the Stanley Cup final schedule is released. But plan for the 20th.

5. Free agent frenzy

Teams will be allowed to freely submit contract offers and negotiate with free agents beginning on June 25th. Negotiations can take place, but no players will be signed until after July 2nd. Go out and enjoy Canada Day on July 1st, or catch TSN's free agent frenzy show without worrying about missing out in our league. We will have all summer for free agents, no rush.

Just a quick question since I don't know too much about the ins and outs of pickup. Matt Frattin when I click on my team is in white writing with the other players on my team who are on IR or another team. I posted him on an updated depth chart after I acquired him, if he gets points tonight will they still be calculated by pickup?

Was a clerical error on my part, he was added and then removed by mistake the next day. Fixed now.
