And a perfect example of why this arm yourself against the world (aka the Castle Doctrine or the even more bizarre Stand your Ground laws) is much more likely to end in tragedy that have anything to do with preventing a crime.

As my cousin (a native Texan) who fought in Vietnam says - America has become the land of the not-so-free and land of the afraid.

Have you tried to buy a gun in the United States? It is not so easy. The paperwork and permitting process is burdensome, and sometimes finding ammunition is hard.

In Texas, gun shows are common.

Here are the rules for gun shows in the State of Texas

1.All guns must be unloaded, tied and the magazines removed.

THIS INCLUDES FIREARMS OF CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS.

2.All ammo must be in sealed containers.

3.No loaded magazines allowed in the show.

4.No cameras allowed in the show.

5.Carts, dollys and baby strollers used to carry trade items cannot be brought into the show except by dealers.

6.Police officers who are in uniform or who are displaying badges have free admission.

7.All Federal, State and Local laws must be obeyed.

A "Gun Show" as defined by Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 178.100. is...

"(
B)
A gun show or an event is a function sponsored by any national, State, or local organization, devoted to the collection, competitive use, or other sporting use of firearms, or an organization or association that sponsors functions devoted to the collection, competitive use, or other sporting use of firearms in the community."

Current Firearm Laws

FFL: An "FFL" is a Federal Firearms License. A valid FFL must be held by anyone selling, manufacturing, or importing guns, ammunition, and certain gun parts. The laws and fees for getting and holding an FFL are found in Title 18, Section 923 of the US Code. Firearm-related laws are listed in Title 18, Chapter 44, US Code and enforced by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

Note: The gun show rules above are those of the

Dallas Arms Collectors Association, Inc. Remember that at any gun show, state and local firearms laws will also apply.

I don't see any rules for non licensed dealers, how about rules in other states? Gun control in one state isn't very effective if neighbouring states don't get with the program, thats why gun control laws need to be federal rather than state by state, these are some of the loopholes gun control wishes to close along with the ridiculous military type weapons and mega round ammo clips, only to be opposed by paranoid "They want to take your guns away" types like yourself, are there any storage laws in the US? If there were a number of these shooting would be prevented (bet mom didn't have her guns locked up, good idea when you have a son with mental health issues) along with hundreds of accidental shootings and many of the illegal guns obtained by theft.

What is attacking your home that you need an assault rifle with a GRENADE LAUNCHER for? These are legal in Connecticut which theoretically has some of the strictest gun laws in the US as long as it doesn't also have a pistol grip, telescopic or folding sight, bayonet attachment or threaded barrel for a flash suppressor (two out of three ain't bad). Are criminals forming into regiments to attack your home so you need a gun that holds 1000 rounds and fires 100 rounds a minute? Do you need the 50 calibre rifle to take out the armoured cars and helicopters the crooks are using? Maybe you should petition for the right to RPG's and SAMs in case the "bad guys" start using tanks and air support.

here...

David Hemenway, a public health professor at Harvard University, looked at 2009 specifically and noted that the CDC figures show 18,735 firearm suicides; 11,493 firearms homicide; and some 554 unintentional firearm deaths. "The large majority of firearm suicides use their own (or the family gun), while the large majority of firearm homicides are shot with someone else’s gun," Hemenway said.
