Need another right handed shot. Garrison or Ballard should be traded for one. We have at least one lefty on the right side every night. That usually makes both d-men play bad.

. I'm with ya....... The problem is all our lefties struggle immensely on the right side. Should have addressed this in offseason like Chicago did bringing in Roszival and Brookbank. If I'm AV I play Barker and see if he can be useful on the right if not.... trade time.

Alberts looked better than our TOP 4 has looked most the year.
Ready to see Barker. Garrison could use a night off.

I'm starting to think that Garrison could use a buyout.

Why do all of our D (except Tanev) make over 4 million a year?

I always thought we should have gone for Rozsival in the off season instead of Garrison. We have enough two way defensemen as it is and Roszival would have fit the bottom pairing perfectly as a Mitchell type player and he actually knows how to play in his own end. Also would have been cheaper and a shorter term than Garrison. But of course, because he's from BC and had one good season, management signs him to a ridiculous contract that he most likely will never live up to. He's a 3 million dollar d-man at most. I'm amazed some teams were prepared to offer him 5+ million a season. Guess MG saved someone's job.

Edler has been pretty bad.. Im a huge Edler fan but hes been messing up
ALOT recently, constantly turning the puck over, or being out of position
i hate, hating on him but its true.. although hes our "best" dman i think he
needs to sit one game, let Barker come in and play a game.. AV will show
the team hes not going to allow that kind of stuff
D pairings could look like this
Hamhuis-Garrison
Ballard-Tanev
Alberts-Barker

Trade Bieksa? Not even if it was a one for one deal for a guy like Ovechkin. And I am being serious. Linden53

While I agree the Defence needs to be better the forwards have some blame for not controlling the game more. Sometimes the best defence is a good offence. If you want to make your D look bad play in your own end all game.

Put Tanev and Ballard back together...We should at least have a pairing that AV knows he can rely on instead of jumbling everyone up and ending up with 3 useless d-pairings...

Exactly. Why f--- up stuff that is working just to try to right another problem. Get the guys who are struggling to work it out on the practice ice. On the same note get Hansen back with Raymond and Schroeder.

Yes and it would probably put MG's jacket on a shoogly peg.

Actually I don't think Garrison has been the problem recently, more like Edler and Hamhuis have been way below their usual standard. I wouldn't put all the blame on Garrison. By the way Bieksa was also looking poor in his own end before his injury ...........but we missed him last night.

Jason Garrison calls Jason-Garrison only meeting

VANCOUVER—After a tumultuous and disappointing first half of their season, Jason Garrison reportedly called a Jason-Garrison-only meeting Sundayto air out the many issues still plaguing the Canucks. “There are 30 games to go and we’re still inconsistent, so everybody needs to step their game up right now,” Garrison reportedly said during the closed-door talks, which did not include coaches, upper management, or any of the other 18 players on the Canucks roster. “I’m sick of hearing excuses about shoulder/groin injuries or goaltender trade speculation. We should be contending for the title, but I feel like I’m the only one out there who even gives a damn. And frankly, that’s pathetic.” Reached for comment, Garrison told reporters the meeting was “very positive,” as it was unanimously agreed that the former 16 goal scorer should get more of the puck during games.

Too bad our d-core lacks an actual leader.

Maybe the leader is the guy without whom we gve up eight goals and looked awful in the process. Just saying.

I think you should make note of the fact that when Edler plays on the left side of the D he looks much more comfortable and is prone to way fewer mistakes. With Bieksa out, the problems on the right side of the D were really exposed last night. Maybe MG needs to get us a trade for a right-shooting D who can play, or at least a left-shooting D who can play the right side. Our guys, especially Edler, sem to have big problems turning with the guy going to the outside on the right, and cheat way too far to the inside. I really don't know what's with Hamhuis, is he injured? This is not the guy that played for us last year, not by miles.

Salo was a leader and he should have been re-signed.

Malhotra retiring was sad. But Salo was here for 9 years. And probably contributed more to player development than any of the coaches.

When your defence looks that pathetic for me that points to coaching, both Bowness and AV's overall mentality. You could teach a beachball to play better.

WIth $24M tied up in 6 D men and them playing like they are, either MG has really missed the boat on the talent level of these guys or Bowness/AV are failures.

Excuse!! Dallas came into the Nucks's barn on a back-to-back and at the end of a road trip and beat us. Detroit played on only 18 hours rest while our guys had almost 2 days off. Don't buy that fatigue caused last night's debacle.

Besides, our D was absolutely brutal in Chicago where they gave up 30 scoring chances!!!! The team was "fresh" for that game.

It's funny how when our goalies don't play lights out it shows just how bad we are.

Well said. Bowness should be let go at the end of the season if this D continues to struggle. If Canucks are bounced 1st Round again then AV should be canned as well.
