Navyblue
The Nuck will get penalties whether Torres is on the team or not. Might as well get something out of being penalized (a big hit)
riffraff
MG would look like a boss if he traded for Raffi when he could have and should have signed him and when Lu is a leaf and we don't get Kadri or Bozak!.....job well done!
eagleeyedak
*IF* we were going to obtain him, why not just pull the trigger yesterday/today while Torres was still in SJ and therefore easily available for tomorrow? Gillis was in the building last night. Stated price is a 4th Rounder...I mean, there isn't much wiggle room here; either pay it or don't. Why wait until Wednesday? Bruce Boudreau
Some of these trade rumors are over the top. The Canucks badly need another center and more scoring in general. Torres would be a fit in the 4th line because he can play a regular shift unlike Sestito in the playoffs. However that is not the Canucks most pressing need right now. Canucks need depth at forward and some depth on d before they focus on the 4th line.

Bruce Boudreau
I think Gillis can think about 3 things at once.. Upgrading the 4th line is better than not upgrading the 4th line.
Raph
You are all forgetting that we were over the cap that year (and had to do somersauts to get compliant, incl. using millions in LTIR space). So, by paying Torres just a few hundred thousand more - that basically means we would have had to lose another player somewhere...
Ilya Mikheyev
Really? I don't think the 4th line will matter much when they can't score goals on the power play or 5 on 5. Torres isn't the missing piece that will all of a sudden make this team like it was in 2011. This team has major needs that Gillis did not replace. One that looms largest being the production of Ehrhoff and the lack of a pure offensive d-man to quarter back the pp. Minor depth trades aren't going to cut it. The Sedins are a shadow of what they once were. This team has major problems that will only be fixed by making a blockbuster trade. Whether the Canucks have the means to make a major deal is up for debate. But this roster is built for now not the future.
KING ALBERTS
yeah hes going to solve the powerplay and our defence... and our scoring woes... better yet, maybe he can run somebody in game 1 to fire up the other team!
EmployeeoftheMonth
Why did we give him up the first time??? Also means ott is not coming to van

Tortorella's Rant
What a joke. That's just bad management if that's the case. Giving up assets for someone you originally had in the first place.

DeNiro
What would you rather have? A GM who loses out in negotiations and then decides he hates the player and crosses him off as a possibility? Sometimes things don't run perfectly and if GMMG decides to trade a 4th for Torres, I'm glad he's wise enough to not be too stubborn to fix mistakes. Kass9
Gillis is a dumb fack who should've signed him in the first place and given Torres what he wanted - 1+ year.

Ilya Mikheyev
Well, if you couldn't agree on terms in the first place you're only admitting now that you made a mistake, you are accepting those terms and giving up assets in the process. A double whammy. It just looks bad.
