Canuck or Die
There is absolutely zero chance we will play blues in the first round. 1. Blues already have 58 points. Even if they lose the last game, they will still be in 5th place in the overall standing. 2. Minny has only 53 points with two games remaining that makes them able to get only 57 points maximum. Suppose they win both games and one of the LA or SJ loses in regulation time, we will play minny in the first round. 3. More than likely we will play the loser of LA vs. SJ. Even if Minny wins 2 games to get 57 points, if the loser of LA vs. SJ manage to lose in OT and get a loser point that gets them 58 points which would be 1 point ahead of Minny then we will still play the Loser (LA likely but SJ hopefully). cmpunk
a lot of things could happen depending on the results. If STL loses in reg their last game and SJ beats LA in OT/Shootout then we would end up playing the Blues.
c117
Umm, if St. Louis loses in regulation in their final game, and LA picks up a point while San Jose wins the game, Blues fall to sixth because LA has more ROWs than the Blues.
Slegr
I'd like to see Canucks Vs. Kings - a chance to take out the defending champs early could be an emotional high to catapult the Canucks a long distance.
tera_ha
wow. this reminds of last year SJ - LA game decided last day who will play the canucks. Many canucks were hoping they don't get to play last year I wonder which team would canucks rather face this year? answer is simple > SJ. Canucks have been good against them in playoffs and should be able to wrap the series up pretty fast
Canuck or Die
No! Do your math. Blues has the least loser points of all three teams.
MashedBananas
Don't take the Sharks lightly, they beat us 3/3 times this year.

c117
I'm pretty sure the league counts ROWs first. Do your math.
spliced
SO wins aren't counted in ROW I believe.

spliced
That is why it's called Regulation and Overtime wins and not ROSW
Tangelos
San Jose is the best matchup. They suck in the playoffs and we destroyed them in 2011. I don't like our chances against LA because they're a team built for the playoffs.
Master Mind
For the Sharks, they're 2 options are the teams that beat them the last 2 years, in the same amount of games, oddly enough. Kings probably think they can beat anyone so I doubt they'll try to tank on purpose. Minny is the best choice by far, too bad it's the least likely. Sharks have been on a roll lately, they'll most likely beat the Kings, leaving us with a rematch from last year.
puckinaround
oops, i was wrong about only being able to play LA or SJ
puckinaround
Yes, we could play Minny if they win two and SJ loses in regulation. We could play Blues if SJ wins in OT cause LA gets a point and their ROWs are higher than Blues.
gizmo2337
We get lo play the loser either way. I don't mind playing losers lol. It will be SJS I bet.
hockeyfan90
Its funny many of u believe that the kings rather face us than the blues, yes they rather face us because the rivalry is much better but to think would be scared of the blues is ridiculous. They have a good record against the blues and they beat then last year in the playoffs. They're pretty much the same team as last year without Gagne so there's no doubt they can do it again if they get on fire again which it looks like they have with their previous few games. westvandude
LOL I started a thread yesterday about this same thing and it got locked for being "redundant"... guess it's not redundant then! /topic/343746-first-round-match-up/">http://forum.canucks.com/topic/343746-first-round-match-up/ But either way, I missed the fact that if Blues lose in regulation and SJ beats LA in OT/SO, then we'll still get the Blues (pun?!) The TSN Stretch Drive makes it pretty easy to see the different scenarios... http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?id=9731
