ShakyWalton
What next...this sounds pretty ominous to me......if not unbelievable.....an entire country? Don’t be alarmed or anything, but Russia has just unveiled a nuclear weapon that could wipe out Britain - TWICE. The new RS-28 - that has been dubbed the not-at-all-terrifying Satan 2 - is part of a deadly new arsenal at Vladimir Putin’s disposal. In fact, the weapon is so powerful that it could destroy Britain twice over. It comes packed with either 10 heavy nuclear warheads, or 16 smaller ones, and experts say it will be able to avoid the West’s radar defences. Terrifying: The weapon is capable of destroying an area the size of France (Rex) The weapon also has a range of around 6,200 miles - meaning it could reach Britain, as well as the East and West Coasts of the United States. The super-nuke is able to travel at speeds of up to four and a half miles a SECOND, and is set to be rolled out by 2018 after scientists in Miass carry out their tests. A statement alongside the first image revealed by Kremlin engineers said: “In accordance with the Decree of the Russian Government ‘On the State Defense Order for 2010 and the planning period 2012-2013’, the Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau was instructed to start design and development work on the Sarmat. President: Vladimir Putin’s Russia has the biggest stockpile of nuclear weapons (Rex) “In June 2011, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a state contract for the Sarmat’s development. “The prospective strategic missile system is being developed in order to create an assured and effective nuclear deterrent for Russia’s strategic forces.” Russia already has the biggest nuclear arsenal in the world so this is no biggie. Hopefully.
Gurn
So Russia, can now blow up the world 151 times on its own as compared to their previous 150 times? Waste of money for any of the big nuke countries to spend more money on them.- Once you can blow up the world a couple of times all by yourself, any additional nuke capacitiy is just money down the drain. Hopefully. Russia and the USSR before it are/were famous for overstating the power and capabilities of their conventional and nuclear arsenals. Our giant missile can sneak into your country, sleep with your wife and then pee in your toilet afterwards and not even be detected until it has already exploded!!! There's no way that a missile of the size that one would need to be has a radar cross-section so small that it couldn't be detected. logic
Hahahahah Russia constantly flexing their scrawny muscle... if it came down to it the US would wipe the floor with Russia even with help from China. i can't remember if it was their air craft carrier or battleship but one of them CONSTANTLY has tugboats following it because of how often it breaks down.. yeah real scary Russia, smart move bringing your entire navy to Syria where the US could take it out in one battle. The US would not so easily "wipe the floor" with Russia, let alone Russia and China. Mutually assured destruction makes any outright war between the US and Russia pointless. Both sides have enough ICBMs to blanket each other's nations many times over. No anti-missile missile shield that currently exists can change that fact. Russia also still has a formidable submarine naval force. Any battle fought on open water would cost the US dearly. Win or lose. Extreme hubris can lead to a nation's downfall. Well, since Russia does not have a battleship.... however, tugboats follow and assist most major ships in and out of harbours so that may not be a symptom of beak downs. He's talking about this: http://theweek.com/articles/657184/why-russias-only-aircraft-carrier-swaggered-through-english-channel Quote You can even watch the Russian flotilla by tracking the transponder signal from the Nikolay Chiker, a helpful little tug which travels with the malfunction-prone Admiral Kuznetsov in case she breaks down. On the morning of Oct. 22, the tug was steaming southwestward out of the English Channel.

Should have added- even the US doesn't have any active battleships, and why would they. Technology passed the battleship on Dec 7,1941 or earlier for those that studied the Tarronto(sp)raid in Italy. After those raid battleships became nothing more than ground fire support ships or massive anti aircraft gun, mobile emplacements.

I'm not quite sure what the United States military is trying to prove right now with their shows of defiance but it could have very frightening consequences. This hubris is part of the reason that a hatred and distrust of the US exists. As well, how some people have this archaic ideal that the US military complex is unstoppable, is beyond me. If the missiles start to fly, everyone will die, so this dumb "wiping the floor" mentality is redundant. Hopefully cooler heads, like your own, prevail, instead of some misplaced jingoistic imperialism.

My bad I used improper terminology. In an honest conventional war do you guys actually think Russia would be a problem for the Americans? Imo Putin wants to seem scary because he has to at a time where his country is in economic shambles.

Fair enough, I also believe America plays itself off to be a lot dumber than they actually are but who knows.. Trillions of dollars into the Military and constant decades of fighting must have got them somewhere, who knows the stuff that they have but don't show off to the world

Keeping international waterways open, and putting enough folk on the Russian border to deter further Russian take over. You see this as US sabrerattling, I see it as balancing Chinese and Russian aggression.
