Maybe if our BC government better supported mental health services / education and addiction counselling / treatment, there would be less people struggling. Thanks for pointing this out. Time for another drink and celebrate the great news everyone in BC got today.... Drink up and enjoy the incoming NDP hangover...

But Clark also dramatically increased British Columbia’s debt load — up an astonishing $10.85 billion in just the last four years — ironically after Clark ran on a “debt free BC” slogan in 2013. And since becoming premier in 2011, Clark added 30 per cent more debt to the province’s books than the BC NDP did in its entire 10 years in office. The overall debt picture during the BC Liberals’ 16-year reign is even more grim. They jacked total debt from $33.8 billion in 2001 to $66.7 billion in 2017, with their budget predicting it would rise to an enormous $77.7 billion by 2020. If you think that debt is gonna get any better under the ndp you are nuts

In every 1st world government in the world. Conservatives (right) will take power, de-regulate to bring in big business. Cut government funded programs and grow the economy. As the governed body begins to thrive, the weaker, lazy left minded people fall behind. People of the left don't have the internal drive to thrive. They need the government to provide programs and assistance to better their quality of life. They can't take advantage of something like a booming real estate market because that would take time away from feeling sorry for themselves. They cry about pipelines and cutting down trees as they don't own a single possession that could exist without one of those 2 things they cry about. As we all know, crying and complaining becomes contagious. Soon the people who can't keep up with a high octane unregulated conservative government, out number the ones who run with this bountiful golden era. Then an election comes around and a Left party like the NDP tells you how right you are and how they are going to take more money from the people who know what to do with money and give the people who are struggling because they are lazy. This government usually does stuff like raising corporate tax, driving out all the large and small businesses who thrived under deregulation. Which is ultimately offset by less people working. Soon the jobs dry up to a point where the government isn't getting enough income revenue to pay for their social programs. They keep borrowing and borrowing to increase infrastructure to stimulate the economy but it never works. No government in the world has ever been able to buy their way out of contraction. Now the people are broke, nobody has jobs. Their real-estate equity is in the negative if they somehow found a way to hold onto their house. But guess what? There is an election happening. The socialists get the boot, the conservatives start rebuilding and the cycle begins. For those who don't depend on BC for income start saving your money. During this NDP government, the value of property will decline. These left governments make great buying opportunities. Abandoned commercial property will be abundant. Edit****Anyone who gave gave me a rep is most likely a successful, financially stable, contributors to society. the rest of you, you know what you are. I, as well as many retired Military I know - voted NDP. I served so that even people like you can have freedom. I did not give you a rep. So do tell, what am I then? The notion that those who agree with you are successful, and others are "you know" is views of extremists that we can do without. I hope your young enough to outgrow your messed up views. There are many on this forum that are able to disagree, venomously at times, without resulting to this level. We get it - you support the right wing politically ( with AT&T I'm not sure if your roaming or living in the US ). Sell us on the good of that political side instead of making up stories about what will happen with anyone but your party is ruling - then we can have a debate on the issue vs extreme ideological views. Province is in the worst shape it has been in the last 20 years thanks to the BC Liberal Party. Record debt now. Very few highpaying jobs in BC. Few jobs that provide benefits. Oil/Gas , mining, fishing, and forestry are all hurting in BC. But heh, fast food jobs are at an all time high here in BC. Housing prices are so high that the most talented young people are now fleeing this province. I am happy to hear you have prospered under their leadership. You must be part of the 1 % that seems to have benefited from their policies. It is much better for society though to see ALL citizens prosper and thus create a better province for everyone. But, I prefer a government that looks long term so that all can prosper in the future. Short term prosperity is meaningless if you screw the future. My parents generation lived off the hog for decades and are dumping the consequences on this generation. It's about time we had forward thinking policies that, gasp, might cost money now.
