Random question. Is there some sort of rule against a team signing a goaltender that's just a dude so obese that he fills up the entire net?

Somebody that heavy would blow out their knees pretty quickly.
Look at Robin Lehner's injury history - he's the heaviest goaltender in the league.
Ben Bishop was tall and heavy, and also eventually succumbed to injury.
This is why Ian Clark is constantly chasing "length". Not necessarily size, mass, heft... just really long, flexible limbs.

@chon derry you're right but butterbean would still leave gaps in a hockey net. The degree of obesity needed to take up the whole net is obscene.
