Cole is not overpriced, he played at a top 4 level on a very good team. That says all it needs to. Soucy may be overpriced, but all he really needs to do is click with Hronek or Hughes. Just don't be Myers and Soucy/Hughes or Soucy/Hronek is a very solid top 4 pair. Also not sure how Irwin is overpriced, but I am assuming you're not talking about him. Irwin and Cole are 1 year deals. They aren't standing in anyone's way really. Most of our kids are 1 year away anyway. Hirose is probably the only one I really give a good chance at cracking this roster. But given he signed a 2 year deal, it looks like even he may not believe he's NHL ready this coming season. McWard I think needs one more year. Woo is a wild card. He had a really solid year last year. I think he can crack the roster. But otherwise like I said, not many kids are ready next season. So Cole and Irwin signings are far from bad for this franchise. Soucy isn't paid too much to put on the 3rd pair, but I don't see any of our LD kids taking a top 4 spot in the next 3 seasons anyway. So again, maybe overpaid, but not by much and not for very long. And it's not hard to slap a 3mil guy on the 3rd pair with heavy PK minutes. I am very hard on management, but those signings are not bad in the slightest. Soucy's contract is fine, Cole's is great, and Irwin's is great. It's league min. We can slap him in Abby or in the press box. It's whatever.

Lol. Completely down playing Willander. Sounds like the only thing to consider here is your insane bias towards Benson. Juolevi's injuries derailed his development. So no, he's not Willander's floor. I'd say 3rd pair D is his floor and McAvoy is his ceiling. McAvoy only needed two years of college as well. Both are 6'1, so similar frames. Willander puts on 15ish pounds he's around Charlie Mac's weight. Which is easy enough to do in the NCAA. He could become a better skating Charlie McAvoy. Which is crazy. So this idea he needs 3+ years at a minimum and Benson is NHL ready next season is, again, bias against Willander. He can probably play regularly in the NHL after next season if he so choose. He skates really well and is smart defensively. Easily transitionable skills. His weaknesses are on the offensive end and strength, on account of him being a kid still. He can easily bulk up in college cause of how their seasons work. And he can also get accustomed to the smaller surface there. Two years in college, then he'll be pretty close to ready if not already good to go. Benson probably has a similar time table. He's smaller so it's harder to transition to the NHL. Bigger, faster, stronger competition. I don't care if people preferred one guy over the other, but don't make sh*t up and downplay our guy cause you wanted the other guy. Benson and Willander are great prospects with potential to be major pieces for their teams. Willander's ceiling isn't "Hughes' partner." Sounds incredibly disrespectful. He has legit top 2 potential. And his floor is definitely NHL level too. Speed and sound defense will keep him in the NHL once he makes the show.

I am gonna be really annoyed if/when this kid starts putting up points for Buffalo. A team that drafted Owen Power and Dahlin so they're in a better position to insulate Benson. He wasn't gonna be a fit here. We drafted an undersized winger last year. We already have our Benson. In a sense. Lekkerimaki is a pure sniper and Benson is more of a playmaker, but you get what I mean. I honestly think if he was American or Swedish nobody would care. And honestly, yes I also was a little blinded by the fact he was a BC boy. I love having them. But at the end of the day, Willander is practically a BC boy too, said he was a Canucks fan growing up. And he fills a much more dire need. I wish Benson all the luck, cause I don't have any ill will towards our expansion draft brothers and honestly at this point with Benson, Krebs and Cozens, I am pretty sure Buffalo is my 2nd fav team. Both teams got the player that fits their direction/need. We don't need to watch his career and cry if he becomes special. I think Willander and Benson will be great.

And if Aho played in our more offensive systems with our more offensive minded players he'd be a borderline 100 point player himself. These ifs and buts can go on and on.

Took a noticeable step forward last season. If he continues that level of play this is a good contract. On a more Canuck related note, this puts to bed the idea Hronek is worth 8mil like some said. If we can lock him up at around 6-6.5mil per, I am pretty happy.

There is so much hype around Fantilli, you'd think the Ducks went off board and grabbed a Kotkaniemi at 2 and not a bonafide stud. I get Fantilli's hype, but I don't think very many casuals realize how good Carlsson is right now. Guess I shouldn't be surprised given the reaction to Reinbacher. I am just not a fan of definitive takes on 18 year old kids. Feels wildly disrespectful and more speaking from the heart than the head. Obviously Fantilli is the more known player for most casuals. Swedes tend to fly under the radar. Russians have to deal with their own thing. And obviously like I said, the Reinbacher thing. So these Euros and Russians don't get the hype NA players get. So when a Euro player goes ahead of a well known popular NA player, fans are like "BAD PICK, CHOKE. DUMB."

Tryamkin was mid the time he was here and was only here one season, and we still talk about him as if he was the best defender our franchise ever had. The allure of size is strong. If you're small you better produce and produce consistently.

On a 1 year, that's true. But on a 2 year deal I think 1.1mil is more than fair. He didn't "fail" to make this team, it just made more sense to give him ice time in the A rather than 8-10 minutes on the 4th line.

This management staff has done nothing to show they have any class. I like some of the moves they've made, but they're definitely easy to dislike as people. Cole is class though. I liked him as a player before, love him now. I wasn't against him using the number, but I am glad he made the switch.
