  1. Now show Shinkaruks draft rankings before we took him :D
  2. Dvorsky, Reinbacher and Willander were my hopefuls. Dvorsky going one pick before us hurt, but I am definitely very happy with Willander. I also didn't mind taking Benson though. He was pretty neck in neck with Willander for me. But part of that was him being a BC boy. Hard to separate head from heart. I love Willander. Put on some muscle, could be McAvoy-lite. Imagine having that next to Hughes? Benson alongside Petey sounds tantalizing too. Lol. I dunno. I can see why some might be sour, but I think we got a great player. I wish Benson the best, but Willander looks real good in that Canucks jersey.
  3. If we didn't already have Lekkerimaki, I would probably be more upset about not taking Benson. But with Lekkerimaki and the fact Willander can skate like the wind, has good size and is a good two player. I don't get why he's a problem. "Late riser though," so was Reinbacher and Seider. You take RHD when you can find them. 6'1, monster skater. Great pick for us.
  4. Potential Skinkaruk? Projected top 5 that drops to the 20s. I wanted Benson or Willander, but it's a bit worrying when the undersized scoring winger drops.
  5. Simashev looked stoked, probably cause he was drafted 20 picks ahead of where he was supposed to go.
  6. If y'all heard that sound, it was my heart breaking.
  7. Really boils down to whether or not his offensive game picks up. He has all the tools. But if he doesn't develop a scoring game he projects as more of a Zadorov type. Which isn't bad by any means, but not really top 12 in the draft either. He is one of the more interesting picks for sure. As is Michkov who would be a 1st overall candidate in any other draft, hell, maybe even this one. If not for the fact he is Russian and has that 3 year KHL contract.
  8. One last wishlist post. Dvorsky or Reinbacher would be the dream. Benson, Willander or Wood I'd be happy with. Anyone else I'll be a little underwhelmed by, but not particularly angry. Unless we pull a Boston and take a Senyshyn type reach with that 11th pick.
  9. Somebody made the joke before, but it's kind of genius. Wingers usually have less value than centers and D. So if we collect all the wingers. We dictate their value. Pure profits baby
  10. 3rd line LW? Give em the Mikheyev special. I bet he'd look good playing next to Petey. As if that's some kind of accomplishment. We can trade a 2nd rounder for his rights.
  11. That 3rd rounder giving the traveling Jagrs a run for their money. Rumor is future considerations is feeling the pressure.
  12. No, management and ownership hate that word. We are adding size and physicality to build around our skilled stars. He's also older now, so we are adding an "experienced vet." No tank here, so sir. Just us, competing. For the playoffs. Not at all tanking. I just wish we could trade a 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder for the honor of signing Tryamkin. Cause gross, imagine having draft picks? Yuck.
  13. I guess we should keep in mind that the 1st rounder sounds better than it is, it's a glorified 2nd round pick given it was Florida's pick. The 2nd rounder is good. But still, this is pretty much two 2nd rounders for Newhook. Not as bad as my initial response would dictate. It's an okay pick up for a guy they replaced for free in Johansen.
  14. Pretty great haul for Winnipeg. Kupari seems to be on his last legs though. 23, he needs to prove if that top 6 potential is real. Vilardi should be a great piece though. I've always liked him. Iafallo if he can stay healthy is a great piece to add to that middle 6 too. Winnipeg did very well here.
  15. That's like saying "I'd rather get hit by a car and stung by wasps instead of being lit on fire." Sure, but you don't really want to be in either situation.
  16. With OEL gone, I am officially on team Tryamkin. Sign me up boys. I do really want Celebrini.
  17. Could be, we'll see. Seems like a heavy price tag for a could be. An undersized one at that. A team that had a hole at 2C traded a "could be point a gamer" center and replaced him with a 30 year old coming off serious leg surgery. That should kind of be a worrying sign about his chances of actually being that point a game guy.
  18. Guy says a lot of things. He "expected" not to use buyouts. Used one the first chance he got. He "expects" to stay at 11, he may not.
  19. 36% career faceoff, has taken a hair under 300 faceoffs in 205 career games. Can he play center? Probably. Can he do it effectively? Probably not.
  20. Would rather have Bear than Dumba. Ideally we don't have either tbh, and find someone that can play good shutdown style defense with a physical edge. Burroughs is a depth guy. Nothin' crazy needs to happen there. We have McWard who can fill that void if needed. Woo as well either shows he belongs or doesn't. Juulsen is an AHLer. Not a huge need to rush out and re-sign him. Not surprising that these guys aren't high on the to-do list. They are all pretty easily replaceable. Or have already been replaced.
  21. The 1st overall magnet to Chicago. Great, now they're gonna get another BC boy while we sit in mediocrity chasing ghosts of "just get in, anything can happen."
