Dahlén-EP-Lind would look really good to start in Utica next year and tons of skill on that line would give everyone lots of confidence. Bring up each of them for a few games by Christmas when injuries pick up and see if any of them got it what it takes to stick with the team. Ship out excess smallish playmakers by trade deadline.

I’m hoping to see more goals of EP this year hopefully some garbage goals of him jamming it in 5on5. Looks unreal on the pp but is a work in progress 5v5 in my opinion.

Brady is a very unique player. There aren’t many that compare to him in the nhl. He has more offence than backes had in his prime, and he reminds me a lot of Getzlaf. If we don’t get Dahlin the other undersized PMD are more commonly found in the nhl and the draft. I think his unique combination gives is exactly what cup contending team needs in the top 6. With him, horvat, gadjovich, Virtanen, gaudette we would have a feisty intimidating yet skilled forward group to go up against. I also look at a team like Pittsburgh which one the cup twice with a decent defence Corp but a filthy forward group, all while missing letang, their PMD.

Sergachev is a good young defencemen but I feel his point totals have been inflated due to playing a lot of pp with stamkos and Kucherov. Olli would put up similar numbers in my opinion besides the goal scoring. McAvoy looks like a steal and is probably gonna be the best defencemen of that draft class. Hamhuis was great in his prime and was a huge factor in the cup run I wouldn’t mind a replacement with more physicality.

Rather have Brady Tkachuck he’s much better than his bro.

The only knock I have on gadjovich is his speed. I love the way this guy plays, physical, in front of the net. He knows his role and plays it well but definitely has to work on his speed to make it in the NHL! Solid pick JB

What allowed the Canucks to grab him at 5 was simply the crazy high value for top 4 dmen this draft. I also agree with you in that it was just a tournament which he didn't play well. Which shouldn't make or break his career.

I'm surprised this thread gets less attention than the gadjovich and palmu thread. I really like this pick and NHL.com has a nice article on our top 3 picks this draft using analytics to support these picks.

Honestly I would say we are one of the winners. Didn't settle for an average scorer in vilardi. Didn't draft Glass who's a solid young player that's been on everybody's radar because he's in the chl. If Peterson was in the chl and Canadian he would've been a top 3 pick. I really like this draft and this was exactly the guy I wanted going in.

Vilardi, Necas, Heiskanen, Makar in that order. I originally thought highly of Glass but Necas played excellent during the WJC and you can really tell he's got high hockey IQ. I hope we get another top 5 pick via a trade involving Tanev but that probably won't happen.

I like Morgan Frost as our 2nd round draft pick. Had a great combine is in really good shape. Also Norris had a great combine. Both those guys are very athletic and can put up numbers. I'd be fine with either honestly.

It looks like two good second lines to me. There's no Malkin, Crosby, Backstrom type player that is going to score 70+ points.

Honestly this game is very easy to play. I got Kuznetsov who lead the league in scoring twice in a row and won 2 cups. I think the tactics you run are also very important. Overall this Gm is better than NHL 17 though. I find it impossible to win in 17.

Isn't that the purpose of hiring Travis Green? To instill confidence in young players by giving them opportunities but also not rushing them into things they can't handle. I like how Travis handled Virtanen and Baerstchi and I think he will do the same to our prospects such as Boeser in the NHL. He also had 4 goals in 9 games without knowing the system and coming off a season at UND. He's ready and should be played.

I see a lot of people valuing Liljegren over Heiskanen. But looking at just the stats liljegren has had an awful year where has heiskanen has been very good. Heiskanen for D and Glass for C for our 5th pick. I hope we trade Tanev for a Torontos 17th and draft Thomas or Vesalainen.
