  1. Got it. Next time I make a nice dinner and get "meh" then I'm going to laugh. "Meh" isn't "so-so" or "it's ok". It's them trying to get my goat - I knew it!
  2. Careful what you say. If "meh" is average ... then mehbe he's right? For years I supported JB stuff with context. Mikheyev has a lot to prove to be nothing then just another overpaid player. We won't know about his picks for awhile, but go figure - full Swede so far. And on that note, at least he knows which side of the bread the butter's on in Vancouver. Swedish side. Feel he did what he could with what he had, but also did some of the same things JB did year to year last season for sure. It could be more "meh" then you think, assuming it's "average", we could even be hoping it's "more meh" because it doesn't make "sub-meh" by the end of this season. And I like your enthusiasm. But maybe we are actually the delusional ones. I don't know what "meh " means other than watching my young adult kids shrug their shoulders after asking "how was dinner?" and saying "meh , you've done better". Or how was school "meh". Seems like a pretty good description to me of the state of our franchise. Not many people felt the bubble was "meh" either. In other words it could be better.
  3. Well said. Hope Horvat can recover his scoring touch and have lots of success with the NYI. A lot of his goals since he went on a tear, were tip ins. Not sure whose shots he's going to tip in there, but he for sure found his niche. And sure he's got a career season ahead of him yet as well. Was hoping to keep him. In the end it worked out for us, in cap space, and them because they needed another guy too.
  4. Yes. I get the negative spin. Team needed "major" surgery. And he was the sacrifice. That said, we wouldn't be so bad if he signed to a reasonable deal either. Horvat went into last season as an individual more than a Captain. Look what Linden did. Without a contract went to camp anyways. Not the same as last season, Horvat seemed to lose more and more interest. Didn't back-check like he used too. Doing the motions with the media etc.
  5. What you're missing, is the cost to keep him. Is it ok to pay a second line center, which 8.5 x 8? And have no way to trade him... buyout candidate late in his career. That's the opportunity cost you're missing out on. And given it was his last season, no term left - what do you really think there was a better deal available? That's not a sub-par return. It was market return. Suppose we could have kept NYI first, Button said if we didn't trade that for Hronek, might as well traded EP and QHs, 100% agree with that. Something we could be doing anyways depending on this next season. Horvat at 8.5 x 8 yikes even Lou said it was way too much after he signed him. And he's right. Edit: The other stuff is meh. Aside from Soucy. Just patchwork. Don't blame him for OEL. He's got all the data. But not sure I like that either.
  6. If you are on a bike not wearing proper equipment, that's stupid. I've seen the results on dirt bikes (and had the pleasure of having whiped out a couple times too). Not pretty picking out stones from your shins. And as for road bikes, probably should be dead. More than once. Probably 12 times at least. So haven't got on one in 30 years. I will ride my bicycle though. My wife won't let me get a harley. Despite the fact I look like im a patch member. Ok did the math, 29 years.
  7. Potvin. Because he's making the best all-time team and ignoring the rules. Ha ha sorry Sweden!
  8. Gurn let's stop this. I'm sorry the example I used wasn't good on a personal level. No more merry-go rounds. No more teeter-totters. No more sand or grass instead a foot of rubber for the kids in the park and likely soon to be a 4 point harness system on the swings before they are banned completely. Is that better? Or how about this, baby seats, which are built to last a long time, can't be sold to others, or given to others must be thrown out after using in a lot of Canada. How's that for waste. Ethic's isn't morality. The laws or a country, province, municipal etc, are the rules. They do limit things and turn us into idiotic robots. Look at Germany in the 30's-45 and on for awhile. Does that make my point clearer? Want to be ethical. Don't ever use Amazon, or order a meal in a box to feed your family. Actually don't ever eat out unless you have too, fast food isn't an industry this planet needs at all. Make your own meals. Don't buy an electric car, at least not for awhile, Hudson Bay is about to be ripped to shreds to mine the cadmium for them, and if every house in BC had one, Hyrdo wouldn't have the power for it let alone the houses themselves . Buy a 2-3 cylinder diesel, less refinement required that gets 40-50MPG. And more then anything grow your our freaking food. Sure it's work, but even a patio trelis, 10 feet long six feet high can and should yield you 60-100lbs of beans. Can also grow tomatoes and herbs in your home instead of whatever you've got going. If you've got a yard, grow a garden and fruit trees, use a deep freezer and can your stuff. That's my high horse. And while doing this jay walk all you want (if no one is around, same with a red light at 2:00am just go on right through it), and use a bike to get somewhere if you're able to and it's close. If not your scooter (Alf). Edit: And if you ever buy bottled water, you're evil. In Canada that's never something you can't prepare for. Actually the most despicable, piece of human trash. We have floating plastic Islands in the Oceans right now, and if for a moment you think you're "Green " because you use a blue bin, you haven't a clue. It's not efficient, Canada sends containers to jungle paradise and turns them into trash islands - and India. We should be using wax paper for our meats. We have the tech already. Am I doing the "Heffy" right?
  9. And how many are dead just from driving? Here we go, the safety police have already arrived. God most people can't even get on a horse these days. Parks will eventually have four point harness's on swings. No more teeter-totters, merry go rounds. And some have a foot of rubber cushioning instead of grass or sand. Swings i'm sure will end up banned too eventually.
  10. Chelios single handedly ruined our 94 follow up. At the time he was the best defenseman on the planet, which said a lot about his peak prime years. Forgave him for that. Those CHI teams were good, and at the time he was their greatest player. That's my biggest Chelios memory. Guy was a total warrior, you'd have to be a little nuts to drop the mitts with a guy like Tony Twist.
  11. There is a difference in morality and ethics. Heffy comes across as a guy who'd get mad if he saw a jay walker, or if in the prairie saw a farmers truck not go to a full stop half a kilometre away with no traffic in site. We don't know the details. Not that this is a good thing. A lot of "rules" are made based on a few darwinian level things. Canadian Society as whole, is leaned a tad too far in regulating everyone and everything. Who doesn't go to a laxer country and feel better seeing a group of kids headed down the road in a the back of a pickup for a game of soccer, or ice cream. We used to be allowed to do that too. Heffy would tear them a new asshole for that too i'm sure. Or if someone didn't wear a helmet. Based on the hyperbolic ranting's over a missed call in hockey. One could think anyways.
  12. Today looks to be the day. It's been noted, that someone lying about their involvement based on the arithmetic. Either the victim or the players. That sheds doubt on players that were actually at the event, and even worse, the victim herself. Hope that the NHL is swift. It also makes sense the timing, given it's training camp time. That's not something teams want in their locker rooms. The NHL has known for months, the actual names that is. Training camp hasn't officially started anywhere yet. But is about to.
  13. Sens prospect pool isn't very good anymore. Just like us 4-5 years ago, all their best prospects, have made the team or fallen out of grace. Mid 20's now, slipping from the low 20's a year ago. Ours, well went from 30ish a year ago, to high teens low 20's. Willander, Raty, Lekkirmaki, Klim leading the charge back into some sort of relevance. The usual suspects have the worst pools (contenders, older cores going for it). OTT has positioned themselves well cap wise for the future. Will have quite a bit of flexibility to change their support players. As far as best young cores go... well OTT is probably top five. Time will tell, a couple years ago, we were also considered in that group. Edit: Dallas is probably the best of both worlds right now. Both a great team and an above average pool the last couple seasons. Reminds me a bit of TB when Yzerman was there. CAR is also close ... average pool, great team. NJ still has a great pool.. a team to watch. And Buffalo again has a top ranked pool, and look at who've they've already got on their team. Buffalo, and NJ seemed poised to keep taking big steps. SJ is just entering their seasons of pain. Going to take a minor miracle for them to pay for Wilson's re-tooling (at least it worked though), probably won't see a relevant team from them until the early 2030's.
  14. Eichel saying some things about the franchise that drafted him .. it wasn't pretty. A lot worse than Horvats post trade barb.
  15. Yes there is that possibility too. PLD is another guy who recently did this in Columbus. So maybe in a few years we trade EP for Bedard. Or EP is already gone and we trade QHs. We won't get him for draft picks and pocket change. Right now Hanifin is already saying he won't re-sign with CAL. Think that's the most likely of any scenario. Bedard probably expressed his love of his team more than any player I can think of prior to the draft. At least we will have an idea of what's up, with his second deal. If it's a Mathews type deal good odds we will see him in 2030-2031. Im sure CHI will do everything they can to lock him in for as long as they can too.
  16. In reply to Vedder's reply of "one good year". Reading the local news (if you live nearby and want to go to a game sometime, PM me...usually get to a few a year, already have my Canucks tickets, hope to take my bro but my wife might want to come even though Reynolds won't be sitting behind our regular seats this year lol - ..) the players are sure stoked about this. Chabot wont have to play close to 30 minutes a night anymore with Chychrun and Sanderson around (coming from their own players). You could be right, the players sure are happy he's locked in as part of their "core". Which he for sure is at that price. That's a lot of cap percentage to give a player, after one season. Seabrook didn't get that sort of dough until his third contract. 7 years in and one cup ring already. Sophomore slumps happen, even if he has one it won't be the end of the world...his best years are surely ahead of him too. Most of the series of games I watched this year was when Chychrun arrived, wanted to see how that would help them. Was a great addition. Could tell he had skills, plays a pretty smart game and his size is noticable. Sanderson was solid too. His skating was noticeable, could tell he has wheels and a good motor. Have been watching Chabot since the WJ's, (again, he looked like a man playing against boys). Im stoked he's finally got support. And have felt Dorion has done an exceptional job under some very tough circumstances. Cap wise they locked in a half dozen guys, most of whom will play together for 8-9 years. For the same price as TO's top four paid guys. They've only got Pinto left to figure out. OTT's window is just opening, TO's "Fantastic Four", well that window is probably shutting after this season, and moving over to a smaller one after. Sure would love to swap rosters with OTT right now. Edit: As an aside. OTT fans have been kicked in the stomach and the balls a few times since moving close by 14 years ago. The Matt Cooke foot stomp, severing EKs achilles tendon, cab-gate, Ceci flambé ing a guest party, Hoffman's girlfriend drama with EK's wife, going to the final with EK doing his best pronger EDM impression .. nope! OT ball buster. EK is one of a few guys considered for the Smythe, from a team that didn't make it to the final. They had a bright future! Stone was found money. Zib was progressing. Pageau was solid. Hoffman could score goals. Traded for Duchene. Owner drama "fans I will buy your liver" sweepstakes. His company failing, and eventually ousted by the board. Then Dorian blew it all up, before while he could still. Imagine if instead, they kept that core together... and worked on support players. They'd still have Chabot. Allvin might have to consider the exact same thing with us. OTT ive used an example, as what excellent drafting really looks like, for years. Dorion didn't get much for some guys. A second for Zib for example, but did acquire a boatload for the entire lot. Right now, OTT looks to be Canada's best bet for a cup the next decade if EDM or TO can't pull off a miracle the next year or two. Draisatl's next deal. Allvin might have to consider this path, if EP won't re-sign long term. Wouldn't be opposed to it either, just not convinced our scouting staff has it in them. Last big hit for the 3rd round or later for us was Edler, Nonis's first draft. Instead could see them trading EP and QHs (if we have to go there), for already drafted youth plus futures and cap dumps.
  17. How has he passed Chabot, who played almost 25 minutes a night last season? Chabot had a pretty awesome pedigree too, was a man amongst boys when I watched them live at the WJs. Still he had to put some time in before getting his deal. Don't get how one year can be parlayed into this sort of thing. Dahlin didn't get it. Neither did QHs. Or Heiskanen, or Makar. Or Dobson, Boqvist, Bouchard or McAvoy, or Chychrun or Sergachev. All "promising" young somewhat recent D's.
  18. Right now, the odds highly favour on them. RFA isn't UFA. OTT is trying way too hard right now to make sure guys don't leave it's sad.
  19. Well better add some beef. And hit the gym. Seabrooks game wasn't points.
  20. Thing is, Seabrook put his time in, like a normal hockey player. Was just b!tching about this on another thread and noticed this. And have been b!tching about it since Dubas did his master stroke of mathematical idiocy in his early TO days. What has this kid done, to deserve a 64 million dollar deal? It makes zero sense. Seabrook was a core CHI player. And could hit guys. Do a bit of everything. Did he get this sort of contract after one year ... I don't like this deal. It's bad for the league it's actually awful for the league. But at least the other GMs can just cross it off the list when dealing with their own RFAs, as pure idiocy. So many GMs will be pissed at this and rightly so. What did Dahlin "the next Lidstrom" or Makar, or Heiskanen or QHs do first? Is the cap going to 120 million. Dobson. Or Bouchard and Boqvist all the big names in that D heavy draft. This is probably the worst contract i've seen for a RFA in a long time. You can't give an RFA close to 10% of the cap unless they are one of the better players in the league for a year. Sure he could be the next Seabrook. And is going to have to be that at least now for OTT. At least Chabot had the pedigree and did it first. Warhippy, we needed a Seabrook, reminded me of Aucion. Is this kid really got that in him? I don't know. First has to put on 30lbs.
  21. I have zero sentimentality about brothers playing in the NHL together. If it makes sense for the team then sure. If it doesn't then it's not the right call. And for the record, both my brothers have been my besties at different times in my life. Pretty sure they'd say the same thing. So would the Hunter's. I know which brother to avoid in the corner, and which one to hold onto or trip. I do get it from a "spin". Not sure it would actually work though. Won't hold it against QHs if he leaves no matter where he goes. He's earning his own path right now.
  22. SENs are looking at Manitoba right now and reacting. Making "sure" they have a team in 8 years. Edit: Correction - making "sure" they have a roster.
