  1. I know Patrick's been dropping in value ever so slightly, apparently because of his work ethic and effort, but it would suck to pass on him and he redeems himself. Maybe he was still nursing an injury? Or maybe it was just fatigue? If I had the #1 pick I'd probably take Nolan Patrick. 6' 3", 200 lb C. I would also take Vilardi over Liljegren, only because the Canucks need scoring in their top 6. He makes his line mates better. He's also a big guy 6' 3" 200 lbs. Vilardi with Goldobin could be scary lol
  2. My Top 5 Hischier Vilardi Patrick Mittelstadt Rasmussen Nice to know we'll end up with one of them (probably), unless JB decides to draft a D again with the 1st. Hope not, it's kind of bitter sweet, seeing these other teams draft top 6 scorers already contributing, while our underweight 1st overall last year is playing in the OHL. I am excited with Boeser and Goldobin. Those guys are goal scorers. Baertschi - Horvat - Boeser Goldobin - Patrick - Eriksson Daniel - Henrik - Granlund Boucher - Sutter - Virtanen Dorsett Gaunce
  3. Kong 7.5/10 The visuals were great, the soundtrack was great (Black Sabbath, etc), slow motion camera work was very cool in 3D, explosions, zero love scenes, weird freaky monsters, greats battle scenes. (some grisly deaths), and John C. Reilly was good, a few laughs. Would've given it a 8 if it weren't for Sam Jackson. I found him particularly annoying in this one.
  4. Hadwin's got a 4-shot lead in round 3 (Valspar Championship). He looks great (esp putting)
  5. No words to describe his game? Wow, Goldy sure has a lot of confidence. Hope he can back it up. Really looking forward to seeing him play tonight @LA Keep your head up kid.
  6. Don't know anything about him, so will have to do a bit of looking. But, a 6'4" 212 lb C who scored 27 goals and over a point-a-game (so what if it's in the Q). Looks pretty good to me, even if he'll end up staying in Utica. Maybe a solid call up for the 4th line? Nice to know that other teams were interested. Maybe prospects are more willing to come to VAN, because they know they'll have a legit shot at making the team. I wonder if Caggiula is regretting his decision signing with the Oilers. Could've been a part of the new core with Stecher and Boeser. Instead he's in tough to crack the Oilers lineup.
  7. I would do a swap of Eriksson for Ladd, in a heartbeat. Heck, throw in Larson as well. Canucks need tougher players, playing in the west. Eriksson looks lost most games. He does get chances, but maybe clutching the stick a little too tightly. He knows he's snake bit, that probably just adds to his frustration. Ladd is a big BC boy, and this team needs big Canadians on the roster. He's had success paying in the west too, winning a Cup with Chicago. Also winning a Cup with Carolina. These are the kinds of players the Canucks should have mentoring the youth. Proven winners.
  8. Yeah, no point dwelling on the Canucks should've done at last years draft. It's done. Although, with JB finding gems with Tryamkin and Stecher, our D looks pretty good for the future and in hind site, taking Tkachuk may have been the better move IMO. The Canucks don't have a succession plan for the Sedins and Tkachuk would've been a big piece. Let's hope the Hockey Gods look down upon us in July and provide us with a Nolan Patrick or Nico Hischier.
  9. As of today, the Canucks are sitting in the 8th spot (draft position), and Eeli is slotted at 8th overall. I'm not sure of his ability yet, so I'll need to watch some video at least. He's got decent numbers, but it's also how they describe him as a player. Canucks will need a LW down the road, and one who can score. Maybe he's the guy? Tolvanen - Horvat - Boeser Eeli Tolvanen's Player Profile ISS Hockey - Oct. 11th: "BU commit who can score at every level. Potential top scorer in draft class. Pro shot." Jeff Marek of Sportsnet - October 4th: "Such an exciting player. Tolvanen has the ability to bring fans out of their seats. Was drafted by the OHL’s Oshawa Generals but is heading to Boston College." Bob McKenzie of TSN - Sept. 22nd: "The Finnish winger is a pure sniper -- with an NHL shot and NHL release -- who has the tools to be the best pure scorer in this draft. Tolvanen is starting his second season with Sioux City of the USHL and has committed to Boston College for next season. At a shade under six feet, he isn't big but he is strong enough to get to where he needs to in order to score goals." Craig Button of TSN - Sept. 22nd: "He has high-end offensive ability. He can score in multiple ways - off the one-timer, off the deke, off the rush and in the heavy areas around the net. He projects as an elite scoring winger." Kelly Friesen of Buzzing The Net - July 28th: "Tolvanen, who is committed to Boston College for the 2017-18 season, left Finland to join the USHL as a 16 year old this past season. He managed to muster 17 goals and 38 points in 49 games as a rookie." Central Scouting's Troy Dumville on NHL.com - June 25th: "Tolvanen is a solid skater in all directions, is creative and has good puck skills."
  10. Juolevi didn't look too good on that goal.
  11. Yeah, I realize he's not an offensive, flashy player. He does make good decisions with the puck, very composed. Maybe a nice stretch pass for a goal?
  12. London vs Kitchener, just tuned in. Missed the 1st. Be nice to see something special from Juolevi.
  13. Watching the London / Owen Sound game. Just tuned in, but saw a shift from Juolevi. Wow, he's smooth out there. Doesn't panic, doesn't rush, but always makes great passes or decisions with the puck. Smart. He jumps into the play but is always sound defensively. Really nice shot and a great skater.
  14. Yeah, how 'bout that Brock Boeser. 7 points in his first 3 games with UND. I think Horvat can still be a 1C. Put Boeser with him and they could be pretty dynamic.
  15. I have zero problem with someone using those seats if they need to. An old man with a cane shouldn't have to ask a 15 year old playing with his/her phone to give up their seat. That's the problem, lack of respect. I was in Singapore a few years ago and any time any adult got on the train, the young people would get up and offer their seat. I don't see that enough here. Also, young people going to school on the train, with a huge backpack on bumping into everyone. Take the damn backpack off. White people who use chopsticks. Yes, you're very impressive, but my fork has 4 prongs and you have two sticks. I like to think I'm more advanced.
  16. Young people who take the disabled seats on the Skytrain only because they want a comfy place to play with their phones. This annoyance is heightened when there is an elderly person standing there and the young person is oblivious to that. No respect. ...and drivers who don't use their turning signals.
  17. Premiere of Suicide Squad last night. 7.5/10 The movie is really quite good, a lot of action, a few laughs, good characters, good effects, decent story, some cameos, and I couldn't get enough of Harley Quinn.
  18. Daniel - Henrik - Eriksson Baertschi - GRANLUND - Sutter Etem - Horvat - Hansen Burrows - Gaunce - Dorsett Virtanen Rodin (just for fun)
  19. Everyone's saying "don't rush him", but Olli truly believes he's going to make the team and be in the lineup next year. He seems very determined. If he's great at camp and turns heads, why not? Or at least let him play in Utica (against men) and get some games in as a call up. The only thing I would be concerned about is his strength and weight at this time, but maybe he's on the Virtanen diet and is turning into a beast. Really looking forward to seeing Juolevi in a Canucks unie.
  20. Thinking with Eriksson on their line, the Sedins might be giddy with excitement, and play like they're 3-4 years younger than they are. Can't wait to watch the SEL in action, gonna be a lot of pretty goals. A few unofficial retired jerseys on the Canucks. They've had some bad luck: 11 - Maki 28 - Bourdon 37 - Rypien 38 - Demitra But I'd be okay with Eriksson wearing #11. Hopefully his family would be too.
  21. It would make little sense to play Lucic anywhere but with McDavid. I believe that's why Lucic signed in EDM, to protect and watch over him. I agree though, that Lucic's speed may be an issue for the fast McDavid. I hope Tryamkin nails Lucic the first game against EDM. Just lays him out and sends a message.
  22. I agree. Eriksson is going to be a very good player for us for the next 6 years. I'm sure the Sedins are stoked he's now their winger. He is 30, but he'll also play mentor to the young guys (Virtanen, another RW). Great that he can play in all situations and either wing. If he got 30 last year in BOS, he could get 35 next season playing with the SedIns. It's going to be fun to watch. Benning said he wanted to fix the D and add scoring. He did just that.
  23. Yeah, the TSN "panel" just basically pushed the Canucks aside when assessing what teams have done. They're really big on what EDM and CGY did. I hope the "Swedish Elite Line" (Sedins/Eriksson) proves a lot of people wrong next season. TSN would probably still be in denial about the Canucks being a pretty good team.
  24. Really happy with Eriksson signing here. He'll mesh perfectly with the Sedins. I also expect the Sedins' point totals to go up next year. Eriksson plays with a bit of grit, in that he's not afraid to go to the front of the net and the tough areas. He'll also help in shootouts and the PP. Still hoping Benning can sign Matt Martin.
  25. It might not be as exciting to draft a D 1st overall, as opposed to adding one of the top forwards, but it needs to be done in order to assemble a proper winning team. Drafting only one of the top forwards year after year and ignoring the D and goaltending doesn't get you anywhere (EDM). As it is for EDM, they'll have to trade Eberle, Hall, RNH and/or Yak to try and acquire some decent D. So much for getting those top forward picks. I hope they never learn. I'm glad Benning is doing this the right way.
