At this time I would like to thank Mike McKenna for his amazing career with the Vancouver Canucks. He carried our team to new heights and will go down in history as one of the greatest Canucks of all time. Thank you McKenna. #Ringofhonour

Im actually surprised that any goalie would willingly come to a team that doesn't have much of a D to help him out...

Anders, is that you?

Hit was fine. He picked him up and slammed him to the ice after. No pushback from anyone.
The 2pts are apparently worth more than the guy who got us the 2 pts.
I thought we were trying to make a safe working environment for these kids?! No pushback at all?!?! He should have been spitting teeth!!!!!!!!

Oh god I missed the hit as I’m at a family dinner and just saw a replay. Is he okay??? Did anyone jump the FLA player after ????

Alright this is my first time getting out my Crystal Ball here so here she goes...
My prediction is that it’s going to be another tough year (as to be expected at this point in the rebuild). We are going to have a tough time scoring, even though the young guns will show flashes of brilliance as they develop and give us hope for the future.
I predict Boeser will have a sophomore slump before rebounding near the end of the year. Under 20 goals this year and under 40 points (but hope I’m wrong).
The offensive star for us this season will be Pettersson. He will be in contention for the Calder this year, even though we will not be a high scoring team (overall). I’m predicting between 20-30 goals and roughly 80 points. He will be our reason for tuning in.
Horvat will continue to come into his own as a top 6 two-way forward and future Captain of this team. Roughly 60 points this season. The team will play with 3 Alternates this year, but Bo will be wearing the “C” by the start of next season.
The defence and goaltending is basically unchanged which means we will have quite a high goals against. I predict a lot of swearing at the television this season. Time to stock up on Whisky and Beer.
We will be out of contention by Christmas and fans will be calling for all Veterans and pending UFAs to be traded for picks or prospects in the name of Asset Management. Only 1 or 2 will be traded. Fans will be disappointed but the rebuild marches on as planned. Vets will shelter the youths, and the youths will earn their spots when they are ready.
Bottom line is we will be looking at another bottom 5 finish. Between 60-70 points. Still 2-3 years away from contending for a playoff spot. 5-6 away from Stanley Cup contention.
It will happen.
Trust Benning.
Trust the plan.
Go Canucks Go!

At 9:11, Ben Kuzma, your typical vancouver journalist...god that made me sick
Wow. What a mature and confident kid. Handled the media very well.
And yeah, that question from Kuzma was brutal. So unprofessional.

Transitioning Hughes to the NHL on a third pair with big power-play minutes could help his development and it would also make the Canucks better all at the same time.
It would certainly help improve the team more than Jay Beagle could. And there’s this: it would sell.
Having Hughes and Elias Pettersson in the same lineup at the same time is something that’s just too delicious for management to pass on without doing everything possible to try to make it happen.
end quote...
If Quinn can stay healthy...he makes the lineup...!
Only Botchford would compare the impact Hughes would have on the lineup with Beagle...
Could there be a more Apples to Oranges comparison?

Michael Del Zotto is one hit away from 200 for the season. He has the 3rd most hits of any NHL defensemen.
The only D-men who have more are Robert Hagg from PHI (232) & Nikita Zadorov from COL (206).

To be fair to the posters being quoted above even the pros that rank the prospects would probably re-think things if they knew what he was going to do this year in the SEL.
Look at where Elias was ranked by multiple sources..most of these guys had Vilardi and or Glass ahead of him..:

Just goes to show that maybe we should trust Benning a bit more. This is his bread and butter.

I love the Skate logo Jerseys from 94, and I think they look sharp as hell, especially the Black.
However, our Blue and Green colour scheme represents Vancouver better in my opinion. Sea to Sky.
There's also something to be said for sticking with colours so that the arena and its fans are all Blue for example.
Having the Black Alternate, although cool, just doesn't fit that in my opinion.
I really liked the 40th Anniversary Stick in Rink Jerseys with the V's on the arms inside the stripes. One of my favourites actually. I think that would be a great 3rd jersey.

Wow. That was tough to read.
Reminded me of when I blew up my wrist in juniors and that was it. (Don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t even a 1/4 of the player Dorsett is.)
Respect to Dorsett. You were a great warrior and I have a tonne of respect for your play and work ethic. All the best to you and your family...
I’m not crying... you’re crying...

Hopefully this is just for precautionary reasons and he makes a quick recovery. He has been fantastic this year and I would hate for us to lose him or for him to suffer a setback that would threaten his career.
-
I don’t want him to be traded either as I believe he is exactly the type of defenceman we need, BUT if he is not going to re-sign we cannot lose him for nothing. My hope is that we can sign him to an extension Jan.1st.

You missed my main point which is the fact that he didn't have to do it in public. You said it in your later posts too that society is too sensitive these days. Knowing our local media, I'm appalled this hasn't been blown out of proportion, are you?
I'm sure it was some old fashioned ribbing too, as I have also experienced it during my days playing hockey. I just found it unprofessional especially considering Sutter is a vet who plays a completely different role from a 21 year old who is completely new to the team. I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to get at right?
I do, I was merely replying with my opinion as well.

Goldobin should walk over to Sutter and smack him upside the head. Comments like Sutter's, challenging a guy's manhood, needs to be responded too. Maybe Sutter is trying to get Goldobin to get angry?
My money is on Sutter in that conflict.
In all seriousness though, guys rib each other like that all the time. The difference is usually it's not out on blast to the media.
Maybe Goldobin will use it as motivation to prove Sutter wrong. Maybe that's what Sutter is going for making these comments publicly. I don't know. But in my opinion it seems to be getting blown out of proportion by the fans/media.
Society is so sensitive these days.

7 hours ago, suitup said:Kind of a jerk move to do that on public radio. Then to say that he's got no grit or balls? Kind of unnecessary from a vet to a 21 year old.
To be fair. He didn't say he had none. He was just saying that's what it takes. That said. This is how guys in a locker room environment talk (at least in the Hockey I have played), so I don't really see this as a diss on Goldobin as much as friendly ribbing/motivation. Where it went wrong though is saying it to the media. Unprofessional, yes. But I think people are overreacting a bit as well. This is just locker room talk that should have stayed in the locker room. Simple as that (IMO).
