What a gawd awful article. Horribly written and completely out to lunch on their knowledge of non-Canuck hockey players.
They could definitely use a sub-editor...

Has a history of putting up points, yah, but there's always been that nasty stat they keep known as plus / minus.

Play lots of minutes on a crappy team and you'll be a minus. It's only of any use as a stat if it's comparing to teammates, even then it's not great.
Phil at $8m would be terrrible but $1.5m is a bargain, which is a shame. If he's a minus this year it'll be because they haven't got a goalie.

Also his 4th Organization not 5th. Once JT Miller gets traded (it will happen) He will also be on in his 4th Organization as well. Just a few years difference in age.Age: 26
Estimated Career Earnings: $10,141,673
Guess you're right, impossible to earn a living because of those pesky liberals ruining the world.

Miller and a 4th to Arizona in 2028 or 2029
Sounds good, but what's the return? I'm hoping for Future Considerations, I reckon he'll be a late bloomer if he can finally settle somewhere.

I checked today our record against the non playoff teams and we just gave up too many points to teams worse than us.
Benning and Green really ruined what was playoff team once those points would be added to the total.
Seems weird to blame Benning for ruining the team given that everyone but Dermott is ultimately his signing. Very unlikely they'll make the playoffs this year but there should be big changes in the off-season to look forward to. Feels like you're hung up on the past and you probably need to put these thoughts to one side and move on with your life. I'm sure there's a three word phrase that would more succinctly make this point, but I can't think what it is.

Perhaps, with his concussion issues - the LTIR is the hedge; and Aquaman gets to show the fans, he is spending to the cap, whilst, cheaping out on the staff (?).
I still don't see how it works. Assuming Ferland's contract was insured then him being on LTIR would save actual cash, but then using the cap relief to sign another player would negate that, no? Ferland obviously wanted to play, having him on the books hamstrung the team as they needed to be able to accommodate his cap hit if he became able to. Now it's clear he's not coming back that's no longer an issue, but Canucks would still be better off without his contract. Even if you manage a marginal benefit in one season, doing it for 4 years in a row seems unlikely.
Ferland was signed to play, it didn't work out and LTIR has offset some (but not all) of the disadvantage.

Well Ferland was a strange signing so maybe he did? Risky anyways. At the end of the day this is now a big deal. Kucherov's mockery of it and the merchandise sales as a result might be the tipping point. The playoffs could end up with a cap as a result as well. Teams wised up to the "loophole" and loaded up this year ... Vegas lol....they sure tried their hardest anyways. And might not even make it as a result. But if they do and Stone et all comes back - would anyone be that surprised to see them in the final four or even a cup winner? I wouldn't.
Eh? As far as I understand it there's no benefit to LTIR, are you saying they signed Ferland hoping he'd be injured? Maybe I'm missing something but I can't see how that makes sense.

I just wanna show some appreciation for @mll and their boundless patience.
I won't pretend to fully understand the cap, but I would have got myself banned long ago replying posts on threads like this. If people could just do some minimal googling before posting their hot takes it would save me some reading time.

3 Wins (6 points out of a potential 28 points) in 14 games Played. Woo-Hoo! Sign him up for 8 Yrs X $6M, Possible Vezina Candidate ????
5 hours ago, RU SERIOUS said:I did. He actually looked like a bonafied NHL Goalie tonight. 1st time this year and about time. Too bad he didn't play like this in his other 13 games - 11 of which were losses otherwise we'd be in a playoff spot right now. Too Little Too late. He's still a bum IMO.
5 hours ago, RU SERIOUS said:It's too late Frankie. YOU should have never allowed Uncle Jim & green to be resigned last year and all them to devastate the team for yet another year. This years failure is directly on you (indirectly on Ha-Lack's inability to win at least half his games like a regular/average goalie, which would have left us in 2nd place in our division today!)
You can't really count the games where he came in for a pulled goalie. Halak has a 3-6-2 record, so 8 out of 22 points. He hasn't been great, but even if he had 5-4-2 Nucks would be a be in 4th instead of 5th. Obviously you've got a narrative to push and a 'hilarious' way to spell his name.

I voted for trade him, but tbh his value is probably too low to make it worthwhile this year so I guess we just hope he bounces back after accepting a short deal/arbitration

I don't believe they can re-sign him until he's actually in his contract year and we're past the trade deadline for this year, so I am going to go with... neither.
Huh? https://www.capfriendly.com/players/brock-boeser
Isn't it JT & Bo who we can't resign yet?

I don't understand why people hate this trade so much. Obviously you want more than a 4th for Motte, but clearly no one offered that.

At that size I'd put in a bigger dman than Hunt. Pool or Bowey to try to help keep him in check.
No doubt Poolman would be in if he was fully fit. I suspect Hunt and Ovie won't be on the ice together all that much anyway, just got hope Myers is on his game.

Chiasson and Hunt, you are the weak links. Bowey, not so sure yet. Everyone else, please carry on.
Bowey is 9 or 10 on our D depth and paid league minimum, I think he's alright.

J.T. Miller -- Low Probability of a 7 or 8 Year Deal
in Canucks Talk
Posted
I was slightly concerned about the tail end of the contract, but if you're guaranteeing he won't be performing by then that makes me feel much better.
Besides the final two seasons of Miller's contract are 2028-2030 so probably too soon to worry about what he'll do in 2031.
