  1. TDL done. Any cap wrangling will be done in the offseason. Nothing like leaving it until the last minute to do a lot of contact work. Hope he somehow wins at this.
  2. Ahh dang I had my brightness down so far to get through the TDL on my battery. Yup, retracted. No Guddy to see here.
  3. I don’t know, but AG was a decent player who seemed like he had more to give. In a season where he was playing without body weight and had wasted away to nothing, he still put in a respectable season here, though not without some negatives. I think many of us fans will wish him well and remember him as we reflect on this Benning era, down the road. Also, I bet many of us will follow him on his new team where he’ll have a chance to be part of a great, emerging team looking to build. He’ll be in a fantastic setting to carve out a career for himself and should get the points needed to land a decent contact for his family. AG is the big winner here, possibly the biggest winner of the day. I hope this off-season he can get his body back and become the player he’d set out to be. Too bad it didn’t happen here. Also too bad that CHI is trending in the Ottawa direction too.
  4. That soy’d-up betta is the all-time Cuckface champ. Makes me uncomfortable to see him.
  5. Certainly can’t afford any opposing political opinions out there, not for large corporations. Doesn’t matter what they are. Wouldn’t surprise me if AG was canceled. #puckcancer ... errr cancelculture whatever is trending
  6. I’m hoping it’s a wait-and-see surprise similar to a Jack in the box thing. That is me being optimistic. My inner realist is polishing up the pitchfork.
  7. I used to do the same, but since Draft God JB took over, it’s been largely an uneventful affair. He’s not much of a mover. He’s more of a signer. TDL was pretty much my Xmas, and Zi used to enjoy it even more than July 1. JB changed that for me, with the Canucks at least.
  8. As if Benn is something to rush away for a marginal return... 9-8? I think he has more points than Sutter, even though Sutter had a hatty one night. Foundational...
  9. Should be an interesting fallout from this trade. The logistics will be clear as this goes on, and details such as which you’re alluding to will be defined. @mll is usually the one to sort out the business side of these transactions on here. Look for his posts, I think.
  10. The guy said posters are referring to Highmore as a dumpster fire, and that’s “calm and thoughtful contemplation”? Does anyone reading here actually think the new kid is a dumpster fire? This isn't what I’ve deduced from the pages, besides a few outliers. Pretty sure 99% of posters, because I’ve seen it for 23 years-running on here, have even heard of this player we just traded for, let alone follow the game enough to know which players exist elsewhere... Its not at all a horrendous trade, but I do think that it’s not an area we needed to bolster by weakening the exact area we are currently weak in. I don’t like the trade, but it’s not bad. If the Canucks are going to be sellers, which this has some optics of, then JB better get busy!
  11. That’s a great read, but the reality is that energy guys and role players like this are PTO types and are largely a dime a dozen to acquire. IMO, to trade a proven young NHL talent for this commodity lends its self to adding fuel to the fire raging on JB’s effectiveness as GM. For the sake of the fans, I hope that other info begins to surface which will address the logistics of this trade. I’m not at all convinced that we need another Motte more than we do a decent middle 6 guy who was ready for more responsibility. Motte is great, but easily enough to outright buy during the off-season, etc. Why trade for it?
  12. The Draft God lol sure, whatever. Add Tree to the list and he’s not looking so hot on drafting decent Canucks outside of his lottery picks, save BPA, BB.
  13. Lol Sure, possibly JB has his hidden reasons which may soon come out for this classic JB puckup moment, but meanwhile, the herd is slowly arriving to begrudgingly agree with what was once an unpopular opinion on here; JB is not a good GM for the Canucks. Aquaman, cut your losses; we’ll respect you more if you do.
  14. Most expensive rebuild in NHL history? Regardless, if you choose to believe that JB intended to buy lottery tickets with Aquaman’s lunch money, as in build a core out of top picks, while spending to the cap, then you might want to ask yourselves if anything he did was intentional, regarding the rebuild. It’s how he managed (executed) this team to those finishes, which should be included in assessing his tenure and those consequential/unintended results, and their silver linings that afforded this core, not that he picked it in the top 7, say. He’s not really being judged on his “intended” results, but rather their silver linings, such as EP. Even today, he might have mismanaged the roster, yet still have fate bail him out with COVID and IR interventions, which should stave off judgment on his actual results, instead of the unintended, silver linings. Is he lucky? I like lucky.
  15. I took a break from the forum and site and came back — to see *this as being the new gold standard for what CDC has become. Come on, CDC, be better. This is as bad as I’ve seen in 23 years of posting here. Take a bow, especially the OP — winner of the Worst Thread Narrative Award, ever. An I-told-you-so post, fashioned into its own thread, which instantly became wall of shame material for CDC. Mic drop moments by Sid, as usual. Nice to see the bait not taken, taken seriously at least. Good job, gents. @Silky mitts and @kanucks25 responding to Ricky, the OP: @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME Thanks for the epic post, context and read. You and @mll keep the place honest.
  16. Lol The herd has caught up... looks good on you. No Silver lining awards for the GM anymore??? You don’t say... Years of unintentionally picking where EP’s come from, with cap teams, were acceptable for a while, but now it’s all about results. Benning is a lame duck GM.
