  1. If they shutdown Demko and run the tandem we have tanking will be no problem. The PK will not improve because we still have the same players and every team in the league pretty much plays the same system, it’s not a science.

When we start trading off piece’s we will only get worse and I’m sure everyone involved with the team knows this. Management thinks we have a country club atmosphere with no structure so they are looking to change the dynamic around the team, a more professional approach.

Their goal is to change the culture and create better Hockey players, their development team now has the Sedins, Komiserek, Samuelson, Gonchar, Foote, Tocchet.

They obviously have a vision to surround the players with ex smart players who have had success and can help develop the next core and current younger players into their best competitive self. I personally see the vision, it’s clearly in player development under the new coaching staff.

  2. I see fans getting mad at the new coaching staff and want to see them fail, they had absolutely nothing to do with it. What’s done is done, wrong decision or not, like passing on Tkachuk or Kopitar when they were the obvious picks right on our lap.

Media picked everything apart and Aquillini once again interfered with the Hockey decisions, management wanted their guy and Francisco wanted his, a man was dragged along because of this in public humiliation.

One thing ownership learned through this process is that the fan base does not have their back, they chose the coach who went 18-25-4 and the team was getting worse and worse by the game.

As a fan I’m going to chalk this up as another low point but im proud of the fan base for standing up and letting ownership know that this is not ok. I really hope people close their wallets for the rest of the year and don’t support the Vancouver Canucks brand.

  3. One thing that is being overlooked is we are going to be building a system that arguably revolves around our MVP the last 2 seasons prior. Demko and the other Goalies should benefit greatly with some more defensive structure around them and taking away some grade A chances in high danger areas.

If Miller isn’t allowed to throw pizzas up the middle we should be able to eliminate odd man rushes and breakaways, dummying down the offence to pucks off the glass and out in the defensive zone might actually help the Defence we have assembled here.

Boeser, Garland, OEL, Myers, Demko, Miller all pretty much get a fresh slate to the years they are having and maybe they increase their value in order to be moved in the offseason (some not all) or even trade deadline this year. Miller at a point a game and a + player has value over one that is -20 and a point a game. The draft is extremely important but it doesn’t look like we will be bottom 3 or a shot at Bedard regardless of how we do the rest of the year, I’d argue the single most important thing next to finishing DL is increasing the value of the players so we can reshape the roster. If Boeser gets confidence and goes on a heater with 10 goals in 10 games or Myers goes +10 from now until the TDL you can maybe move them.

The way Bruce was handled was not right and reports are coming out that he wouldn’t step aside as an interim or management wanted a change and FA was again interfering by not authorizing it made everyone look stupid. I feel like they are not happy with the promise ownership made to not be involved, sounds like they were again.

Where do they ever answer to fans? Season ticket holder meetings? Those folks who put out 20 g's a year? Nope they ignored them.

The idea is to get an answer and be able to ask the tough questions without worrying about losing a job.

They would have their lawyers present etc. They lose their jobs they still get paid the next 3-5 years because they signed contracts. How many times do you see the important questions just get deflected and not answered, this would be no difference.

  5. JR is the creepy old guy with Worthers Original candies in his pockets trying to convince other GM’s his trash is treasure. “Back in my day we won 3 cups total in the span of a 55 year career, we used systems”

Guy reminds me of Abe Simpson trying to escape the old retirement home with his knit whit grandson Patrik Allvin.

That's basically making the first mate of the Titanic the Captain, after the ship has struck the iceberg.

He certainly won’t have any help once Horvat, Schenn and Kuzmenko get dealt if they aren’t signed a week before the TDL. Reports are they aren’t rushing Demko back and I could see them shutting him down for the season to be ready for the start of next year. Bringing in anyone this year is only going to create less optimism and more criticism during the off-season.

  7. The sad part of reality is the new management is taking no accountability and blaming a Coach that played .678 Hockey with the same roster and system last year. They have somehow made the situation worse by doubling down on players that needed to move in order to do a retool on a roster that wasn’t constructed right in the first place.

Funny how after one year on the job it feels like we just had Bennings 9th season as GM and we at least had some hope he would get fired and replaced by competent people. JR and PA are clearly way over their heads here, Aquillini will be paying for this mistake big time.

Accountability is the key word here.

  8. Petey and Brock’s one timers are pretty much gone after their recent wrist issues, Petey not having a PP goal this year is proof of that. The only positive I can see of Tochett coming here is that OEL and him do not get along, at all. If OEL waived his NTC I’d call it a win regardless of how things go here.

Miller and Tochett are about to butt heads as well I can tell already. Fun times!

  9. Other than Trouba who was just named Captain of the team the Rangers don’t really have “bad money” in order to capitalize on a trade for Lafrenier. Podkolzin and Hoglander for Lafrenier is about as heavy as we can go unless they covet Horvat, Miller is too rich at this point with the term left.

Id pull the trigger with Podz and Hog going the other way. Replace them with a Horvat return and it doesn’t seem that bad.

  10. Long story short both Miller and Horvat contracts are going to end up being bad in the end. Just be happy that they both have tradable contracts and both were coming off career seasons. Do the right thing and get assets for Horvat while you can and use the move as a retool towards the Defence. Once Myers and Boeser get moved make sure you don’t take back money on a expiring contract so you should roughly have $20 million to invest in Kuzmenko and the defence.

We need to draft a Center or Dman the next few drafts.
