Well he has to start better. He can't just show up at the end of the season.
Lol what??? Rumor is he never recovered from the first injury and was playing injured at the start of the season. He didnt just show up, he showed up healthy - that is the difference you fail to consider but then again youve failed to consider quite a bit and continue to spew the same rhetoric day after day and game after game. You aint in school being punished writing lines, get with the f**k**g program

As much as I might be disappointed in the draft position as a fan I will adjust. I certainly hope my tanker strategy is done. Next year should be the beginning of some serious prospect development. I have been impressed with Allvin and if he did not tank then I have to assume he has deals in the works which will yield prospects and maybe even some picks. Replacing the 2nd rdr would be nice.
I heard yesterday on 650 that groundwork for a possible transaction has already been laid down with a team for the summer. Id like to assume that management has a few things ready to go for the offseason that are "already done handshake deals".

Picking three spots higher isn’t though!
That’s like saying you’d rather have Mittelstadt over Pettersson or Bouchard over Hughes. That’s the difference three spots can make.
Nolan Patrick (2OA)
Elias Pettersson (5OA)
This is also the difference 3 spots can make. I agree that picking 8 gives us a greater pool of players to choose from that tier but maybe our guy is still available at 9-11 that we would have picked at 5-8. What if the our board is Bedard, Michkov, Fantili, Carlsson, and at the 5th could be Reinbacher, ASP or Moore. Either of those three could still be had. We just have to wait and see how the draft lottery and the draft itself plays out.
Petey from what I remember was ranked 8-11 on most draft boards and was going to be a reach at 7 which the Canucks I believe tried to trade down to until they caught wind that there was another team that would take him ahead of them had they done that.

Basically, hope we lose our next game and hope Washington and Detroit win their next game. We will go back down to 8th.
Hopefully Arizona brings it next game. They’re supposed to be a decent home team lol.
Is this all to increase our chances at Bedard? Because the players at 8 or 10 or even 11 are in the same tier. Doesnt really matter other than the fact we may only have 3 players left to choose from that tier instead of 5. Im going dman in either case Reinbacher/ASP.

Big deal. He needs to start the season the way he finishes. Tired of two different versions of him.
the injured version and healthy version?

Next year will be a development and tinkering year. We will hopefully make the playoffs but dont see us really contending until the following season. This is my simple and hopeful plan
1. Trade Myers, Garland and Beauvillier (2023)
2. Buyout OEL in 2024 offseason or if he has a good showing next year and becomes, dare I say...tradeable (2024)
3. Sign Gavrikov or Graves - Prefer Graves as he would come cheaper, bigger body and has shown more offense than Gavrikov, at least this year. (2023)
4. Draft Reinbacher/ASP and hope hes a top 3/4 defenseman by D+2 (2023). If Reinbacher goes early, trade down for an additional 2nd and draft ASP
5. Throw Hirose in a hyperbaric chamber with some weights, 80 lbs of chicken breast and kegs of peanut butter, throw away the key = super saiyan (2023)
6. If Kravtsov doesnt show anything next year - look at Karlsson or Bains to see if they can take over or sign a UFA to plug up the 4th winger spot - I really hope he does though (2024)
7. Joshua & Aman will be even better next year. Book it!
8. Raty keeps developing into a stud 3C that kills penalties, block shots, throws hits, defensively responsible whilst becoming a 20/20 guy
8. Kind of want to sign Chris Tanev and have him play 3rd pair with Hirose (learning/teaching element) - 2 yr 3m/per contract. (2024) - super saiyan 2
Our Contender Squad 2024-2025
Kuz Petey Boeser/Mikaheyev (Scoring)
Hoglander Miller Mikhayev/Boeser (Scoring)
Podkolzin Raty Joshua/Kravtsov (Energy)
PDG Aman Kravtsov/Joshua (Checking)
Hughes Hronek (f**k your sh*t pair)
Graves Reinbacher/ASP (shutdown pair)
Hirose Tanev (No goals for you pair)
Burroughs/Brisebois/Wolanin
Demko
Silovs

Well it’s called reality. Welcome to it. If you want to jump up and down for celebrating wins against teams like Chicago that’s your choice but I like to look at the whole picture. You have to look at the competition we are facing. Just the truth. Sorry.
Lmao you havent played sports in “reality” have you? A win is win doesnt mattet who youre playing.

I think everyone has to calm down about Hirose. It’s only the Chicago Blackhawks not the Tampa Bay lightning. He looks good but come on, against this competition and we are only up 2-0. I don’t think we can get too excited yet.
I think you need to be more excited. Youve been complaining for weeks now. The kid looks good and still has a lot of learning to do. This is what the canucks need. The competition are still NHL calibre players on the hawks so im gonna be dirty dancing for the remainder of the period because our cupboards were bare and the depth was non-existent, which doesnt seem to be the case anymore.

Would prefer to keep the 8th OA pick, Boeser and Lekerremaki.
Boeser will return to from next season with a hardworked offseason.
Lekerremaki is gifted hockey player who had a string of bad luck and needs patience to see if any strides can be made next year.
8th OA could be Reinbacher, ASP or one of Benson or Smith.
Would prefer to trade Myers, Pearson, Garland and Beauvillier next season.
Myers for a 3rd on Sept 16
Pearson for futures
Garland for 2nd and a 3rd at the draft
Beauvillier at the deadline for 1st+ (if he keeps up his play and production)
Sign Graves or Gavrikov in the offseason if possible
Pray that Kravtsov and Raty develop into top end role players
A few more tweaks in the 2024 off season to land a top 4 defenseman (lots of talented FA defenseman available in 2024)
Kuzmenko Pettersson Mikhayev
Hoglander Miller Boeser
Kravtsov Raty Podkolzin
McDonough Aman Joshua
Hughes ASP/Reinbacher
Hanifin/Skej/Necas Hronek
Hirose Johansson/Kudraytsev
Demko
Silovs
-
Hughes Johansson
Simashev Hronek
Hirose ????
Hughes Reinbacher
???? Hronek
Hirose Johansson
Hughes Johansson
Hirose Hronek
???? Sandin-Pelikka
We would need one additional bonafide top 4 (LHD or RHD depending on who we draft).
Which option does everyone go with 1,2, or 3?

To Van
Cal Foote
Dante Fabbro
To Nsh
Connor Garland
Jack Rathbone

After reviewing Button's list, it becomes quite clear we need(ed) to have a lot more draft capital. Hopefully we can move some players for picks in the 2nd/3rd round.
My list:
Bedard
Fantili
Carlsson
Michkov
Smith
Benson
Reinbacher
Moore
Dvorsky
Danielsson
Sandin-Pellika
Yager
Barlow
Wood
Simashev

Like the Arizona game, I think the Canucks come out flat having to play 3 games in the last 4. I think STL takes this in a close one. 4-3 with Kapanen having the game winner.
For us Joshua, Petey and Boeser light the lamp. Hughes and Miller both with 2 points.
Can I say, as much as I have supported Kravtsov since hes come over, but he needs to sit 1-2 games. I think he needs half a season in the AHL before he's ready to return to the NHL. Shows flashes of a great tool kit but just doesnt seem to have that next step to translate the work ethic into points.
-
unlikely, improbable, chances are slim to none but what youre saying is there IS a chance?
I dont see Winnipeg playing that poorly. I especially dont see them losing to San Jose twice. Mathematically there is a chance but in reality, there really isn't a chance.

6 out of 11 lmao thats like saying hey only 5 out of the last 11 teams were lower than us...
Lmao no you're wrong haha. Wow
7 out of the last 11 wins came against teams ahead of us. 1 loss against Arizona and 1 loss against Vegas. So 8 of our last 11 games were against teams ahead of us and we went 7-1. LMAO what were you saying?

I think like other drafts you will see him gone in the top 5 picks.
I think highest he will go is 7.
Bedard
Carlsson
Fantili
Michkov
Benson
Smith
I dont think he goes before any of those players. After those 6, the 7-15 pick could play out in a number of different ways and the Canucks have several options in the top 12. Although, I do believe Canucks finally get some lotto luck and draft 2/3 OA.

If we draft 8-12, would love to get Reinbacher. Do you think he’d jump straight into the NHL though?
Many seem to believe his size and his ability to think the game are already at an NHL level. I think he starts in the AHL and gets called up in the new year. Until then, we have enough depth defenseman to slot it until he's ready. I honestly think he is the only defenseman in this draft that could jump into the league in D+1

Would love to see us land somewhere like:
Hughes - Korczak
Gavrikov - Hronek
Bahl - Livingstone/Malinski
That’s a good mix of size and mobility
Draft Reinbacher hopefully
Sign Gavrikov
Pray to God OEL has a Karlsson type resurgent season
Hughes Reinbacher
Oel Hronek
Gavrikov Wolanin/Brisboise/Burroughs/Juulsen

Glad we can beat a damaged and injured Vegas golden knights team on their 4th goalie.
You should be ecstatic. We did this with an AHL defense.
So to put things into perspective: Canucks have AHL backup calibre goalies, an AHL defense and arent allowed to use this as an excuse but a supposed injured VGK with the 4th string goalie gets a pass? Who exactly was VGK missing from their lineup? Pietrangelo, Eichel, Karlsson, Theodore, Marchessault????
We played incredibly well against Boston, Toronto and Dallas. Guess its a fluke they are in the playoffs when they cant even beat an AHL defense lineup and a bottom 6 made up of Dries, Aman, Joshua, Studnicka

Predictions based on a little of something and some of nothing - Fact and Fiction
Both Garland and Myers will be traded for draft picks in the offseason
One of Boeser and Beauvillier will be traded as well - likely for draft pics but hopefully for a top 4 RHD at the deadline
Pearson likely retires
Dermott will likely get traded for a late round pick
Poolman will likely remain on LTIR and could possibly be traded to a cap floor team
Ferland comes off the books at the end of this season
I think Luongo's capture comes off after next season
Raty is progressing nicely and could be our 3c for next year especially with a great off season and training camp
Boeser will have a resurgent year next year with Tocchet at the helm and his dedication to off season training
Hughes, Miller, Petey, Kuzmenko will all improve and continue playing well
Johansson and Kudratsyev are playing well and could be our future 3rd pairing along with Burroughs, Wolanin, Juulsen and Brisebois
Hoping Kravstov and Podk will work together during the off season and come back as a legit duo to play alongside Raty as a tough to play against match up line
Hoglander will get to the big club at some point next year and expect him to play with a chip on his shoulder (45-50 points)
We will draft Reinbacher with our 9th OA draft pick.
We will find some gems in the 4th round
Next year we will be 3rd in the division alongside Vegas, Edmonton with Seattle at our heels.
