  1. Or you could always just ignore my post instead of being a message board police officer and trying to tell me what i can post. Just sayin.
  2. Not that it would happen: Move Tanev, sign Gardiner (only if its low term and reasonable cap hit). Thats 3 pretty good balanced pairings and some weapons for the PP. Leaves Edler, Myers, and Benn to help our PK too. Edler needs to move down the PP depth chart imo. Each of those pairings could be trusted 5 on 5 and gives special teams flexibility. Gardiner is not a defensive wizard but he is also not nearly as bad as Toronto fans and media say he is. Edler-Stecher Hughes-Myers Gardiner-Benn
  3. Four 1st round picks doesn't help the leafs who are built to compete now.
  4. If this did happen and they did match, it pretty much screws their ability to ice a deep enough team to compete for a cup.
  5. Umm you know i wasnt talking about nor did i even mention Lucic, right? I was giving an example of a situation where he could actually be used to his strengths as a player. He hasnt been in Van since day 1.
  6. Eriksson needs to be in an offensive role at this stage to ever be worth that contract. Aint happening in Van. He would actually probably be a decent fit in Edmontons top 9,maybe even top 6. He was a garbage goal collector and pp netfront guy in Boston, he could do that in Edm. Vancouver coaching and how they have utilized LE is definitely part of the reason he has underachieved. But most of the reason is him.
  7. Depends on the asset given up. If its another from our glut of forwards it could be worth it, especially if Benning has a replacement he is looking to sign. Erikssons problem isnt his play, its his cap hit. And the opportunity cost of what it could be used for.
  8. We are thrilled to add another solid defender and leader to our defense corps. Like with Anton Stralman, we see Carl as a key to helping show our young defenders what it means to be a hardworking pro. His winning pedigree and willingness to be a mentor will be extremely valuable as Ottawa builds around its solid young core group.
  9. I will appreciate looking back trying to find other peoples trades that might make my soon to be brutal ones coming look good haha
  10. Add in possibly moving Sutter, Tanev, Schaller, and/or Baertschi and I think there is an opportunity to improve even more. We could retain for a year on any of those deals and be ahead of the game.
  11. Trade talks are heating up in Ottawa. A few substantial offers have been made for some of our young players as well as some teams looking to move cap and bodies, but nothing imminent at this time. We figure as the free agency winners and losers continue to be determined, we will be in a good position to improve our team. Some veteran players are available for those teams missing out on free agents as we continue to build around our young core.
  12. I think i would rather see Benning add a bit of a sweetener to get rid of Eriksson's contract tbh. I think of any trade as: Eriksson plus sweetener for whatever players could be signed with that 6 mil cap space. Still several out there who would make that scenario worth it.
  13. It would be weird not to be more excited about that lol
  14. I believe once a player waives a nmc/ntc the only way it continues in effect is if the acquiring team signs an addendum agreeing to keep it. The team can void it for the remainder I believe if they choose to. I have no idea where i read this so i could be wrong lol.
  15. Ottawa is thrilled to get Joonas under contract. He fills a void in our top 9 and we believe he has even more to give going forward. He will have every opportunity to earn a bigger role in Ottawa.
  16. Edler-Barrie Hughes-Myers Benn-Stecher I could live with that. Nice balance of size and speed on each pairing. Good puck moving ability. 3 pairings that can chip in offensively.
  17. I hope Barrie signs with the Canucks next summer as a UFA. Can you imagine the crying from leafs media? Leafs are going all in on one season with no depth, no grit, and no cap. Another GM should absolutely force their hand right now and sign Marner to an offer sheet. I dont think based on the crumbling mirage they have built that it can withstand letting Marner go for futures.
  18. Ottawa is thrilled to bring in Anton. His experience, leadership, and mentoring will be a tremendous value to our young fellow Swede defensemen Dahlin, Bogvist, and Marcus Petterssen. Not to mention our star forward Elias Petterssen. We are looking for him to stay healthy and add to our top 4.
  19. No way would the Avs have wanted Sutter over Kadri. Leafs appear to be trying to go all in this season. Either that or they know Marner is gone or at such a high numver that they cant re-sign him. Other GM's have to be thinking offer sheet for marner now.
  20. I wonder how the deal is structured. I mean, are they telling the league he will play until almost 40 when they just forced Luongo to retire because they decided he couldnt?
  21. This You would be hard pressed to find a worse shutdown center if you were trying.
