  1. Canadian Olympian Andre De Grasse top speed on foot is 41.9 kph, that is faster than McDavid on skates!

Hockey players do have to slow down to stop from dying when crashing into those pesky boards. I wonder where McJesus would top out on purely unimpeded open ice. I know ice speed skaters can go MUCH faster.

"So, how fast do speed skaters go? Short track speed skaters on ice go about 31mph (50kph) but can reach speeds in excess of 35 mph (56kph). The fastest ice speed skater reached 56.5mph (91kph), whereas the fastest downhill inline skater reached 77mph (124 kph)."

@Drive-By Body Pierce...downhill skiers have the benefit of gravity (9.8 meters per second squared on a 90 degree incline -- this is all I can recollect from my first year Physics classes some 38 years ago), so that would give them a slight advantage I would think?

Great accomplishment by Andre De Grasse...great to see Canadians on the podium in men's track again (sic: Donovan Bailey).  Makes me proud to be a Canadian.  Thank you, Andre.

Yes @bigbadcanucks - downhill skiers have the benefit of gravity and this would most certainly give them a “slight advantage.”  There is absolutely no need to draw on the physics course that you took back in 1983.  Common sense will more than suffice.  :-p
