  1. I would think it's to keep Gaudette motivated and be fair to him. It seems to most here on CDC that he is definitely the next young player on the verge of making the team. It was different the last couple of years when Utica players were getting rotated in to get some reward while knowing full well they wouldn't see game action. I think they want to keep showing that they are invested in his development.
  2. Ottawa has very few players signed in two years time I believe. Low risk, med reward ... but Melnyk is cheap. I would definitely give him a whirl if I was OTT. If nothing else he's a consummate professional and good for helping the youngsters along.
  3. So many people lack understanding of the range at which people acclimate with new teammates. I can see why Schaller, playing with revolving teammates, on revolving lines, on a struggling team, with limited self potential struggled at times. I am not at all surprised to see him game at the levels we hoped after this team has improved, and is far more stable.
  4. Doughty is a douche bag. I agree. Not many guys in professional sports last if they are calling out the opposition though. Adding fuel to another dressing room is a pretty good way to get your ass kicked. Mohammed Ali got away with it though.
  5. Usually this means the player is chirping his own team and calling them out for a weaker than acceptable performance.
  6. Wrong side of the body Pete. You did it on the second goal though. GCG.
  7. We seem to be getting better at going 100% of the time and at the start of the game. We started out great last game. Held it for two periods and ran out of gas. Getting better. I bet a lot of people complaining about Green not going for it in the third are the same complaining about slow starts. Lol. Let's tie this up.
  8. No brainer in my opinion. Fantenberg hits like a truck, plays good defence, and has proven he can play a role. The other three not so much. Saunter got some games due to severe injury problems. Just randomly throwing prospects into a depth position isn't that simple. Also this move is quite easy to reverse while your situation is not.
  9. I would let him fight for a 6-7 spot. I would play him in Benn's spot or in the press box. The problem I foresee is that he's two years removed from the NHL and would have to prove himself again. Likely a similar repeat of his first year. It doesn't sound like he'd be agreeable. If that's the case then I don't see him working out. I highly doubt he's an upgrade to our top 4.
  10. I think he just thinks the game so much better than a guy like Edler. Sorry Eddie. It's not only how hard to shoot and sneaking a shot through a lane but also the timing. He'll shoot quickly between the top passing lane where as Eddie is always trying to shoot it through someone long after he has run out of time and space, I noticed a couple times that we were starting to look like those good teams where we were getting deflections off deflections on Quinn's shots to the net. That's partially because the other 4 players are now going to the net looking for pucks instead of just standing there hoping his teammate will pull off a miracle play.
  11. Can't wait. He's a player that helps others out when they need it. Tough guys strike when the iron is hot. Settle down and let him settle in, and then watch when he settles someone else out. I thought I saw some really good things there today, and mostly hockey plays, which is what we need.
  12. I like Jake but what game was he better? He skated liked a demon, and was all over the ice. Part of the initial onslaught. Might have scored if Bo gave him that 2 on 0 pass.
  13. Yup. In all fairness we figured out how to shoot the puck properly on the PP. Now all we need to dis is hit the net. So yeah target practice. Unfortunately there are not a lot of hours for that when you're on the road.
  14. The coach or Bo must have asked for more this game after yesterday. Probably both. We were absolutely killing it through 2 periods. I saw the other coach respond and ask his team for more, which they gave. We survived. That's hockey. Beautiful game. Take 4.
  15. I'm pretty sure Hamburger Brains is all over it on HF Boards
  16. On our 40th year we went to the Cup final. Very exciting and it started with a celebration. Or was it a year later? None the less that year inspired the whole team.
  17. CanucksJay: I took a couple of days to clear the hangover and write what I saw from the game at the dome. My views are probably not too intelligent as I was completely hammed. Hughes is high risk high reward. We gotta let that kid go and live with the consequences. If things go right, we will score more than we let in with this approach. Boeser's timing is off. Missing camp from hold out and concussion will require probably the next few days to get his timing back. Our passes were way off. A lot of passes were behind the player, a lot of passes were bobbled. Looked completely amateur. Knee-jerk reaction is to blame the coaches but the same ppl were excited about how many goals we were scoring during preseason. I'm glad there is 3 day break in between the games as I think the practice time will help. These guys are pros. It's not like they'll bobble the puck forever. Liked Myers. Loved that he went after Gio after the cross check. Thought Jake had a decent game. Benn is a slightly better version than Biega. It would have been great to come out this season firing on all cylinders but looks like it will take a few games. Hopefully that's not the difference between making and missing the playoffs. Nice. I like your calm demeanor and synopsis. Our players are definitely good enough. It's only 2 games out of 82. The work needs to happen on the ice. I'm pumped for Wednesday. Cheers. Congrats on getting over the hangover ... lol.
  18. Don't panic. The solution is practice, patience, and bounces. You can't just magically re-arrange everything and think line changes will solve the problem, Although sometimes that does work the players just need to be better individually. 33% of our top 6 have never played together. Pretty much the same on D. I am hoping for a much better effort Wednesday ... if only the insufferable 50 year thing doesn't distract the players. I've seen so many home teams lulled to sleep by theatrics while the visitors sit chomping at the bit raring to go.
