  1. Back then they had Dahlin out and another defender (can't remember who). They brought in Stillman as a depth guy who played in the league this year. They were in the wildcard race. As it turns out Dahlin only missed 3 games, and ironically Stillman is now out day to day.
  2. Me too, well I was 12 and the cop drove me home with my bike in his trunk. I am a crud-loving, dirtbag, scum-sucking, lowlife, slimeball, vermin-like, parasitic, slimeball, life-long criminal, pig. And I'm loving every minute of it. Best part was my dad felt guilty it was his fault and raised my allowance by $5 a week. lol, Imagine being held to such a high standard of moral code. Something in the upbringing perhaps.
  3. I love watching defensive hockey. A lot of times it's just sheer determination and the will to win. Simply put, can you get back when you're dog tired, make the right read, and mark your check. It's a battle of wills, a lot of times its against yourself. I find it fascinating, tough to accomplish, yet very simple in theory.
  4. Beauvillier, has been great with Petey, and Kuz, but on the other hand Bo is leading the Isles to victories despite both Barzal and Pageau going down. He's played superbly for them, 62% on the dot since Pageau went down, and only one goal on the PP too (I think). Either way this is a win, win trade as I see it.
  5. Yeah I think it says more about Heff than it does about RT. But hey, I'm a worthless scumbag so ....
  6. I like him personally. Wears his heart on his sleeve. Definitely a meat and potatoes guy. I liked him from day one though as my best friend was a flyers fan, and I was a huge Lemieux, and therefore Penguins fan as well. I liked the way he played hockey, super tough, no nonsense, highly skilled, back in a different era of hockey I liked Roenick too, so maybe I'm just lacking character. I will do some soul searching tonight.
  7. Oooohh a judge said so. Well I also got told from a judge smoking marijuana is bad so I guess I'm a waste of skin pos too? No surprise. Well I also believe in forgiveness, and believe all people make mistakes from time to time, and the most important thing is atonement and learning from them. But hey to hell with all that right? There are also a lot of people that do bad things, real bad things and don't get caught. A judge, the most important and worthy beings on the planet didn't tell everyone they're bad so they get a pass too I guess. Everyone's a scumbag el holy one. We got it. You're perfect. We're all scum. Move along nothing new to see here.
  8. Nope sorry, it takes at least 5 years for draft picks before they can play in the NHL.
  9. According to you everyone in the world besides you has massive character issues though. Well maybe Jesus and Mother Theresa might get a pass on a Sunday.
  10. Yeah, since we got Hronek (although yet to play) I think Center is the more pressing need. We need two of those yet and absolutely nothing in the pipeline.
  11. Agree to disagree Alf. You'll probably change your mind very soon anyways like usual. Your analysis is always rooted in fanaticism. I.e., it can't be trusted. Depends on who we trade for you'll think they're the next savior. Same as your wild speculation on buyouts, moving players, and how easy that will be. Call me a skeptic.
  12. Yeah. I guess impatient people can't see they're impatient. I don't know how anyone couldn't step back from the situation and not clearly see that. The bolded just keeps me shaking my head a bit. Like how can anyone honestly say that with a straight face is mind boggling.
  13. Miller is not a very good 2C, he doesn't have enough experience yet. Even Rutherford agrees and says he's learning on the fly. Alfism aside we'll see moving forward next year if he can actually be relied on to play that role on a quality team, or will he revert to past tendencies. Yes, we have a couple really good core pieces. Kuz has demonstrated he is indeed for real. The rest of the guys have a lot to prove as far as leading a team to success. Your comments are wishes, not fact. Our key core is sparse, which is a problem. We need a couple more difference makers to compete with the best. We do have a number of good and intriguing pieces though. Pretty good but not as good as you imply.
  14. Yup, we always have an excuse. This time it's supporting the core and going for it because they might leave. So who cares about 5 years from now. Don't people realize it's a never ending cycle? At some point in time we have to start looking further than past our own noses if we want to be successful ... imho.
  15. You know I find it hilarious/sad when people keep harping that draft picks are useless until 5 years down the road. First of all that's false, most picks, if they are going to make it make sooner. Secondly, it doesn't even matter if it is true, do they think that we're folding the team in 5 years? If not don't we need a continual stream of players coming in if we plan on being successful over a prolonged period of time. Seems pretty obvious. These guys are basically saying screw it I don't care about 5 years from now. Well guess what, that's what these same guys said 5 years ago and here we are. Now ... we don't have a cup, and we don't have good young prospects ready to step into the line-up to build off of. If you looked at it from a business standpoint it's horrible management all around.
  16. We're missing: Reliable Defensive 2C Defensive, PKer 3C Defence, size, and two way players in the top 6 Defence in the bottom 6 PK'ers in the bottom 6 Heavy, gritty, tough minute munching bottom 6 Top 4 RD Top 4 LD Defensive Depth in the bottom D #5 - #9 Backup Goalie (maybe Silovs) ELC contracts / sustainability Depth Other than that we're right up there with the likes of Colorado and Tampa
  17. Yes, you are correct. They are going about it the same way. Cutting corners and trading away picks while being a bottom feeder team, trying to win now at all costs. Is that to say it won't work? No of course not, there is a chance it could work. But, as we've seen demonstrated it can easily go stale and upside down pretty quick. The margin of error is so slim it's pretty much zero. It's why I have been advocating for building the team up through draft picks for once in our existence. Maybe we win a cup in 3 or 4 years this way, but if we don't we're going to be doomed in 5 years and face another 7 year retool/rebuild or whatever you call it with no building blocks to start from ala Gillis. It is the same thing over and over for those of us who are old enough to have lived through the last 20 years+ of Canuck hockey. Will it work? Who knows but it's getting pretty tiresome. All I can say is that I guess it's exciting in that we should at least be competing for something (wildcard) the next few years as compared to knowing we've lost before we start. Only one word comes to mind though ... Impatience. I'm hoping I actually get to see us lay the groundwork for being successful before I die. The SC itself seems like a pipe dream at this point. I don't think people understand just quite how large of a commitment it takes to get there. You need to make sacrifices ... the kind we seem unwilling to make.
  18. Long story short. Ryan is his name. Bryan is his dad. Yeah, you know it's true, with everything you do. Stop bragging already @cripplereh
