It's not just the defence. 2021 Demko would've saved those shots. It's a bad thing when you have more trust in your backup than in your starting goalie. I've always felt insecure with Demko starting the games he's been in. He's part of the issue.

I think it's been a mixture of that passenger mentality and our defensive personnel. Management failed to really address one component in the offseason and the players are trying to fix the other component. We'll see what happens I guess but I'm just sick and tired with the mixed results and signals we've been getting from this team for years.

If we win next game, are we still team tank? 4-6-2 isn't too bad of a record... I do want Bedard or any of the top picks available but I also don't know with this team what to expect at all. Today's game still shows defensively we're atrocious and I think our goaltending/defence have been terrible throughout. There needs to be big changes there. However, if they can keep up the mentality of playing for a full 60 then things could turn around quickly. It's really up to the players.

Not sure about that. If it's to a small capacity then perhaps, but his personality fits TV rather well I'd say. The entire roster on HNIC/Sportsnet is a borefest and KB is the only one that adds some entertainment along with maybe Elliot Friedmann (who's a decent source for rumours). He also seems to really like being on the panel. Francesco tried something like that with Trevor Linden in the President position, and all that resulted in was broken ties between him and the team. He hasn't said or expressed anything in relation to this team since. If Bieksa were interested and if it were to some smaller capacity with no big burden on his shoulders, then sure. However, I don't see him leaving his current job anytime soon.

I'm not sure he's interested in coaching. Seems to be enjoying his HNIC job. One can dream though.

It's because they simply don't care. 2-5-2 going in, with 3 days of rest, at home... and that's how you show up? The fact that there is no urgency blatantly shows this isn't even near a competitive play-off team. Even if through some miracle this team were to make the playoffs, we'd get bounced in the first round. Look at the adversity all the elite teams go through all 4 rounds. Look at Tampa (even though they lost last year in the final), who could've easily decided to fold the season after those two straight cup wins, and blame it on a Stanley cup hangover. They still made it to a third straight finals and the amount of sheer mental fortitude to even have the motivation for a 3rd straight long, arduous post-season is pretty freaking amazing when you compare it to the pathetic sh*t show we have here. We aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of compete level, motivation and determination for even 1 playoff round.
