  1. they look like they give 0 f*cks. its sunday morning skate for them. no hustle. not a care at all. f*ck these guys.
  2. certainly sounds more intimidating than a pooping orca is for sure
  3. would you rather have the plate of spaghetti? how about the pizza hanging off the neck? the cartoon character? whatever it may be, perhaps you can try convincing the owners.
  4. I think they'll be encouraged finally playing on home ice but would also be such a typical Canuck thing if they blew their home opener. Anywho, should be an interesting game.
  5. I'm not a big fan of the Orca either. However, at this point, no matter what jersey we'd switch to (either a new design, or bringing back an older one) you will never appease 100% of the fanbase. Everyone grew up in different eras and will hold a specific jersey closer to their liking. It's not like the Canadiens logo where they've had pretty much the same design (the "C", sometimes with minor differences throughout their history) since the creation of the team over a hundred years ago. That's their identity. You see the logo and the Montreal Canadiens are immediately what you think of. I agree with you completely. We need to stick to something for once instead of constantly trying to change it and say "WeLL I LiKe tHe (insert here).... bRiNg ThAt BaCk"
  6. It was inevitable. Sadly. If anything, at least it fits the colour scheme of the jersey.
  7. well keep hating on it because according to the canucks execs, they're going to be wearing it for the foreseeable future.
  8. Identity is all in context. Had the canucks won the stanley cup in 2011, people would have a fond image of the orca because of our domination during that time period (the Sedin era). We also had a more talented team in 2011 compared to the 80's, so it's really give and take.. I know people that are just fine with the Orca and don't cry bloody murder about it just as much as there is a group of people that are ok with, and even really like the Flying V's. That's ok. Opinions are subjective. You might not think it's the worst but I do. I personally have never seen a professional sports jersey that reminded me of a slice of pizza coming down the neck. A lot of hockey fans outside of just the Canuck fan base seem to agree that, for the most part, these jerseys were hideous. To each their own.
  9. I think it also boils down to the maturity of the players too. Are the proper leaders set in place? Back then we had leaders that didn't necessarily even need to wear a letter to call shots and hold other teammates accountable. All of Kesler, Bieksa, The Sedins, Burrows, Hansen, Luongo, Edler..etc were leaders on this team I'd say. A pretty large, collective group. Miller is supposed to be a leader on this team (people early on were calling for him to replace Bo as Captain lol) and he sure does talk a lot about playing better but he hasn't shown it on the ice at all. Bo's leadership has been called into question at times (although he's playing better now). OEL wears a letter but he's been crap quite frankly. There isn't a lot of leaders I think I can point to, compared to like what you mentioned a decade ago. I really don't know. It's almost like this team is lacking foundation right now.
  10. Not related to this game specifically but on the team struggles in general... found it interesting to see what Jannik Hansen had to say about his former team: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/jannik-hansen-speaks-canucks-drama?fbclid=IwAR17U42CJ415dzySE8LnMyFFtIfpkCFmCiIYAJsr1OlBD7s2lQZgrG1WB0c “Right now, I sense panic, sheer panic, to be honest,” Hansen said. “The fact that they call a players-only meeting two or three games into the season is concerning. That leads me to, like, locker room issues, leadership problems, and all these things I hate to speculate about, but when I see something like that, that early, that’s what it leads me to. “So, again, you hope that this is, I don’t know, a mental fart if you will, and they’re right back on track, but it doesn’t get any easier. “You need to sort this out really quickly or we’re going to be right back where we were last year.” Do teammates have to like each other? Hansen was asked if teammates need to like each other. He said no, but that players need to “have respect for each other and get into unison together.” “Again, this is not the first time we’re hearing these reports out of the dressing room. We’ve heard it before. It’s troubling and again, sometimes when there’s smoke, there’s fire.” How Canucks handled adversity during Hansen’s playing days “We had down stretches where you would lose four, five in a row and bridges are burning and houses are falling down and stuff like this but again, that’s where your leadership group gets you out of it. They take charge of the dressing room in a way that no coaches can do. A coach can only come in and yell so much. “It boils down to the guys in the room and they’re the ones that step on the ice, those are the ones that can win the game. It’s that simple. “When we were having issues, it wasn’t one or two people that did that for us. It might have been the Sedins on the ice or whoever it might be but in the dressing room, it was the leadership group… whether it was Burr, Kes, Bieksa, or Luongo, or any of these guys with a bigger voice that would stand up and hold guys accountable.”
  11. Jannik Hansen isn't part of the team anymore but he also had some interesting things to say: https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/jannik-hansen-speaks-canucks-drama?fbclid=IwAR17U42CJ415dzySE8LnMyFFtIfpkCFmCiIYAJsr1OlBD7s2lQZgrG1WB0c “Right now, I sense panic, sheer panic, to be honest,” Hansen said. “The fact that they call a players-only meeting two or three games into the season is concerning. 12. well... this team also shouldn't be bad to the point of giving up 5 straight games where they've lead in the game... so at this point i think you could pretty much expect anything.
