Gonna be funny coming back to this thread when he’s suspended, although you never know what Parros is gonna do.

No, he went 190’ chasing the puck, the hit happened last second as a way of preventing a goal.
Id bet a year of sobriety that if it was Marchand that was hit the majority would be siding with me.
I don’t really understand what difference that makes. It’s still a charge. He skated from his end of the rink and ran straight through the guy. It’s a charge, last second decision or not.

"Charging"
And if it's vicious (it was) it certainly can be followed up on.
They keep glossing over the fact that it was a charge, which is not a clean hit. I don’t get it lol.

Perhaps figure skating is more your thing then, this is hockey, people get hit and sometimes clean hits hurt.
Very original, 12/10 chirp. I’m all for physical hockey, especially in the playoffs, but I just don’t get how you can see the result of that hit and say that it’s clean. Refs agreed, hnic panel agrees, most of the hockey world would agree. The only people that think it’s clean are beer league has-beens and Sean Avery lol.

Is Scheiffele not supposed to stop the chance?
All Scheiffele has to do is scare Evans and he can help keep it a 1 goal game. Evans did exactly what a real man does and takes the hit to make the play. Its just really unfortunate he took a high speed hit and wasnt braced for it.I can see both sides of it. It was without a doubt not the outcome that Scheiffele was going for. Is a poke check going to scare you from going for the empty netter or is a big scary hit going to?
The only thing Scheiffele prevented on that play was Evans being able to celebrate his birthday. This kind of hit is bad for the game. It’s trash. Doesn’t matter what his intent was, he put that kid in a stretcher.

Juice said it best, can’t see any way someone could try to defend this kind of hit.

The speed of that hit is what makes it look a lot uglier than it really was. It wasnt high, his elbow and arm were tucked in unlike Kadri. He ran his shoulder into his chest and Evans head snapped forward at high velocity. In all honesty, what is Scheiffele supposed to do, nah man here take the empty netter. I’d hate to try and keep you from scoring.
Be real, if that was 25% slower speed Evans gets up from that hit.
You can say there was no point to throw the hit, but I strongly disagree. Its a 1 goal game theres almost a minute of hockey left. If Scheiffele lets Evans come out with an easy tap in, he gets hung for the lack of effort.
Evans should be expecting to be hit if hes trying to score a goal. He didnt shy away from the puck. Scheiffele was coming in hot and heavy to try and get Evans to give up the chance and keep the game alive. He took the hit to make the play.
High speed hit, without the intent to injure. Its unfortunate Evans got injured, but it was without a doubt not Scheiffele’s intent. He wanted to scare Evans from going for the empty netter. The problem is that it wasn’t 25% slower. It’s a charge that resulted in a pretty brutal injury, he doesn’t need to run his shoulder through the guy. Is Evans not supposed to try to score there? There’s honestly no way to defend yourself when someone comes in that hot. I get what you’re saying, but I just think Scheiffele could just pull up a bit there.

wow....Schiffy.....probably gonna be suspended for that one....doesn't look like a dirty hit.....but not sure if was necessary considering Evans had already scored....
Not dirty? He’s skating hard from the opposing blueline, and targeted the head on a vulnerable player. On what planet is that not a dirty hit? I’m all for hard nosed playoff style hockey, but this is just completely over the top.

Jumped into his head, no respect whatsoever.

That’s an unacceptable hit. Literally a charge from center ice head being the first place of contact. Disgusting.

What would you say if it was us winning the lottery every year? Would we be complaining then?
I mean, yeah. Do you think it’s right the Edmonton won it 6 times in 10 years (may need to be corrected here)? Buffalo now twice, Jersey twice. Just seems broken to me. I don’t think teams should be overly rewarded for being perpetually terrible. Just my opinion though.

Anyone else have issues with this current format? New Jersey has picked top 3 since 17. Buffalo, Eichel, dahlen, and now another first.
f u Vancouver you guys will never pick above 5th
It’s 100% a broken system. Shouldn’t be the same teams winning every year.

As long as we end up with a playmaker or a dman I’ll be happy. Don’t think we need another shoot first player. I keep seeing McTavish being suggested here and I think that would be a mistake.
-
I’m hoping to see McTavish and Wallstedt get picked ahead of us. Would mean a more favorable player dropping to our spot. It’s too bad there isn’t a rhd other than Clarke that’s solidified in the top 10. We need it desperately.
-
Taylor Hall curse is too real. When is the rule being implemented that a team can only win so many first overall picks? Sick of seeing the same teams get the first pick.

Should have known not to get my hopes up lol. I’ll consider not dropping any spots a win.

HahAhahahahaha happy retirement Jumbo!

Have fun in Cancun Laffs! Gonna be funny seeing the whole series being blamed on refs!

My apologies that I don't think the world of my management team because they signed a prospect they have full control over. Then again, this management team did manage to flub Tryamkin, who - according to their own, past comments - was a guy they were very high on using for this team. In that case, maybe I should be grateful they didn't flub this up.
Regardless, we can live in a world where we can be happy about a signing and also call out the comments that are meant to dunk on the "haters". That's the real negativity.
Hope this helps.
It’s not about bootlicking. It’s about giving credit where credit is due. It’s fair to be critical of JB’s mistakes, and we all can agree he has made them, but is it really that hard to just say good job and leave it at that? There’s a reason you’ve built a bit of a reputation as a whiny baby on this forum.
Hope this helps.

Really depends if somebody slides to you. But if nothing crazy happens it’s definitely justifiable! Believe he’s ranked early teens but I don’t see much separation between 9-14. Also he seems like a Benning pick.
Based off what I’ve seen I would agree he looks like a Benning pick, great engine and highly skilled. I just don’t have a great depth of knowledge on this years draft compared to past years. I’m fairly confident the nucks will end up with a difference maker.

I'll be shocked if he makes it past the top 4. Goran Stubb and Central Scouting are notorious for shying away from smaller players (they had Lundell and Holtz over Raymond last year), and even they have Eklund ranked first in Europe. Power is the safest bet to go first overall for sure, but if a team with a heavy European scouting presence wins the lottery (Columbus, New Jersey, Detroit), I could honestly see Eklund going first overall. Especially if it's Kekalainen - that guy could not give a &^@# what traditional hockey logic thinks; and their director of amateur scouting is based out of Europe (not sure there are any other teams that is true of) and their director of European scouting is based out of Sweden.
I've said all year that Chibrikov, Johnson and Lysell are the most purely skilled players in the draft. Eklund is a bit of a step down from them in pure skill, but his hockey IQ is through the roof, and as you mentioned, intensity and compete look very high too.
Do you think Lysell would be a good pick at 9? Justifiable? Or would you consider it a reach?

Seems like the twins are pretty determined to bring a cup to Vancouver. Curious if they could be successful as assistant coaches? They’ve got the smarts to put pucks in the net, and they’ve experienced the toughest defenses on a nightly basis. Not saying that’s the right call but I could see them being pretty strong in that role.

I say he gets 2 games. I would give him 4 but because he’s a star he gets away easy. At this point it would be dumb not to suspend him. Unless Parros wants a bloodbath in the next game.
