  1. Hey, come on now, "hoping and believing" is what the entire Prospects / In The System category is all about. All though I do agree with most of what you said about Tryamkin. I would still like (dream) to see what he can contribute to this team after whatever development he has gotten in Russia. Just a one year "show me" contract is all I want to see.
  2. That's a really good list of all the vets with contracts expiring after this season or next. Right when all of our youth are ready to be resigned. If thats supposed to be a list of JBs bad contracts I have 2 problems with it: 1. Why is Luongo on there? Does that have anything to do with JB? 2. Myers is currently tied for 27th in league wide defensive scoring. He has more points than Burns, OEL, Pietrangelo, Subban, Weber, Morrissey, Ellis, Dumba, Karlsson or Keith. All of whom make either similar money or considerably more. To me that says Myers is clearly earning his money.
  3. By 'things they did do in rebuilding their team' are you referring to trading for 3 consecutive first round picks and then immediately whiffing all of them? And you want to talk about Bennings bad signing of Eriksson but what about Bostons signings of Coyle, Debrusk and Grzelcyk. Myers has as many points as Coyle and Debrusk combined. They are an incredibly overrated team at this point. They are exactly 1 line deep. With one defenseman and two decent goalies. Demko has a worse GAA than Halak or Rask but a better save percentage. The biggest thing they have is they are much better coached team that plays a better structure. They also have one of the worst prospect pools in the entire NHL, so much for building from within. I still can't figure out why signing Ferland was a bad signing to people, sure it didn't work out because of his concussions but at this point all it costs is the owners money, doesn't count against the cap and doesn't take a roster spot either so it's a nothing signing at this point. And if it wasn't for the injuries he would be something that this team is sorely missing. Hopefully in the near future Gadj can fill that hole
  4. You do realize that all these players that you say should have been the first that Benning moved out had No Movement Clauses and were completely unwilling to waive them. Also if the Bruins are such a smart, savy team that doesn't hold on the aging vets why was Chara there until he was 42? Why were Chara and Krug allowed to just walk away with no return? Why haven't they traded a 35 year old Bergeron? Why haven't they traded a 33 year old Rask that is the worst of there 2 goalies?
  5. No the guy on the ice took a headshot from Podkolzins linemate Morozov, he got ejected for the hit. Podkolzin got the roughing penalty for coming to his teammates defense because the Minsk players immediately went after Morozov.
  6. Really looking like he could actually turn in to the Tomas Holmström I hoped he would be when we drafted him. He's got such good hands when he's crashing and banging in front of the net
  7. And just out of curiosity what were Markström's number like when we brought him in? Seems like that was a gamble too. How did that one turn out after he was given enough time to work on his game under a new goalie coach?
  8. Yes, Brossoit is having a decent season but he has never been anything more than a tweener back up compared to Holtby who has been a seasoned starter with a Stanley Cup ring, a Vezina and a Jennings trophy. Again he was brought in to be a 1A 1B situation with Demko, as well as being a solid veteran mentor and it hasn't worked out that way, Demmer has shown he's ready to be a regular starter and Holtby needs some more work with Clark. Also we needed Holtby so we had a goalie to expose to Seattle. I'm so sick of the 'wE cOuLd Of SiGnEd Toffoli' narrative. Toffoli has been WILDLY mediocre this year when playing any team not named Vancouver. Motte has as many goals in fewer games than Toffoli against the rest of the division and we pay him way less then 4.25. Sutter has more goals than Toffoli so his 4.375 must be worth every penny in your book.
  9. That's a little extreme. Nowhere near the money, nowhere near the term and unlike Eriksson, who cashed in on a career season, Holtby was known to be a declining asset who we hoped our goalie guru Clark could return to form. Hasn't happened yet but it took Clark 3 years to bring Marky around. Besides the main point of Holtby is that we needed a goalie that we could expose in the expansion draft
  10. Yeah, when Miller was here we had Rollie and Cloutier as his goaltending coaches. At that time Clark was in CBJ turning Bobrovsky into a $10 million a year man
  11. Miller is better at faceoffs. That in the only center duty that Miller is better than Petey at. Petey is a faster, harder back checker and far smarter in the D zone. Petey also always gives far more effort than Miller, who has done a lot of floating this year. Honestly it looks like after his success last year he just expects this season to be easy and isn't putting in near the effort. He just stood there and let Appleton blow past him to get at the rebound on the Jets first goal last night
  12. Yeah he definitely did. Horvat is absolutely not the problem. He is having his second best season in terms of points per game and his best season in terms of possession and defensive metrics. And he is doing all of this while playing against the other teams top lines all night and playing beside a struggling Pearson, who is having his worst season as a Canuck, and a 20 year old NHL rookie. I can't wait until Pearson is gone and we finally get Podkolzin on Horvat's LW
  13. Meanwhile, in Utica, the three players leading the team in scoring are a Benning 2nd round pick, another 2nd round pick and a 5th round pick. Not to mention that all of our top prospects except for Pod were drafted outside of the 1st round. Players drafted outside of the 1st round take longer to develop, that's why they weren't 1st round players. Some take longer than others but currently Lind, Jasek, Rathbone, DiPietro and Gadjovich all have a very good chance of being solid NHL players.
  14. I agree, it's not Greens fault that there were back to backs and it makes the most sense to give Holtby this start so Demmer is fresh against Toronto.
  15. I agree we could use a better shutdown Dman but our bottom 6 has a decent amount of skill, like I mentioned in a different thread Gaudette leads the entire league in generating high danger chances individually. I think the player we have could be utilized better, and that, for me is a coaching problem.
  16. 4 player in the top 25 in league scoring. And every one of them got at least one point in this game as well. As I've said before and will say again, and again until something changes; this is not a skill problem, it is a system problem, a coaching problem. I've wanted Green gone for 2 years now. Obviously Holtby isn't helping us out but let's be honest our team has been gutless even with players with size for too long. And I hate how we always just stand back like pylons and play super soft and let the other team shoot the lights out in the third period when we have the lead. How many leads have we blown in 3 years playing this weak style. Entire coaching staff needs to relieved ASAP. Rant over.
  17. Exactly. If it wasn't for the pandemic and this completely messed up schedule I really don't think this season would be going as bad as it has. We have had the worst schedule in the league for the first half but it gets a lot better for us in the second half
  18. Yup. Supposed to be a 1A 1B situation but Demmer has really settled in lately. 0.920 save percentage after his first three games
  19. Yeah doesn't show his perfect pass in to Miller's wheelhouse for a goal just because it was a PP
