  1. That rule pertains to RFAs not UFAs and is only for players that have received a qualifying offer but not accepted them or a new contract IIRC. I believe we can sign Tryamkin at any time after his current contract expires however if its after the trade deadline, whenever that is, then I believe he would be ineligible to play in the playoffs if we qualify. But not 100% sure on that.
  2. I believe that he would be bound by the NHL/CHL Transfer Agreement. But if I understand the agreement correctly, that won't matter as he turns 20 next November and should then would be eligible to play in the AHL as early as next season.
  3. Did you also see the part where the VHL team and KHL team are very close together and it is common for them to move a player back and forth especially since it is the VHL teams day off. So that Pod not only gets some more time practicing with the big club he also get some more game time that he wouldn't of gotten if they just left him in the VHL. Do I agree that he needs to come over as soon as his contract in the KHL is expired? Absolutely. But this is not a bad thing for him in this instance and is far better than the two games he spent scratched and getting no reps at all. This is just giving him the most amount of playing time he can get right now. Not every thing that happens to him over there is bad or intended to 'ruin him'.
  4. Umm scroll up. You missed the rest of the story.
  5. Probably the pick from the 2020 draft I'm most excited about. So far putting up a really good amount of points in the J20 Nationell league and this winter going to a great program in Kamloops. Can't wait to see how he acclimates to the smaller ice but he already plays a physical, WHL style game. Really hope they let some fans in to attendance by the spring so if he comes out east on a road trip I can see him live.
  6. He was showing very well in the junior league this year and even though he's not getting points in the SHL, his playing style and work ethic really looks like he could have an edge at making the WJC team even as a third or fourth liner. Really looking forward to hopefully getting a better look at him in a couple of months.
  7. Lol I love how he never gets credit for the good moves he makes and is constantly raked over the coals for every misstep. I'm not a huge supporter of Benning, he has made plenty of mistakes but also done many great things in building this team. Pod is one of those very good things that Benning has done. He will come over to NA when his contract expires and show exactly why he was then and is still now viewed as one of the most NHL ready prospects in the 2019 draft. I'm not at all concerned about being sent to the VHL. It will be good for him to get tons more reps and play in all situations as a leader on the team and I fully expect him to be a PPG player in that league.
  8. I agree. Its absolutely great to see some comments like that from experienced industry assessors but let's keep the expectations realistic for the kid. I'm just hoping he keeps the play up and forces himself on to the WJC team. Its not the end of the world if he doesn't but has to be a good sign considering it wasn't that long ago he didn't even appear to be on their radar.
  9. I hate to say it about a local boy but I really think Ferland should just sit out the rest of his contract on LTIR and then make the move in to coaching. Health is just too important to risk extensive brain damage. I really like him as a player and was thrilled when he signed with us but its just not worth the risk. Plus I truly believe that he would make an excellent coach. Start as an assistant in the CHL and work his way up. I believe he could teach an entire generation on the importance of heart and how to play the game the right way.
  10. I really like how some people in this thread don't think that Nils can play on the team this year and believe that he will need at least a year in the AHL, like there is going to be an AHL season this year. But at the same time want him to come and learn the NA game and play on a smaller ice surface. It just seems like some people forget there is a global pandemic going on. I hold no expectations from him for this coming NHL season but I do think that with a half of a season in the SHL under his belt when he comes to camp, whenever that is, he is going to be one of the biggest surprises regardless of if he makes the team or not. Either way, and I know how CDC is, people need to quit the hand wringing and let our prospects develop on there own path.
  11. Pod is going to be just fine. He's got one season left in the KHL where he may not be getting the ice time he deserves but he is still working as hard as he can on every shift he gets and he is still practicing on one of the premier teams in that league. A little adversity at that age can be both humbling and motivating which by all accounts that I have seen from him, he is using to push himself to be better. There is clearly some issue between him and his current coach but at his age and with his work ethic I still think that he is going to come over next year and show why he was ranked as high as 3rd overall in his draft year. Just wait until the WJC, I am expecting him to be one of the best players on the ice in the entire tournament.
  12. The difference is that Broberg showed he could do it against tougher competition at a younger age.
  13. As far as I can tell Holtby started to decline as soon as Mitch Korn left Washington as goaltending coach to go to the Islanders. Which coincidentally is when the NYI goalies got a lot better very quickly. Mitch is in my opinion the second best goaltending coach in the league behind our very own Ian Clark
  14. Holtby wants to come and rebuild his game under Ian Clark. I'm ok with term and dollars as long as there is no NMC or NTC. If he is exposable to Seattle then this is perfect. This is the price point I wanted our second goalie at whether it was Markstrom or someone else
  15. Saw this coming as soon as there was a flat cap and a looming expansion draft. As much as he has been the MVP of the team for the last two years I didn't want us to re-sign him. I believe Demko is ready in 1A 1B situation for the short term and then full time starter in a year or two. I hate to see him go but I really do think that his numbers are going to go down as soon as he loses Ian Clark as his everyday goaltending coach, just like what ended up happening to Bobrovsky. I know he left Columbus a year before Bobrovsky but I firmly believe that both Bobrovsky's and Markstrom's career turn arounds are 100% a result of Ian Clark
  16. Glad to see him and his endless motor back with the team. Love his compete level game after game.
  17. I'd give Elias 9 - 9.5 x 8 with full NMC and Quinn 8.5 - 9 x 8 with full NMC. Interesting fact, No team with a player making 10+ per year has ever won the cup. Edit. I know the 10+ per year is still very new
  18. Exactly this. I really hope that the deadline to sign him gets pushed back to March and he can be brought out after his season in the KHL and is allowed to play with us for the end of whatever this next season ends up being. GCG.
  19. Thanks for all the warm welcomes. Can't wait to see what happens this off season. I still hope and believe that Woo is going to be a fixture on our right side for a long time. GCG.
  20. Hello CDC, I have been lurking on these boards for almost a decade and never felt the need to create an account or post until now and I can't believe that I had to create an account and wait 24 hours for it to be verified without any one else correcting this. Jett Woo was not invited to the 2020 Team Canada WJC Summer Selection Camp because he turned 20 on July 27th 2020 and is therefore ineligible to participate in the upcoming WJC Tournament in Edmonton. Please stop suggesting one of our best defensive prospects has 'plateaued' or is regressing simply because he was not invited to the selection camp for a tournament that he is not even eligible to participate in. That is all, Thank you.
