  1. Well it is most probably just half bull$&!#. Kucherov probably did need surgery and did take surgery. No 90 point superstar is going to sit out willingly for a year and go under the knife just so his team can mismange the cap and get more players. Can't fake something like that or if someone dig in, they'd be in some big trouble. The timing is obviously too convienent.

Gillis isn't coming back.   Davidson is the by far the best possible candidate out their to come in and take the Presidents job and this team truly needs oversight and experience in that position to block any ownership issue's, and to approve of any trades made.  It would give a new perspective for where we are going and how to get there, and also put another body there that can fire any GM that's running the team.  Oversight.   If JB is going to spend the remainder of his contract running the team, we need a President that can prepare his agenda and make the right decision as whether it's time for change or, if by some miracle he pulls it off, and think he's going to need one or two at this point (like Podz being the best player yet, and at least one of our D's come in and become a solid top four D outside of OJ) ...

No matter what it's going to be another nail chewing off-season, and next season is going to be another one too.   After that i can't see this team not going places.

Benning doesnt work well with people. I cant see a President being on top of him now that Linden is gone.

  3. lol that package won't get you Eichel Dahlin and Reinhart. Not even close.

Eichel's pretty close to a top 5 center in the league and creates a line of his own.

Dahlin while haven't been dazzling since being drafted, I am going to use this word... has such a high "ceiling". He can literally turn into the best defenseman in the NHL in a few years and hes 6'3 207lbs.

    Reinhart is trending like Horvat.

It's my take, deal with it. I don't care what your thoughts are if you come at me like that.

Learn more about the NHL lol. Hilarious. I've travelled all over BC and Alberta watching hockey. Go pound sand. Where do you watch your hockey? Online?

    Laughable.

lol whenever you guys cant respond to a valid point you change the subject. Reminds me of my mom. Points addressed to Highmore/Gaudette, bottom 6 - all ignored. Except, let's comment on where and how I watch hockey?

Yeah, learn more about the NHL if you think Highmore/Motte/MacEwen is a good bottom six and fit to win the Stanley Cup (which is what we are after).

weak argument - not even an argument actually - er, he signed elsewhere therefore he deserved no praise.

can you spot the logical fallacy?

lol here you are saying that Leivo is some hidden gem and played amazing for us. And then you can't explain and pretend to ignore the fact why we didn't resign him for 880K or the lack of backlash from anyone on this board. You are obviously lost in your own world. I am not going to try to make a pig fly here. What I post are my opinion on Highmore, easily verifiable in 1-2 years, feel free not to comment on my opinion because I am not gonna engage in a discussion with someone so stubborn.

    what a bad take.

First, Leivo was excellent here - deserved the praise.  Scored 37 pts in 85 games here - great pick up and great value.  Where is he now?  Uh, he was a free agent.  Since you evidently like to make small sample assumptions/conclusions, Gaudette had 7 pts in 33 games here this yeare - 0 pts in 10 playoff games - without the 'grinder' aspect - so, what does that make him?

    "lol"

lol stop contradicting yourself in the post, or you cant even notice it. How is he great here, deserve praise, some great player who can make use win games and then we turn out to not even resign him for a asking price of 880K.

Okay, gotta bring it up since it hasn't yet...Highmore got an apple last night and honestly looked great all game. Best game so far from him. I honestly think we have a really good player here. I have been watching him close since trading for him, and I still stand by what I said earlier. The guy is almost always on the right side of the puck. 10 games in, even plus/minus, and 1 assist. With room to get better.

I get Gaudette has more points. But we had tried him higher up in the line up with no luck, he just didn't gel well this our top 6. We needed to shore up our bottom 6 and he showed no interest in doing so.

I'd rather have Highmore on the line up. The guy skates like the wind, is chippy, hits hard, wins puck battles, and is always crashing and banging and agitating. LOVE IT.

Highmore, Motte, and big Mac great bottom 6 forward that you can build a winning team with.

And lets be honest. If we lose Sutter, Rousell, Beagle all next year. We need guys for our bottom 6!!

lol.... This post reminds me of the pages of praises to Leivo - where is he now? One good game, with an assist, and Canucks fans can't resist to write endless praises of a player as if we have hit the jackpot. Gaudette's trajectory, we can somewhat predict, we have seen him play and perform for 3 seasons. Highmore, even before being traded here was a 0 offense grinder. Now, how is another Sutter/Beagle with less offense good for the Canucks again? We need more Sutters and Beagles?

Bottom 6 of Highmore/Motte/Macewen makes us a contender... Dude, learn more about the NHL. That bottom 6 is more like a team that can't find the right pieces and have to scrap together whatever they have available. Except for Motte, love him.

You know what the previous Cup winner is hosting as their 4th line? Maroon, Colton and Joseph. Now compare it to what you wrote. Dont even need to mention their 3rd line, because it is way too overkill.

Why tho? Hes just so bad i dont even think he deserves a million anymore. When do we move on from him?

Moving on for the sake of moving on is stupid. GM needs to consider if we can fill a roster better with or without Edler. If he is coming back, I think it's going to look more like 3mil AAV.

Covid protocol violation fine for the Caps was 100k. Calling out the league department of safety rep costs you 250k.

That doesn't make a ton of sense if you ask me.

Obviously players and coaches getting COVID is not as serious as offending the league

  10. Wilson's going to cause injury to someone in the future based on this trajectory. The $5000 fine definitely pushes it into that direction too.

That guy is acting like a gorilla without a brain. Punches the head of someone already down on the ground. Throws a smackdown on a Panarin who came to challenge him. Goes into the penalty box and still taunts the other team.

    Survival of the fittest?

Your comment puts the onus on someone to not go to a place in order to not be raped.

How about if you put the onus on the rapist NOT to rape...no matter where they are?

"If you are stupid enough to sexually assault someone...." is a better way of framing this.

So a person should be rendered helpless if they enter a hotel room with someone?  It's open season?

Why are you guys overblowing things like this? All my comments put together basically concludes..... Sexual misconduct, violence is 100% unacceptable and deserves the full blunt punishable by the law. But 2 points like the woman coming forward 4 years after it happened and willingly going with a guy you are not close with to their hotel room deserves to be investigated fully instead of staking Virtanen for hanging - until he is proven guility -  like you guys are on this board. The survival of the fittest comment is made when someone told me what I would do if it happened to someone close to me. And I would still say why they were so stupid to follow guys into hotel rooms.

Not to mention this whole case, there is 0 to no details (I haven't read any of the alleged twitter accounts). All the rush to condemn Virtanen just seems unfair. And I'm not even a Virtanen fan, just trying to give him a fair chance of justice here.

There's a lot of speculation in this thread and with the recent re-signing in the KHL I'm sure the speculation will continue to run rampant.

That said, if his agent is saying that Tryamkin didn't think it was worth it financially to come over for the term/dollar amount I hope they understand fully that they are also leaving dollars on the table in the form of any contract extension that would be available if Tryamkin did indeed prove his worth in the league.  Maybe you feel undervalued by a certain percentage for years 1 or 2 of your signing, but certainly if you prove you belong in the NHL we've seen there are no shortage of NHL GM's out there ready, willing, and able to overpay for contracts at any price point (and yes, this is assuming that the cap will eventually go back to what it was pre-pandemic).   Thing is, you'll never get an extension or a UFA offer worthwhile if you never prove yourself in the first place.

Reality cant be more bloody obvious. Tryamkin would rather stay in Russia than play for the Canucks (Especially when we are probably going to offer him 1-2mill AAV). Once he becomes UFA, he will see if he can land a NHL contract with another team. The point you say he is forego future contract potential. Not fully, players who play evidently well in KHL gets decent contracts coming to the NHL like Dadonov and Gusev.

Huge steal for Calgary - Bennet and Virtanen have pretty similar career numbers although Bennett seems to have a great playoff track record. If we got either the 2nd OR Heineman for Jake I would have been dancing

We got pretty much nothing for Gaudette (and we still have people arguing it's a good trade btw), and you are hoping a 2nd for Virtanen, kak. Pretty disappointing the 2 youngster we were developing into our secondary scoring is now pretty much gone for nothing.

Looks like playing with Huberdeau has sparked Bennett's offense. Along with Bennett's grittiness, could turn out real well. The Panthers paid the equivalent of 2 2nds though, so the price itself was high in the first place.

  14. I dont get why people thinks we have a window open as if we are stacked with young superstars. If you take other superstar examples: Crosby/Malkin, Ovechkin, Kane/Toews, McDavid/Draisaitl, Matthew/Marner/Tavares: these players, 2-3 years into their career are already dominating the games. Our players: Pettersson/Hughes/Boeser/Horvat, already 2-3 years into their careers, show no where near the same level of domination or production. I find it quite unconvincing we actually have some sort of window open comparative to the teams I have mentioned above.

  15. Gaudette's 2 assists tonight were really, really good. 1st he won the faceoff, goes straight to the net for a screen and the dman's shot went in with his screen. 2nd he takes the loose puck from his own zone, skates past the opposing team, toe drag the defender and pass off to DeBrincat for the goal.

I wouldn't be surprised this trade will look pretty bad for us. Gaudette's got that point scorer's touch like Boeser/Baerschi. If he continues to play with players like Kubalik and Strome, he can easily rack up points. We have been using Gaudette wrong imo. Trying to make him prove his worth defensively by playing him on the 3rd line with limited minutes. Should have played him on the 2nd line for his offense and if he is not someone you want to keep in your top 6, trade him at a high point.

What I’m getting from this post is that she deserved to be assaulted because she was stupid enough to go to his hotel. This is a sad sad post, please take the time to educate yourself.

It’s absurd when you use the evolutionary phrase “Survival of the Fittest” in a topic of sexual assault/rape.

No if you actually read from start the conversation we were having instead of jumping in mid way you will know that's not what I said.

You say this until it's your daughter/sister/niece/etc.

If it is someone close to me and they went with a guy they dont know too well to a hotel. Well yeah I'd be really mad. But I'll for sure comment on how stupid that decision is. The world is survival of the fittest out there. If you are stupid enough to go to a hotel with a guy, then.... Who can help you?

  18. I am not taking a stance, but whenever I see things like...

    - Happened in 2017, 4 years ago.

    - Girl meets guy, guy takes her to hotel room. I mean come on. As a woman, a guy you are not familiar with takes you to a hotel room? And you still go willingly thinking nothing will happen?

    - It's freaking 2021, there is really no shame or barrier to report a sexual harrassment - right away. Not 4 years later.

I mean it could be Virtanen is in the wrong here. But whenever I see points like the above it just sounds fishy to me.
