  1. Yeah, I don't think I need to read a book to understand what leadership is. I've got 60 years of life experience. If you insist on calling it grandstanding, there's not much I can do about it but disagree. Carry on....
  2. That's a fair point and I don't disagree that some of the criticism is warranted, however the question was, why did Taiwan and Singapore act more quickly and I stand by my assertion that proximity was a major motivator.
  3. My workplace is still technically open, although much of our staff are now working from home. For me, I'm still going in, but my situation is a bit different than most. I have an office to myself, in an area of the College with few people around me. (and much fewer now) I have software tools that I absolutely need to perform my job and although I could technically bring these tools home, I would lose some of the functionality and everything would take much longer, since my home computer has a fraction of the speed and power that my work computer does. Frankly, I have more social distance at work than I do at home and in the unlikely event that I have to attend someone's computer, I have Nitrile gloves and painters' masks.
  4. More accurately, it's all about how the economy makes him look personally.
  5. Please explain what difference it makes that you don't have a report on one out of the seven days of the week? Were you going to do something, or go somewhere based on the Sunday report from Dr. Henry?
  6. Agreed. TBH, this idea of "Solidarity = Leadership" strikes me as odd......"I'm going to show leadership by waiting to see what everyone else says and does and then follow suit".....to me that's the opposite of leadership....
  7. Islands....relatively small nations (especially Singapore) but most importantly, IMO, much closer to the epicenter of the outbreak than Canada. I can't speak for any world leaders, but for myself and most people I know, I didn't expect it to become pandemic and I didn't expect it to happen so quickly. Maybe western governments should have, but it's easy for me to see why Southeast Asian countries would be more concerned about a viral outbreak in China than North American countries.
  8. At least she doesn't have to worry about the kid running off to join the circus anymore....
  9. This would have been in the early to mid 80s....I doubt that it's still there, but you never know.
  10. Many moons ago in my traveling minstrel days, we did a gig in Yorkton. A lot of the signs at the hotel were actually in Cyrillic. I can't remember the actual spelling, but we called the Coffee Shop the Kabaffer (phonetic)
  11. Amidst all the bleak news and uncertainty, I'd like to thank @Templeton Peck for his regular injections of humor. My favorite so far is the "Where's Waldo" one....
  12. Here's a bit of a cautionary tale regarding the misinformation that's out there: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/nigeria-has-chloroquine-poisonings-after-trump-praised-drug/ar-BB11wxMQ?li=AAggNb9 Now, I'm usually all for calling out Trump for the stupid things he says, but in this case, people should realize that he's only doing what he's always done: seizing on any bit of information that has possible positive effects for him personally. Unfortunately this story out of Nigeria echoes what Jimmy was saying yesterday: Although it's promising, it's nothing....at least at this point. Don't jump the gun folks. The consequences could be severe.
  13. I agree with the general sentiment here, Tre. I think the issue with these three girls was the flippant manner they were displaying. If it was more like "Oh yeah, we should keep a little more distance", or something like that, people would probably be a bit more sympathetic.
  14. Just one World War actually....and we're not quite in that territory yet. We all know about the 6 million Jews, but almost 9 million Russians died as well. Yorkton? Are you Russian/Ukranian Jimmy?
  15. A bit surprised that no-one seems to be willing to take a flyer on Famous Jameis.....he throws way too many picks, but he also throws for a lot of yards and a lot of TDs...
  16. I actually made that same joke about 100 pages ago.....but I can't take credit. I first heard it from David Spade on that new show of his, where he sits around and talks to 3 or 4 comedians.
  17. Not sure who here has HBO/Crave, but if you're into counter terrorism actions series' I recommend Strike Back. The new season is pretty good, but if you can find the early seasons On Demand, they're pretty awesome. Stars Sullivan Stapleton (Themistokles from 300: Rise of an Empire) and Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos Seaworth) as a former IRA member, turned terrorist for hire.
  18. I recommend "Stayin' Alive".....
  19. This is how I'm going to picture you from now on:
  20. Only in gatherings of 10 or more....
  21. Cocaine Mitch gotta Cocaine Mitch...... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/newspolitics/senate-struggles-to-finalize-trillion-dollar-stimulus-bill-as-economic-calamity-grows/ar-BB11ur59?li=AAggNb9 FFS....stop dicking around....
  22. Everything except the beard.....
  23. Guess it was time to fold 'em... RIP Kenny.
  24. Third. Second is the accidental ingestion of Polonium..... I know myself, there have been many times I was making a sandwich and almost got the Mayo jar mixed up with the Polonium jar....
