Erixon had a good first period, then fell apart completely. None of the others impressed in any positive way. Hannay had a decent showing in his fight. Honzik played like a nervous 18 year old. He did make some excellent saves, but let in some real clunkers. Kind of like Luongo, Jr.

It is not a rule you are referring to. It is a contract between the CHL and the NHL whereby the NHL agrees that junior aged players cannot be sent to the minors if they don't stick with the NHL team. This contract doesn't apply to players from other than the CHL, such as European players, or US college players. The AHL has its own rule about age, restricting players from playing before the year they turn 18. Whether or not a player is drafted by a CHL team is irrelevant, if he hasn't signed a contract with the CHL team.
