[GDT/PGT] Preseason Oilers @ Canucks / Oct. 9 / 6:00 PM Rogers Arena
Mike27 replied to -DLC-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Rogers Arena very quiet tonight, apparently the fan’s enthusiasm is mirroring the Canucks effort level. -
Looks like the Canucks just picked up their 4th line centre off waivers. Travis Boyd, a right hand shot from the Laffs. Oops, sorry, was old information!

Loui will consider retiring July 2nd, 2021. My reasoning: He will "ride the bus" for the shortened 2020-2021 season. He will collect his bonus on July 1, 2021. He will forfeit the salary for the full length 2021-2022 season ($2m?) This way, he gets $3m for 3 months work.

Victoria, then Osoyoos, now Penticton.

[Rumor] Boeser Camp Eyeing 4 Year Deal Worth $28M
Mike27 replied to buddyguy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Scary! What do you think the odds of multiple RFA trades are......getting higher by the day I think! -
yes,I was referring to Goldobin...
-
I think the most likely outcome is that he will just sign in the KHL....
-
Exactly.....if Luongo retires, he forfeits the remaining salary in his contract. If he goes on LTIR, he gets paid.

Seattle Expansion Draft - Who do the Canucks protect?
Mike27 replied to lukchin's topic in Canucks Talk
No, they have to have signed a pro contract (ie players in Utica are eligible if they are in their 3rd year pro) -
Ted Taylor?

Carter couldn't get into the box fast enough, guess he didn't want to face Bieksa.

If you feel Rodin's line was "the best of the night", that is your opinion and you are welcome to it. I thought, for an all "pro" line, they were weak. Sweatt was okay, Schroeder was fair, and Rodin was an ineffectual perimeter player. No doubt in my mind that 18 year old Jensen and Archibald were better. On d, Sauve looked pretty solid. Erixon had a good first period, then fell apart completely. None of the others impressed in any positive way. Hannay had a decent showing in his fight. Honzik played like a nervous 18 year old. He did make some excellent saves, but let in some real clunkers. Kind of like Luongo, Jr.

I was disappointed with Rodin, after hearing the hype from CDC I expected a little more from this guy. He plays with one hand on his stick, the other on the parachute (he is more than a little soft). No way was he good tonight in my eyes. Could be worse though. He could have played like Rai.
-
Based on the first two games, Schroeder will be in Manitoba this year, which is undoubtably where he belongs. He shows promise, but he is in no way dominant in this tournament.

No, because the AHL is a pro league. They would lose their NCAA eligibility if they play in a pro league.

It is not a rule you are referring to. It is a contract between the CHL and the NHL whereby the NHL agrees that junior aged players cannot be sent to the minors if they don't stick with the NHL team. This contract doesn't apply to players from other than the CHL, such as European players, or US college players. The AHL has its own rule about age, restricting players from playing before the year they turn 18. Whether or not a player is drafted by a CHL team is irrelevant, if he hasn't signed a contract with the CHL team.
