  1. Right. You opened with "I lost a friend" - I thought the story was ending with the conclusion that she had followed through on her plan. Because of your unwavering commitment to your friend she's not "lost" in that horrible sense.
  2. I am Dahlen, son of Ulf - these vast lands before you now belong to me.
  3. I don’t know, I think sometimes when there’s two crappy options in front of you that’s all you can see. I would look for a third option where you can accomplish what you want without putting your lives in jeopardy. Even a sham marriage creates mountains of emotional and legal issues that will take years to untangle. In the case of my buddy it was more of a classic dupe. They didn’t know each other as well as they thought they did and got married so she could come to Canada. They tried to make it work (which is the major difference between them and you) but it ended almost as quick as it started. Her life in Canada was horrible cause she now had no support of any kind (relationally emotionally or financially) except bugging him all the time with increasingly frantic cries for help. He couldn’t get on with his life for years trying to help her from a place of compassion but also guilt. Im sure your friend is a super decent person (unlike my buddy’s ex) but I wouldn’t wish that all on anyone.
  4. I have a friend who did that - very different circumstances, but he sure spent a lot of time suffering over it and so did she. From my point of view I would venture you’ll find some ugly consequences at some point in the journey. And I would bet you’ll cause some unintended hurt to your friend as well. Just my 2 cents with nothing to go on except the details you offered...but I wouldn’t do that to myself or my friend.
  5. Nope, the poster in question literally began by stating he agreed with you. He then added to it by giving an example of where poor faceoff ability has produced an opposite result. As a note, I agree with you too. The only reason I’m taking issue is because this flow of argumentation has always bugged me especially on CDC. It goes like this: - We shouldn’t have drafted Jordan Schroeder, a small guy like that can’t make it in the NHL - Martin St. Louis says hi - Please don’t compare Schroeder to St. Louis, that’s a ridiculous comparison. One is a newb and the other is a star. But it’s not a comparison between Schroeder and St. Louis. It’s a comparison between St. Louis and the statement that a small guy can’t make it - which shows the statement to be untrue.
  6. He didn’t actually. He compared your statement against an example of where that statement is found to be untrue.
  7. No way, I’m keeping my expectations loooow. If he can hit 35-40 I’ll be very happy (and would have felt the same last year with Boeser) and it gives him a solid season to build on. If he can snipe dangle and pass his way to more than that then please pass the gravy!
  8. A few pages back setyoureyesontheprize claimed he saw Pettersson who told him he was up to 185. He didn’t give any more detail when pressed for further info however.
  9. Agreed with this sentiment. But could you give your personal opinion on Goldy’s current situation...I’m guessing you’ve seen this basic story numerous times and first-hand. Im like most I guess where from my vantage point I see tremendous talent and a disconnect in engaging at full-commmitment
  10. My BS meter started going crazy at "He said he’s up to185lb of pure lean muscle" - I can't imagine any human being ever talking like that about himself. Some more context please?
  11. I was at one of those games and had the same impression exactly. Goldobin didn't impress me (just didn't seem to play like he cared), but Dahlen had great hustle. My takeaway was that it was only Dahlen's second game, so I thought he was perhaps deferring to his linemate (Goldobin) instead of creating the play. I was surprised by that quote by Johnson, I came away thinking that Dahlen was very much in the process of becoming a special player.
  12. We dummied the eventual cup champs in that game - remember the start of last season before Bo got hurt? We were good! I'm not so dismissive of this season's team, I think we can compete.
  13. I myself could easily get between 0 and 100 if they slotted me in on that line.
  14. Warning - nasty language and from Louis CKback when you were allowed to like him
  15. Has anyone figured out what the USNTDP actually does? They just go from town to town dummying teams? "We got a ringette team tonight guys, don't take this lightly those girls can skate!"
  16. good point - i just don't see him being given any more kid glove treatment from coaching or management - I think he's gonna be given another chance or two to show some urgency in his game, if it's still half-hearted play by the end of the year I think he'll be shown the door.
  17. 180 - 61 = 119 games ... I know you're not making specific comparisons, but I don't think Goldy has a season and a half to become a hockey player. I'd say he's got about half a season to at least begin bridging the gap between "intriguing prospect" and whatever he's going to grow into - hopefully it'll be that break out you speak of!
  18. Hey thanks! I saw that Brough article but I'm too cheap to pay for my sports news ... so I guess I gotta read Botchford...
  19. I'd be interested in reading/hearing that for myself - any clue when/where you heard them say that?
  20. Remind me of the example of Shea Weber ... someone in Nashville? Also, I feel like Goldobin has an excellent sounding board in Larionov...I wish Tryamkin would sign up under him too.
  21. I've gotten used to the idea of Sutter playing 2C and think that it can work. I think we just need to give Pettersson someone else alongside Sutter that can create. Something like: Virtanen Horvat Boeser Baertschi Sutter Pettersson I'm ok with Virt there because Horvat and Boeser can dominate and he can just make room for them and be a driving force. Or if not, I'd like to give Leipsic more time there too. Then Baertschi can play a role he's more suited for and flourish with Pettersson, beefing up 2nd line production as Sutter creates a stabilizing presence.
  22. And Leipsic brings another gear of hustle, grit, etc... too
